Man's inhumanity to man. These citizens of Delta state are entitled to education welfare and decent employment. Delta state is one of the 3 top oil revenue earning states. Its annual revenue is much higher than annual budgets of majority of our neibouring countries and upto 10 times the federal allocation of some of the stated. There is no excuse for such level of poverty in delta state.

So bad leadership by the North excuses bad leadership by Southern Niger Delta Governors over the last 16 years.

Continue. That is why we suffer. We excuse bad leadership at home...while complaining about enemies abroad.

You Nigerians better wake up....and ask your governors some hard questions. You elected them to end this mess.

Classical...! I love this...

God bless you for bringing this information to the notice of Nigerians. I lived 8 years of my life in Warri Delta State and I am particularly saddened by this news. I applaud this laudable initiative of asking people to donate relief items to cushion their suffering.

I would suggest that a team be set up to co-ordinate this project and communicate the modalities for collection of the said gifts via this forum. I am willing to contribute some items myself and would constantly follow up as events unfold.

May God Almighty meet each and everyone of us at our point of need.

The pictures below tell the sad story of some group of people living in Patani Forest. Among the people living in this forest are the elderly, pregnant women, nursing mothers, teenagers and children. These people struggle everyday to survive as they can barely eat.

The children and pregnant women in this forest go to bed at night hungry, sleep on the bare floor (because they cannot afford the luxury of bed), drink contaminated water and are under the constant attacks of mosquitoes and wild animals, including snakes.

We are using this medium to call on good spirited individuals to come to the help of our brothers and sisters who are suffering in this forest. You can help with the following items: clothes, food items, disinfectants, detergents, noodles, soaps and especially Mattresses (foams).

Patani na small. After Patani going towards Bayelsa, most villages there are terrible. This is why i am against militants amnesty cos they are fighting for their pocket.

WHY CAN'T MILITANTS FORCE GOVERNMENT OR SHELL TO SINK COMMUNITY BOREHOLE INSTEAD OF COLLECTING THE MONEY AS USUAL?
IS MILITANTS THAT INTRODUCED KIDNAPPING IN NIGERIA.

The zoo is a criminal enterprise.

There is no justification for a lack of social security for people who live where the oil comes from.

the billions of dollars that should be used to fund social security and pay citizens welfare every month is used to build abuja and given to Zamfara Governor to use to go on pilgrimage.

There will be social security to protect the weak and defenceless in biafra land

All the talk about creating employment being the thing that will save people from poverty is nonesense. There has to be direct cash payments to the vulnerable in the society.

A government must protect its people by doing 40% tax and paying the same to its citizens in free health, free education and social security support

The zoo is hopeless

Op, are you a learner? Mention one state in Nigeria without such people?

There are people like this in every state of the federation, including Abuja.ok.
This is no news, did Government tell you they are not aware?

Now, all we hear is Billions being spent on this project or that project. They are all over budgeted projects, where only 30% or less are spent to do the project, the rest enter private individuals account.

well, I wouldn't know when this was reported. Patani LG in delta state is where I served during my NYSC in 2011. My first month there was like hell as I absconded for some months but I can say that before i left in 2012, the town was fast developing. Although, most of the villages still look very under developed; Go to Abari, Bulu Angiama, Aven, Kolowari among others. some places are not accessible by road but only thru water and boats leave on a particular day of the week.

I have a record of a thread where you tagged the Ijaws as fools.

That you are Yoruba is of no doubt to me, as a matter of fact, I find it intriguing and interesting all the same, that's why I like chatting you up, you provide me with comic relief.

A thread that has nothing to do with Ndiigbo, you still inexplicably found a way to drag Ndiigbo into it.

What exactly does Nzeogwu a Niger deltan has to do with the topic at hand? Only a Yoruba like you will find a way to drag Nzeogwu into this mess.

So whenever its convenient you will call Nzeogwu Igbo and when its inconvenient he is SS..its so typical of you..you should do away with double standards.

If i called Ijaws fools, and so what??..Abagworo recently described Ikwerres as land sellers, tax collectors and militants, and so what?..

Fulanis are illiterate blood thirsty killers and so what??..Yorubas are ritualistic and so what??

Igbos are drug peddlers, engage in prostitution and armed robbery, and so what?...its all relative to the arguments in the thread at that moment in time.

Nzeogwu will always be Igbo to any SEasterner, same way we will always consider Omehia Igbo.
Nzeogwu and Odili are Igbos of Niger delta extraction, calling them Niger deltans is also in order.

As in ehn.
During my time there, I sought to call government attention and run all sorts of campaign to expose their plight, but I was warned by a close friend to be careful of the people getting these allocations. He said they won't tolerate such exposure of their misdemeanours and that I had better thought out my safety first. I had to rethink and reschedule my act for next year. Now, I'm just collating data and learning their system more
Their problem is the political structure.
Hey bro, I don't care about the government. I believe one can render some palliative help until government remembers them.

I'm sure if I start what's in mind right now, some others will join in alleviating their sufferings.

Please share more light on the people's attitude. Is it safe to help them?

It is safe, like they're not primarily violence-oriented, at least, without provocation.
Being cut-off from the rest of Delta, and Nigeria, you may add, they are warm and receptive to people from civilization who can manage to identify with them, despite the inconveniences.
I can't mention the exact community I'm in, but all of them along the Niger suffer the same fate.
Their only gain from the government are the solar powered lights. No electric pole, not to speak of electricity despite having a gas turbine plant around for many years
