Hello VO, I read online in 2 separate documents that eligibility for drop-box is 1 year/ 2 years. Which is correct? Also, is it advisable to do drop box since I used my B1/B2 for birthing and I'm not allowed to send my proof of payment of my bills with drop box application? Thank you. |

Dear Visa Officer: First all thank you for taking the time to answer all our questions. I am an indian citizen with a US green card since Aug 2014. I got married recently to an indian citizen in india. I am going to file I130 for her in the next couple of weeks. I am planning to apply B2 visitor visa for my wife to visit me temporarily during the upcoming thanksgiving and Christmas for a short period of time (2 or 3 months) after filing the I130 petition and then return promptly. It would be of great help if you can provide with your response on the following questions. 1) My attorney says that it is not advisable to travel to US on any kind visa during the process of I130 petition. What is the reason for that? 2) Is there any law or rule that says it is not allowed to travel on a Non-Immigrant visa with a pending I130? 3) Will my application for a non immigrant visa in any way effect my I130 petition? Thank You for your time. Awaiting your response. |

dear VO, myself and family recently got our non immigrant visa a fews weeks back then the plan was to go for vacation in July but something came up at work which i have to supervise and i cant allow my wife and two kids go on thier own as this is their 1st time of travelling. i have two options: 1. Wait till september and go alone as my kids will be back in school by then and cant skip school to travel. 2. wait till April next year and go as a family when everyone hopefully should be on vacation again. people had told me that if non of us travel at the initial stipulated time ( july 2015) as filled in our form we may be denied entry and any period we intend to enter the US. is it true? and will any of the options stated above cause a problem at the port of entry? |

Muslimah1: Hello Muslimah1, If there were a problem, we would let you know. Sometimes processing takes longer on one visa than another, and sometimes passports submitted together get separated and sent out separately. Regards, Abuja NIV Team |

enilowo: Hello enilowo, Many applicants are approved each day who have never traveled outside of Nigeria. Having a virgin passport is not an automatic refusal. However, a forged passport stamp or foil could lead to a permanent ban from receiving US visas in the future. As for paperwork, outside of your current passport (and any old passports you might have) and confirmation page there is nothing required. Regards, Abuja NIV Team |

iContribute: Hello iContribute, It sounds like you received a 7(A)(i)(I) refusal (and possibly something else - it should be written in your passport). Your expedited removal from the port-of-entry carries with it a five year ban from the US. If, however, the US Customs and Border Protection also found you to be 6(C)(i), which covers fraud and misrepresentation, you received a permanent ban. Regards, Abuja NIV Team 1 Like |

cornoil: Hello cornoil, By applying again, you receive another review by a fresh set of eyes. There is no appealing non-immigrant visa decisions; it is entirely the decision of the interviewing officer. Regards, Abuja NIV Team |

Dear VO, Thanks for providing this platform. I have previously applied 10 years ago (on my old passport) for F-1 visa but was denied. At the time, there was error on the year I was born. I have since corrected the error as I have a new passport now and travelled to different countries. I would like to reapply for a visa and want to know if the error will affect my next application. What document do I need to bring? Please advise. |

latitidejavu: Hello latitidejavu, Sounds like you're convinced you won't get a visa! If that's the case, perhaps you should reconsider whether applying is a prudent decision at this time. If you don't think you're qualified, how are you going to convince a consular officer that you are? Regards, Abuja NIV Team 3 Likes 3 Shares |

krisnwanegbo: Hello krisnwanegbo, Sorry if we're repeating ourselves, but: every case is different, so there is no defined period of time. Guest1: Hello Guest1, That's a good question. Many people are issued non-immigrant visas each day who also have pending or closed immigrant petitions. As long as there weren't any accusations of fraud in your filing, this shouldn't be a problem. You will need to demonstrate, as you said is the case, that your domicile is in Nigeria and that your wife does not intend to abandon it. Regards, Abuja NIV Team |
