"Duff! Where do you expect me to get such an amount" Mrs Daniel whimpered.
"baby i don't care. unless you want me to tell our daughter our little secret" the caller replied emphasizing on 'tell' as he laughed scornfully.
"please dont!" Mrs Daniel exclaimed "don't do this to me. She is your child too"
"thats why am giving you more time dearie. You have now till next week thursday or else........."the caller trailed off and hung up leaving Mrs. Daniel in a state of shock and confusion.
Tears streamed down her cheek as she slowly sat down. She knew that this day would come but didn't expect it to come so soon.
Her mind drifted back to that faithful tuesday when the whole story began.
**flashback**
Mrs Daniel had just her little girl to sleep when she got a message from an unknown number.
'it is nice been in touch with an old friend isn't it? Meet me at the crystal park by 6pm'
she read it over and over again trying to make out who it was but failed woefully.
Her husband was on a business trip and she and her little kid were the only people at home and she couldn't leave her child alone. She looked at the clock which read 5:45 and looked at her little girl who was fast asleep.
She was still thinking when she got another message from her tailor.
'madam i am through with your dress come and take it because i want to close'.
You have to pass crystal park to get to the tailors place and she didnt want to leave her clothes there as those were the clothes she would use to dedicate her baby in church the next day being sunday.
She sighed as she covered her 5 month old baby with a warm blanket and made for the door making sure she locked it firmly as she closed it back.
Crystal park was a 10 minute walk from her house so at exactly 5:58pm she was there. She looked around searching for person and was about to give up when she heard a familiar voice.
"dorithy i never thought you would show up" and then a slight chuckle.
Dorithy? Only one person knew her by that name. It couldn't be. She swirled around to come in contact with a pair of grey eyes looking at her. She gulped as she stepped back slowly.
"speechless are we?" the voice came again.
"Dddu..uff..f?" she stammered.
"glad you still remember" he let out a small laugh "am back for you."
At that last statement she found her voice "what do you mean?"
"honey i mean what i say" he replied.
"duff drop it am married now" She said showing him her ring.
He laughed again "to whom? Daniel?"
she nodded "he is coming back this night. I have to go now" she said trying to walk away but was held back by Duff who grabbed her left ankle.
"i will let you go on one condition"
"wwhhat?"she stuttered. It was not a good idea to be with a guy like duff by that time.
"that you promise to visit my house next week"
"are you crazy?"she yelled "duff whatever thing we had is over. I don't love you anymore"
"well how would you like me to tell you husband that we had sex a week to your wedding" he said smirking evily
"YOU WOULDN'T" she shrieked in fear.
"i would darling"
"but we used a condom and didn't get pregnant"
"yeah i know. So do we have a deal?"he asked.
Mrs. Daniel thought for a while. Yes they did have sex but nothing happened but she knew what duff could do. So she made the descison that almost ruined her life.
"deal".

On the faithful thursday she fulfilled her promise and visited.
One thing led to another and they had sex.
Lilian was the product of their deed. After that she didn't hear from him again.
It was only God that held her marriage together after the night she got drunk and spilled the news to her husband.
**flashback over**
"mum am hooome" lilian called out pulling her mother out of her trance.
She quickly cleaned her tears as she faked a smile.
"how was work today sweet?" she asked
"oh mom hectic"lilian groaned "i just want the admission list out so i can quit this job. By the way any food?" she asked looking at her mother's smiling face. She wondered what made her happy today
"yeah go change dear then you can eat" Mrs Daniel replied as lilian blew a kiss and walked to her room.
Mrs Daniel looked guitily at her daughter's retreating figure and shook her head.
Oh and did i forget to tell you that Mrs Daniel won an award in school for her acting skills?

Lilian had a taut expression on her face as she dragged herself home. The stint at work today was protracted and the last thing she wanted to do was to talk to someone. Her eyes were dull as her face was turgid.
She was almost home when she noticed a tall figure leaning by the gate as if waiting for some one. On getting closer, she saw it was a tall chocolate complexioned man. He had an evil smile on his face on sighting Lilian which made Lilian's heart palpitate.
"gooday miss" he greeted when Lilian was just a step from him.
"good evening sir"she replied in a dreary voice as she stopped.
"i am mr duu...i mean donald and you are?"
Lilian stared at him as if she was trying to read his face. She wondered what the man wanted as she had heard of many scary stories of men who kidnapped girls for one evil act or the other. She therefore did what any average Nigerian girl would do in this situation.
"am sorry i dont tell strangers my name. Any problem?"
the man chuckled making Lilian nervous.
"oh no sweetie am just looking for one Mrs Daniel"
'sweetie?' lilian thought.
"yea she is my mother"she said"any problem?"
"oh i see"he said as his eyes travelled through Lilian body.
" anyway i just want you help me pass a message to her" he said bringing a white envelop out of his pocket and giving it to Lilian.
" ok"she said taking it.
"bye then sweetie" he walked off leaving a confused Lilian who stared at his retreating figure.

"dad.....mum....lilian...i have something to say" faith said when everyone was having dinner.
Mrs Daniels eyes shot up with worry while mr daniel and Lilian kept eating.
"what is it?"Mr Daniel asked cleaning his mouth with a hand towel.
"uhm its nothing much ughm its just that i.....you se..e i uhm i..."
"well spit it out!" Mr Dan ordered it was clear he was tired and worn out.
Lilian who had finished eatin gathered everybody's plate and went to the kitchen to drop them.
"what is it my daughter?" Mrs Dan asked in a worried voice.
"well i think itz time i become independent. I want to...."faith bent her head "move out..."
"what do you mean?" Mrs Dan asked confused.
"i want to park out. I want to live on my own..."
"are you sick?!" Mr Dan thundered. "do you even know what you are saying?"
Mrs Dan looked shocked as Lilian who was back tried to comprehend what her sister said.
"yes dad. Ave thought about it and am sure that is the best for me...."
"best? What do you know"her dad interuppted "ok tell me....how are you goin to fend for yourself huh?"
There was silence.
"answer me!"
"uh you guys can send me the allowance you give me here"
Mr Dan was about to flare up again when his wife interceded.
"honey lets take it easy"turning to Faith she said "why do you want to move out?".
"mum am not a child anymore! Am old enough to take care of myself...."
"yes with your money!"
"but daaad...."
"you are not goin anywhere and thats final!"he rose in anger.
"dad am sorry to say this but you cant stop me" she rose too facing her father who's eyes widened at her statement.
"FAITH!" Lilian and her mother shouted in shock. Was the girl nuts?
"i see you have grown wings. But trust me am going to cut them off" Mr Dan said with glaring eyes.
"faith..." Lilian started to say but was cut off. "dad ave made my desicion!"
"fine! But dont expect a dime from me"
"but daa..."
"the choice is yours" with that he stormed off leaving a speechless trio.
"but faith....."
"enough!" faith ordered raising her left hand at Lilian as if showing her her palm "you have no right to tell me what to do. Afterall you are not part of this conversation"
Lilian was shocked. Her sister had never shouted at her before.
"what do you mean. Of course she is part. She's your sister" Mrs Dan reminded Faith.
"are you sure about that?" Faith asked with an evil smile.
"whaat...ddo...youu...mean?" Mrs Dan asked nervously.
Lilian stared at the two in confusion.
For an answer, faith picked her phone, dialled a number and waited for a while before speaking.
"you can come in now".
"what are you doing?" her mother asked in great fear.
"lets just say i have a suprise for you"
"buut..."
The door opened making everyone turn to its direction. A pair black shoes came to view.......followed by a blue trouser......then a black belt.......a dark hand......a black top....and then finally a face.
Mrs Dan eyes widened at the sight before her. That was her worst nightmare.

Mtn is just getting on my nerves! I wrote the longest update containin 5000 letas but when i wanted to post it, mtn lost connection and wiped everything away! This happened twice and am fed up.
So what am going to do is that i will write the story bit by bit (that is i will keep modifying the update till its complete) because if i write everything at once, it wil take long and might lead to lost of connectn.
So please dont read any update for now until i say itz complete as i have to kip modifying it.

Mr Dan walked in lackadaisically. It was clear he was frazzled judging by his tousled and dishevelled hair down to his dreary face. He stopped as he tried to survey the picture before him.
His wife was standing with a sort of sorrowful mien that could make you cry, Faith was leaning by the wall, her hand poised over her telephone, Lilian stood confused and there was a strange man standing by the door.
Sensing tension, he spoke out
"whats going on here?"
Lilian jerked backwards startled. Then as if remembering something, she hurried to her room and came back with an envelop.
"mum am sorry i forgot this"she pointed to the strange man"he said i should give you this" she handed the envelop to her mum who was still transfixed.
"mum?"
"that wont be necessary now" Faith intruded.
"can someone just tell me whats going on?" Mr Dan asked again.
"dad as you can see we have a guest"
"fa...it.h" Mrs Dan finally found her voice "how could you do this to your own mother."
"oh pulease. Heave knows i can't be the daughter of a well renowned adulterer!" faith retorted sneering at her mother.
"FAITH!"Father and daughter shouted
"dad you need to know the truth" faith said to her father.
"faith whatever it is i know it...." mr dan began to say
"yeah but not all of it!" Faith snapped.
"what truth?" Lilian asked overwhelmed
"what do you mean" Mr dan asked ignoring Lilian's question.
"well Mr Duff is here to explain. Right sir?" she turned to Mr Duff who nodded.
"what tr..u..tth?" Mrs dan asked shaking.
"Mrs Daniel why cant you repubate the fact that nemesis has caught up with you?"
"i thought his name was Donald..." lilian chipped in.
"lets just say i have a fickle name" Mr Duff spoke for the first time. Turning to Faith he asked "can i sit miss?"
" of course sir" she smiled as he sat down. Turning to her family she said "why dont we all sit down" she gave an evil smile as she went to sit down.
Lilian who was now desperate for the 'truth ' sat slowly on a sofa. The title of her face could be termed confusion as she looked from her mum's solemn face to the turgid face of her dad. Her parents kept standing.

Mr Duff cleared his throat as if he was about to begin a story of the titanic.
"well let me start by saying that......." he paused.
"go on!" Faith ordered.
He turned to face Lilian with all seriousness"that you are my daughter".
Everyone was silent as they awaited Lilian's reaction. Mrs Dan bent her head in shame.
Lilian sat shocked. She couldn't believe what she just heard. Her eyes travelled to her mum to see if she could get any action that could falsify the statement only to meet her mum's bent head. She looked at her dad turgid face hoping to get a clue. She refused take her eyes off him and for some minutes it seemed as if they were competing.
Mr Dan battled within him weather to give up the secret he had carried for years. He knew the pros and cons of this situation and therefore decided to do what he thought was best.
Lilian's eyes grew wild at her father's nod. She stood up immeditely as if pricked and rushed towards her mother.
Mrs Dan was frantic when she say Lilian running towards her. she wanted to move but her legs were against her too.
Lilian gripped her mum's dress shaking furiously
"mum tell me its not true!.....mum please! Its not true"mrs Dan was silent "mum.....mum!"silence.
Lilian seeing her mum wont talk let her go. She drifted backwards and then stopped. As if controlled, she went on her knees and with her hands supporting her body she bent her head and wept.
Faith who was watching the whole drama decided to speak up.
"well well well what do we have here? A girl who on hearing the truth wants to kill herself...."
"SHUT UP!"
Everyone looked shocked at the direction of the voice.
Lilian lifted her tear ridden face and faced faith.
"you expect me to believe that? That the parents ave lived with for years are not mine? This is a set up! Its a lie....."
"Its true"
Lilian stopped extremely shocked. She turned to the direction of the voice to meet her mum's pale eyes.
Whateve gumption that made Mrs Dan just speak was gone. She couldn's speak again. Faith decided to 'help'.
"actually she is your true mother"
"so that means......." Lilian looked at her dad and broke into tears. Everyone excluding Mr Duff was touched. Yeah you read right faith was touched. Yes she was a lot of things but seeing her half sister like that broke her as a tear made its way down her cheeks. The was deep silence before a voice said
"Thats not all"

'doctor. Will she be okay?' lilian asked the doctor who was checking her mum's pulse.
'i dont know as of now. Her health has deterioted massively' he replied causing lilian's heart miss a beat.
'is there a chance she will survive?' she asked
'yes but it is slim. Please see me in my office straight away' he said as he put his stethoscope into the pocket of his jacket. Lilian nodded as he left. She held her mother's left hand tightly as a tear fell. 'Even though her mum hurt her she didnt deserve this' she thought. She just hoped her mum would be ok. On reaching the doctor's office, she knocked thrice before a familiar voice told her to enter. 'sir you said you wanted to see me' she started as she sat down on a chair offered to her. 'yes i did' he concurred 'you see your mum was very lucky to have survived that accident but i foot think that would last long considering her current health status' he looked at the lady before him who was trying her hardest not to shake, them continued 'am afraid that it will only take the grace of God to keep her life. An just telling you this so you wont expect much because we are only human' lilian lowered her head sorrowfully as she thought of what her world would be without her mother. Her mother before now was her only source of inspiration and had always been there for her. She shook her head which led to the fall of another tear. She wanted to speak but could not. 'dear am sorry but you see i have to tell you the truth. it's better you in go good now as you need rest. You havent rested since you brought her here yersterday an this is almost 5pm' He was right. Lilian was a clear picture of fatigue as she stood up and made for the door. She opened it, looked back, and murmured a little 'thank you' then left.

On her way home, Lilian thought of all possible things that could happen to her mother. She grimace as she thought of what happened earlier. **flashback** as soon as mrs Dan heard what Mr Duff said, she couldnt take it any longer. She snatched her car key from the table and made her way to the door and before anyone knew what was happening, she got into her car and drove off. Lilian panicked as she noticed the speed her mum drove off with. She turned to her dad expecting him to do something but was suprised to see him so calm. Faith had a grim face. 'dad! Do something!' she screamed. But instead her father potrayed an action she didnt expect. He looked at her with hatred in his eyes, sighed and walked inside. Mr Duff must have sneake off as he was nowhere to be seen. Lilian decided to do what she thought best. She ran after the car. She didnt have far to go because just as she ran a few miles she met a small crowd near what seemed like a lexus jeep and another car that seemed like her.............mum's? She ran wildly to the scene to meet her mum sprawling on the floor almost lifelessly and a not too injured man near her. She screamed as she ran to her mum's side. 'mother!' she cried. She shook her mum madly still shouting some incoherent words. Luckily someone had called the ambulance which came just in time to carry the bodies before Lilian did anything stupid.
