Lately the spate of bombings in the north is more daring and on the rise. The sanctity of holy events and places has not been spared. With this thread, trusting in the power of social media in general and nairaland in particular, let us make suggestions on how to stop insurgency in our dear nation.Don't see it as a northern problem, for it is only but a matter of time before itengulfs the entire nation.Who knows the solution might just be in your head. God bless Nigeria. |

My suggestions, 1.Identification of suspicious individuals ,who move rather uncomfortably with excessive clothing for search. 2.All known dealers/manufacturers of bomb making materials must be identified and registered with the government. As a matter of policy they must have order records of their customers for scrutiny by the relevant authorities. This will regulate the circulation of such materials(e.g Ammonia,C4,bearings ,nails etc used for ieds). 3.Special agents must go under cover (CIA style),infiltrate the insurgents ranks to understand their command chain and Intel gathering. 4.Avoid crowded places ,as much as possible .Religious center must improve security at a perimeter away from buildings that accommodate worshippers,Also vehicles must not be allowed parked next to religious centers . 5.All major fund transfers to the north east must be scrutinized to know their final destination. 6.Supply trucks(food, fuel, medical, etc ),Network communication, headed for insurgents stronghold etc must be stopped indefinitely so as to choke fighters there. 7.The Northern Populace must embark on a massive reorientation of their poor, for they are the easier influenced.1000 naira can make some of them take up arms. 8.Military intelligence must be improved, for now it's like we are chasing shadows.High ranking members of BH captured by fg should be flown to other detention centers anywhere in the world, coerced to give valuable Intel on the BH activities, because if they are in Nigeria, they will keep mute ,expecting their comrades to come jailbbreak them. Finally,I just want to see all this senseless destruction of lives and properties up north end.Its becoming something else. God bless Nigeria. 2 Likes |

Many Nigerians don't understand what we are fighting, we aren't just fighting some criminals or armed robbers but a set of brainwashed individuals who are ready to sacrifice their lives for their commonly known course. I laugh when people say if boko harm should come to lagos, onitsha they will be stopped, I don't think they know anything about suicide bombing!. For instance a boko harm member travelled to lagos and decide to blow up himself at Ojota Park, police will be detached to ojo immediately, another goes to Aba and blew himself - same routine, another goes to Benin - same routine.. The only thing we can do now is to pray to God to help and support the government in this fight against this dreaded beast! #peace |

In addition to other measures the use of Burka(full lenght hijab) should be banned cos it will help in this fight against terror. But NO AMNESTY TO BH. |

kachnov:Arming every individual will be great in an open warfare, not in guerrilla attack or suicide bombing. It's like using guns to chase spirits. What I meant was, I'm not in the military, therefore I don't know how my suggestions will help. You already made some nice suggestions, but do you think the Nigerian army is sophisticated enough? Even the US who are known for their military prowess have not been able to squash the Islamic uprising in the middle East for some years now. What is the general reaction of the northern elites? What are they doing in their power to contend the situation? I don't think you can save people who doesn't want to be saved. Those elites could've launched a campaign to enlightened the poor and unlearned who are the main target for recruitment. They could've tried to improve the standard of living of their people instead of accumulating wealth for their generation unborn. I can't see why the richest man in Nigeria is from the north, and those taking the highest seat of power are all northeners, yet the north is the most backward region in Nigeria. All these happens as a result of negligence and the negligence has backfired. What can we do about it? By starting from the grassroots. 1 Like |

Give them what they want - an Islamic caliphate or whatever. When they are comfortable after a few months, drop massive bombs on their centers of political leadership, eg state house, assembly buildings etc, and destroy their leadership, then take over their caliphate and reintegrate it into the nation. |

Nigeria must address the fundamental issues of injustice, poverty, radicalism and so on. Not a rocket science to be honest. The law must be consistent. |
Re: Thread On Suggestions For Stopping Insurgency In Nigeria. by IsraeliAIRFORCE: 12:43pm On Jul 17, 2015 |
Dollyak: The issue under discussion has proved to defile the logic you presented. This was the same thing Hillary Clinton and Obama thought hence refused to proscribe Bokoharam when FG demanded it. I believe in the Holy Books where it was prophesied that in the last days there will be wars and rumours of wars leading to the end of events. The Ideological war can only be curtailed when people of same passion live together and are governed by their sets of rules. 1 Like 1 Share |

How do you now explain a painting in Denmark causing reprisal attacks on Christians in the north. The grand Ayatollahs and clerics should look deep into Islam and do some editing as a matter of urgency.I understand Constantine did some form of editing to the bible to remove some incompatible books Dollyak: |
Re: Thread On Suggestions For Stopping Insurgency In Nigeria. by oladele97: 1:27pm On Jul 17, 2015 |
my suggestion 1. the judiciary should haste there judgment and make it cruel on the insurgency rather than keeping culprit in prison they should be executed 2. northern leaders need to learn how to control there ward activities and ensure they come together to chase it out among there area 3. the boarders between Nigeria and nearby countries in the north should be close temporarily 4. Army should work harder 5. lastly SSS most know who the sponsored are |
Re: Thread On Suggestions For Stopping Insurgency In Nigeria. by Dollyak(f): 1:52pm On Jul 17, 2015 |
DMerciful:That's why I said the law must be consistent. More often than not the northerners tends to get away with killings of the Christians or southerners of which rarely happens the otherway round. This simply means the laws are selective. Frankly, the reasons why majority of this insurgencies are thriving is because the leaders often turn a blind eye to them rather than tackle them aggressively. I am afraid stuff like this would continue to happen as long as northern Muslims and fulani herders keep thinking they are protected and can get away with it. Many people are failing to understand the fundamental issues here. Sadly, groups like boko haram will never go away until we do. |

Naijiant: The problem is BH does not have a clear leader,Ibelieve sshekau is a front .Even at that negotiations should be based on agreeable demands, and I don't think BH has reasonable demands that can be met. Mods frontpage, let's get a wider audience for thismatter iinstead of steadily giving publicity for their acts, let's profer solutions .Thanks |

Dialogue: we have tried it in time part but I have a feeling the boko boiz trust this regime more. Strengthened Ariel operations: counter terrorism can only be successful when the combination of air strikes and land operations is in place. Regionalism: the marriage of nations called Nigeria didn't consider the peculiarity of the nations. |
