Hi all. Pls I need very important advise from you all. I stumbled on this thread weeks after my dad paid a supposed visa agent for my trv haven processed my admission myself. we submitted all required docs to him. We got medical call weeks later and then paid tuition and accommodation. shortly after, I got a mail that the bank statement was forged. To cut the long story, the agent admitted that he doctored another statement cos he believed my dad's balance wasn't good enough. He offered to get a letter from the bank as the embassy requested but I refused and presented myself to the embassy, explaining the whole thing in a letter. As expected, I got two years ban. The two years ended some months ago I still desire to have my masters degree in Canada. so I want to ask if there's any hope considering the fact that I submitted all documents showing my transactions with the agent (which the embassy withheld, probably for future reference). Now I have almost two years work experience in the same field I applied for (Msc comp sci) and I plan applying to the same school again, this time with my company as sponsor and my dad has co-sponsor. In addition to the required docs, I want to submit: 1) Letter of apology. stating what really went down again 2)Reference letters from 2 national/international personalities with unquestionable reputation. Still on the apology matter Any other thing that can help express my genuineness and credibility. Someone said I should go to maple but I said I must do it myself this time with the help of God and nairalanders. I need very candid advise from y'all thanks |

Or he can just save himself the embarrassment and book an appointment. There's a very high chance that they won't attend to him especially at this rush hour medical period. kennykentipsy: |

Omonjoe: From experience, don't try to impress the V.O by quoting high figures, just calculate a realistic minimum amount required for ur tuition, books and supplies, accommodation and feeding, with miscellaneous expenses too. If possible you can design a budget for each year, and breakdown the huge money your sponsor will be giving you yearly and include such budget in your application. So your sponsor would make reference to that budget in his sponsorship letter. Eg "to further evidence my sponsorship claims for MR Kumo, I'm attaching my personal up to date statement of account and an annual budget for a period of 4 years....." night don do abeg, my head don dey shutdown! But I hope u undy my point. I made a similar mistake last year when going to the UK, I wanted to impress the V.O, so I quoted a huge sum, unfortunately my statement didn't cover the said amount, so I was refused visa. I reapplied, but cut down the cost to the barest minimum, such that my sponsor's statement could conveniently cover it, and I was granted the visa. |

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by OyBosEnEmm(m): 12:48am On Jul 23, 2015 |
ZionSpecie: I salute your courage bro. The 2 years ban you got was enough punishment. If you deserve more they would have served you. So that ends the previous itch. All developed countries believe strongly in second chance and that is why you aren't banned for life. Your letter of apology and the reference letters should be enough but no for sure that your application this time around will be closely scrutinized to ensure you are no longer 'Maradona'. Therefore you must make sure every document you are submitting is from you and verified by you before submission. In order words 'NO TO MAPLE! AND NO TO AGENTS'. I will advice you share your documents before submitting for the GOD's TRV anointed gurus to examine and comment. i.e your dad and company's SOA balance. Recent trend have shown that company SOA with deficit inflow i.e frequent debit and infrequent credit is not TRV friendly. Lastly, you should swear an affidavit in a court of law highlighting that all documents are genuine and that your return back to Nigeria is guaranteed. Your SOP should really be strong stating the reason why you must study in Canada and not here in Naija because your history smells DESPERATION. It will surely end in Praise. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Bao1004: I can think of 3 or 4 possibilities: 1. Probably your SoP wasn't packaged well or your references didn't do well. 2. Probably economics is too competitive in the schools to applied to. I also applied to University of Manitoba, but was denied admission. 3. Probably the schools you applied to are short of professors (or supervisors) on your specific interest in Economics. Or probably you applied to a research based course for which there was no prof to accept you. That happened to a friend of mine too. 4. Lastly, probably they had better students. By better, I don't mean CGPA, I mean Statement of Purpose, and the grades they had in the necessary prerequisites for your program. The good news is, there's a solution for all the probabilities, if you don't give up. We all have one or two challenges before finally getting to where we are now..... work more on your SoP, don't think of a complex aspect of economics, think of a simple but reasonable aspect of it. Don't impress them by choosing a program they won't get supervisor for. Ensure your referees give a good report, and they must not declare any family ties with you. I used my pastor and supervisor as my referees. Like I suggested earlier, try Memorial University of Newfoundland, not sure their economics is as competitive as some other schools and lastly, pray!!! |

TheBae: While SoP is key, nothing works the magic as much as good letters of recommendation because they believe professors are very truthful in their appraisal of student's abilities. 2 Likes |
