Man's inhumanity to man. These citizens of Delta state are entitled to education welfare and decent employment. Delta state is one of the 3 top oil revenue earning states. Its annual revenue is much higher than annual budgets of majority of our neibouring countries and upto 10 times the federal allocation of some of the stated. There is no excuse for such level of poverty in delta state. |

God bless you for bringing this information to the notice of Nigerians. I lived 8 years of my life in Warri Delta State and I am particularly saddened by this news. I applaud this laudable initiative of asking people to donate relief items to cushion their suffering. I would suggest that a team be set up to co-ordinate this project and communicate the modalities for collection of the said gifts via this forum. I am willing to contribute some items myself and would constantly follow up as events unfold. May God Almighty meet each and everyone of us at our point of need. for 247frolicboss: |

247frolicboss: Patani na small. After Patani going towards Bayelsa, most villages there are terrible. This is why i am against militants amnesty cos they are fighting for their pocket. WHY CAN'T MILITANTS FORCE GOVERNMENT OR SHELL TO SINK COMMUNITY BOREHOLE INSTEAD OF COLLECTING THE MONEY AS USUAL? IS MILITANTS THAT INTRODUCED KIDNAPPING IN NIGERIA. |

Op, are you a learner? Mention one state in Nigeria without such people? There are people like this in every state of the federation, including Abuja.ok. This is no news, did Government tell you they are not aware? Now, all we hear is Billions being spent on this project or that project. They are all over budgeted projects, where only 30% or less are spent to do the project, the rest enter private individuals account. |

well, I wouldn't know when this was reported. Patani LG in delta state is where I served during my NYSC in 2011. My first month there was like hell as I absconded for some months but I can say that before i left in 2012, the town was fast developing. Although, most of the villages still look very under developed; Go to Abari, Bulu Angiama, Aven, Kolowari among others. some places are not accessible by road but only thru water and boats leave on a particular day of the week. |

pazienza: So whenever its convenient you will call Nzeogwu Igbo and when its inconvenient he is SS..its so typical of you..you should do away with double standards. If i called Ijaws fools, and so what??..Abagworo recently described Ikwerres as land sellers, tax collectors and militants, and so what?.. Fulanis are illiterate blood thirsty killers and so what??..Yorubas are ritualistic and so what?? Igbos are drug peddlers, engage in prostitution and armed robbery, and so what?...its all relative to the arguments in the thread at that moment in time. |

HopeAtHand: Nzeogwu will always be Igbo to any SEasterner, same way we will always consider Omehia Igbo. Nzeogwu and Odili are Igbos of Niger delta extraction, calling them Niger deltans is also in order. |
Re: The Poverty Stricken People Of Patani Forest, Delta State by HopeAtHand: 8:14pm On Jul 14, 2015 |
pazienza: Anybody can be Igbo, even a Frenchman but not an Ikwerreman..you need to be Ikwerre to understand. ...and i learnt they banned your favourite radio station..was about time bruv, was about time. |

DesChyko:Hey bro, I don't care about the government. I believe one can render some palliative help until government remembers them. I'm sure if I start what's in mind right now, some others will join in alleviating their sufferings. Please share more light on the people's attitude. Is it safe to help them? |
Re: The Poverty Stricken People Of Patani Forest, Delta State by DesChyko: 6:56am On Jul 15, 2015 |
IdiAmin1: It is safe, like they're not primarily violence-oriented, at least, without provocation. Being cut-off from the rest of Delta, and Nigeria, you may add, they are warm and receptive to people from civilization who can manage to identify with them, despite the inconveniences. I can't mention the exact community I'm in, but all of them along the Niger suffer the same fate. Their only gain from the government are the solar powered lights. No electric pole, not to speak of electricity despite having a gas turbine plant around for many years |
