I don't think, Nigeria, or otherwise, a lot of you know what "home" really even is.

But that's okay too.

Matthew briggs: Kai, looking at some of the post by Nigerians in diaspora I am not surprised.

Nigeria is a work in progress, it's either you choose to be a driver of this progress or run for shelter in the comfortable life the diaspora presents.

As for me I intend to be among those who will redefine her future. My personal motto as a young Nigerian is "never seek the easyway out, do the hardwork".

One of my key life's work is to make her a force to be reckoned with in the committee of nations in all ramifications. I once told my parents, if having a nice car, living in the best house, with a beautiful wife, lovely kids, and a well paying job is my purpose in life I better die.

I will be leaving soon for the US, but have no intention of building a life there, am just going there to build my knowledge base, get exposure and form relationships that will help me on my life's mission.

Nigeria needs me, I will pay the price to build a nation where the next generation will be proud off. I will not seek the easy way out by running off to another nation, whose parent's have already built in blood and sweat.

I know I'll face big challenges down the line, but by his grace I'll scale through

Nigeria is a work in progress, my work in progress.

As for the diasporans who never intend to come back, trust me you will not be missed.

Gbamm!!

bros, get here first and if your story doesn't change after 2 years, I'll say you are serious about your mission.

I have been there on several occasions(short trips to visit relation for Vacation) I don't need 2years to change my mind. Africa and Nigeria especially is where my heart lies.

We are still saying the same thing. Going frequently doesn't show you anything, you need a prolong stay and semi integration to see if you'll still uphold your values.

It think it is only the mortuary-attendant-Nigerians and road-sweeping-Nigerians abroad that find it difficult to visit their homes. If not, no place like home, lol!

That's the catch, I don't intend to wait and try to semi-integrate... I have some more integrating to do here. I pick what I want from there, and take off. My time is of essence.

lol.. does this post make sense? the people with good paying careers abroad are the ones living very comfortably so they'd be less eager to go back home..

Generally life is not easy here in Nigeria, i did seventeen years in europe before returning back to Nigeria two years ago. The only thing i notice here is that war is not beautiful. It's just like a war. I know what i am saying. My little advice for people planning to finally return back to Nigeria, they should get prepare very well. Thank God i did not make the mistake of bringing my children along with me.

Okay. If you wanna stay, you stay if not, leave! By the way, to have a great country goes beyond fixing/building, it is more of renovation/sustainance.

Run to UK, is the UK heaven, keep washing dead bodies and washing plates and the rest make i hear word jare, you can only deceive those who you can but not me, you have now turned to British , and start calling me Negro, i dont need a dirty British Visa, with Easyblaze i can blaze around the world in seconds and transact business without living with racists, my Business is not linked to a British Economy that can get you kicked out once recession sets in, last time i checked home based Nigerians have turned london to a shopping mall, we are home doing our best to develop our country so stay where you are enjoy a good life, we will build ours back home grin grin grin
well said!!!!!

And what is the proportion of Nigerians that have turned the UK into a shopping mall? most of those that are able to lay their hands on the national cake? What about the many Nigerians that dream of entering a shopping mall here in Nigeria. Let us open our eyes and look around us. What you see is poverty. Stop burying you heads in the sand and think that when you close the gates to your big mansion everybody else is ok.

automaticcarzz: I have been living in the U.S since year 2001. I will be returning home when there is 24hr power supply. When there is good road network. When police are able to respond to calls within 5 minutes. When there is emergency health and fire response squad that respond to emergency within 5 minutes. When there is rule and order. When the police stop brutalizing the people they suppose to protect. When there is true democrcy. When the President stops harassing political opponents. When there is adequate security of lives and properties.
the country way you there stay, nobi somebody do all this this there??you are a self centered wicked man.stay there for ever

I studied and lived in the UK for more than 5 years but trust me I had had to run back to naija where I must confess life is easier for me.
I have a table water business going on which I wouldnt have thought of while in the UK. I am also into properties which is my major area of concentration and its going really well.
To me life is what you can make of it no matter where you are and as for me, I know i would be travelling alot but my home will still remain my route which is naija.

With this kinda attitude, Nigeria is going nowhere! It's always about competition and show off. The Nigerians at home trying to brag/show that they are better off financially than those in the diaspora and vice versa. Immigration is a matter of choice! Afterall, there're 15 million britons living outside Britain. If you wanna stay, stay; if not, leave. Simple and short. Dats all.
And it is very unfortunate that this mudslinging between NIN and NID continues even in 2015.

I will visit Nigeria at the appointed time. Not any time soon. Nigeria is too expensive with minimal returns. I travel a lot to many countries. By far, Nigeria seems to be the most expensive. Fuel, water, security details, logistics, friends and foes, running from one hotel to the other, etc. It all adds up.

I am at a stage that I don't need unnecessary stress in my life. The house I am building in the village is for the heck of it. I will never sleep there. The question becomes: What is the definition of home? Of course, a house is not necessarily a home.

I used to think so. It depends on the circle you move my friend. For sure, you hardly see Nigerian big boys in Nigerian organizations. But when governors and ministers visit, they know who and who to contact.

The ones that are visible are the empty barrels.

Whats up people? Keep it coming .... I really enjoyed reading your contributions, plus those that are in Ikeja claiming to be in diaspora because they left east for Lagos.

Well, I am taking us back, back to the real topic of this thread. Nigerians in diaspora, when are returning?

If you dont want to return, simply say so. If you want to return, feel free to state it too.

Africa generally , not only Nigeria, is way behind as compared to Europe, America, North America etc,I won't say much on this.

But, why is this topic not on FB...This topic makes more sense than many on FB.

CC: Lalastica FB things pls.
