I believe the Ties in Nigeria and Canada are written as one so even if your ties in Canada is perfect for them and your ties in Nigeria aren't strong enough, it'll still be ticked, leaving people confused. In my opinion, it's more about having strong ties in Nigeria, that's all. You can't be refused because you have a relative abroad, instead it even put less pressure on you SOA if you're going to be living with him/her. Focus on showing strong ties in Nigeria. I stand to be corrected DareFestus is angry today oh. Bros please calm down favour0011: Nobody here is rili been able to explain the meaning of strong ties in canada... so can you explain it for us. The few people I have seen with that as a reason for denial hv family members in canada without strong ties here in nigeria. |

Congrats Taike... I tap into this Taike: Hey Guys!!!!
Just got a mail requesting for my passport!!!!! I'm so so relieved and grateful to God!
As @darefestus said, today is really Taike day!
Many thanks to everyone who showed an interest in my application. I am immensely grateful!
Docs submitted below:
-All CIC forms. -Acceptance letter (conditional) with full tuition and stipend from UofT. -Form showing acceptance of admission. -A transcript request form which I submitted to my undergrad university (This was to show that I could satisfy the conditions on my acceptance letter). -Documents I printed from the UofT website showing my tuition fee schedule and the duration of my program. (I read somewhere that these should be stated in my letter of acceptance, but since my acceptance letter didn't have them, I printed these out).
-Sponsorship letter from my elder sister. -Her account statements of about 2M. -Her payslips, work ID card and birth certificate. -Travel grant scholarship letter gotten from a foundation here in Nigeria. -Documents of 2 cars and a plot of land owned by my parents.
-2014 NYSC Call up letter. -NYSC posting letter. -Reference letter from my HOD at my PPA. -NYSC ID Card and NYSC salary statement of account. -My savings statement of account, about 100k.
-BSc certificate and transcript. -Certificate of awards received during undergrad. -WAEC certificate. -TOEFL score report, DELF A1 score report and certificate from Le Village Français du Nigeria.
-Data pages of my current and previous international passports, and other pages showing my valid US visa, two expired UK visas. I've been to the US, UK and a couple of African countries.
-Letter of Explanation, stating my career progression and future ambitions. -Letter of consent from my parents. -International passport data pages of my parents and birth certificates of my other sisters. -My birth certificate. -My Resume. -Police Character Certificate.
-E-medical information sheet from The Children’s Practice and The Consultants Practice.
Nothing was notarized. I stated in my application that I was refused a UK visa in 2013. And yes! I prayed and fasted. I just finished NYSC this July. I'm in my early twenties and would be starting a PhD in Environmental Science at UofT this Fall. All thanks be to God!
Applied online - May 14 Biometrics - May 19 Passport request - July 14
I didn't get any update of 'medicals review in progress'. So to all online applicants that did upfront medicals, please keep in mind that you might not receive that.
To all hopefuls, I pray you all share testimonies soon! God bless us all!

Gosh I swear you're giving yourself unnecessary headache. Your sponsor can reside anywhere as long as you can prove home ties to Nigeria and prove your relationship with your sponsor. Omonjoe: Has anyone goten TRV with a sponsor in US or in anoda country outside Nigeria? Is it advisable to use sponsor who reside outside Nigeria? |

Thanks @thebae for the reply Am 22,graduated 2014 nov but to be honest I did industrial training for 6 months in 2013 can that be counted as a job experience cos its included in my CV TheBae: 1. It's quite early to start applying for 2016, take your time to package your application properly, there's no rush. 2. How old are you? When did you graduate from University? If you're a young and fresh gradute (2014), you don't need any job experience, personal assets or whatever. 3. Yes, you can use your sponsor's land documents |

Hello, please for someone who applied using online route, how would you know your biometric has been sent/updated. Thanks jessicajessa: I would like to start by saying in every situation GIVE THANKS TO GOD. Here's what happened to me, on friday I got a msg from cic(the popular email we all know), so I started praying.....went to my cic account and I got delayed, I was astonished so I decided to check the reason....it was an extremely rare reason though, I attached a pic of it. Anyway after seeing the reason I got super upset(I started thinking, did this vos smoke weed mixed with grinded mushroom and pepper? Jeez and oh I forgot, I tot they myt have drank alcohol so much too), cos it was obviously a reason beyond my control, ok I applied june 8th(online route), did my biometrics june 12th...got confirmation email and all that, but my biometrics wasn't still updated, had a live chat and was told it was sent(I screen grabbed the live chat as at june 19th, thank God I did!) To cut the story short I kept sending emails to and fro to vfs and accra. God knows if I lived in lag, I would have just walked in and have a new one done. Ok let's fastforward my story to the end. I reapplied, did an upfront medical....included a letter of complain/appeal for the unjust refusal of my previous app. I was pretty hard/confident 'cos fear accomplishes nothg(no insults though only requested for justice through proper investigation), I attached all corresponding emails and also the live chat(I stated all the dates of contact). When I got to vfs, some of their staff apologised and one insisted that it was b'cos I didn't go for the medicals and interview they requested for(which I didn't get any notification of such + y wld I need an interview when my app was straight forward and on point). Anyway I insisted they include the letter, with the subsequent emails and live chats. Anyway they did (I applied via paper route this tym with an upfront med), wasn't rily stressful though. I'm super happy 'cos I got everythg ontym, what if it was in august I got the message of delay(for refusing to submit the requested document)....jeez, I 'd hv been screwd, I hope they don't mess up my app again. I'm expecting my trv in 3weeks tym(I'v claimed it already) + I paid for courier service for the return of my pp when the time comes. Then my advice for the person who hasn't gotten the request for biometrics at the 10th day (pls go to vfs and get advice from them, dn't sit waiting for cic) those peep ain't loyal...cic, vfs all make mistake too(learn from my experience). 1 Like |

MisterMightyone: Hello, please for someone who applied using online route, how would you know your biometric has been sent/updated. Thanks
Through your 'my cic account' log in....scroll down(you would see something like your action is required), by the side of it you would see status and messages, enter it....then your application info would pop out, then you look at the review of biometrics spot....if you see we need applicanst's biometrics, that means it hasn't been updated. For you to confirm if it has been sent, you contact vfs to know if it was sent and accra to know if it was received(stating your passport number, date of birth, name and other info to help identify you as a client....for them to confirm with ease. If it takes 2wks and your biometrics hasn't still been updated(or dose accra peep dn't reply on time), please do a new one, dn't even mind vfs....when it gets updated the biometrics status would change to 'not needed at this tym' (remember b4 the update it was 'we need applicant's biometrics) 3 Likes |

still log in and confirm from your my cic account, I got both mails with those info but that didn't guarantee anythg, you can only track your app with the Id stated but it doesn't gurantee that your biometrics have been updated. #talking from experience. |

MisterMightyone: Hello, please for someone who applied using online route, how would you know your biometric has been sent/updated. Thanks
It is always advisable after your biometrics to log into your MyCIC online account to check if your biometric status has changed from "We need the applicant's biometrics" to "Not needed at this time". That is the definitive way of knowing that your biometrics has been successfully uploaded to your MyCIC account. 3 Likes |
