Please can those who are based in abu dhabi give us a summary of getting settled in Abu dhabi, like where to get reasonable shared accommodation, cost of everyday living, transportation and job prospects and so on.
Thanks

Justi,Natty, Mouchuochuo and co i greet you all, you guys are doing a great job.

dude I thought by now u should be in UAE cos I know since u started planning and making enquiries about this Abu. anyways this might help:
1. Shared Accommodation : www.dubizzie.com
2. Cost of everyday living : depends on ur mouth and pocket. moreso COL is higher in ABU dan Dubai
3. Transportation: steady on taxi cos there is no metro in Abu.
4. Job Prospects: www.dubizzle.com, reading classified ads, bayt.com and naukrigulf.com.
5. and so on: prayers, money and faith would take care of the rest.

In my opinion, Dubai is much more "in your face" than Abu Dhabi is. Dubai shouts at you 24 hours a day, lights blinking and advertising sign boards try to lure you in with their glitzy, shiny facade. Cars are constantly on the roads non-stop even as late as 3am while Abu-Dhabi is more on the quiet sidesmiley

Rents are expensive in both cities, but much higher in Abu Dhabi than Dubai. Traffic is now much much worse in AD.

Less malls in Abu-Dhabi, if you look for them. wink

No SkiDubai in Abu-Dhabi wink

No metro oh so get ready for steady Bus and Taxi like Natty said.

Jobs and Accommodations check Dubizzle.

My choice would be Dubai without a shadow of a doubt. I would say Abu Dhabi to live and work and Dubai to go out and have fun... cheesy

Abu dhabi have a wonderfull bus system, very neat and less crowded( 24 hrs service), 2 Dihram for a drop no mater where u are going.
Abu dhabi don't need metro, because its not as crowded Dubai
Taxi is abundant and cheaper too

Every thing u read about dubai is same with abu dhabi. Both cities are Almost the same. But dubai is a beat more populated.

Cost of living is relative.
Transportation is cheaper and easier in Abu dhabi than dubai. I have used both.... 24 hrs services available.
Accomodation might be higher in Abu dhabi, but depends on u. Rooms are between 2200 to 3000 Dirhams, bed space 500 to 700Dirhams. U can do ur comparison from dubizle. Most employers provide accommodation. Or U get tru dubizle, always readily available.
Feeding cost is same in General things like toiletries beverages, rice, beans, goil ,etc but Africa foods like red oil, egusi etc U see it more in dubai and cheaper.

There are Jobs in both cities, but Dubai will have more job opportunities and also more Applicants. So pray for Gods Direction, All u need is one Good Job.

I've never liked the idea of living in Abu Dhabi. It always seems so boring to me whenever I visit. Transportation will definitely be more expensive due to the lack of metro and I don't know how their bus system works. Sorry cant be of much help to you in this area.

@veleta, how is your job search coming on? A friend of mine also recently passed the dha and is job searching. Have you started making plans to come to Dubai ?

Congrates,
Use Dubizle, and other job sites.
Also check online for hospitals and clinics in Dubia, send your application directly to their HR email.

I Will find out out if Abu dhabi now accepts DHA,, I know they are planning to fuse all into one, that is each emirates practicing licence tobe accepted in all other emirates without any further Exams.

No, Abu dhabi have a more convinient, easy and cheaper public transport than dubai. Very Effective bus system.
Yes the is no metro, but abu dhabi don't have need for it now.., less visitors. Unlike dubai, buses in abu dhabi hardly full, Traffic flow is always free,

Monthly pass 80 Dihram, even if u enter 20 buses per day for 30days, 2 Dihram per drop.

It will be better if u can be able to get another one month leave without resigning.

Always better and easier when you are on ground.

But keep trying online, its still very much possible.

'HELLO HOUSE. I'M HERE AGAIN O.
This time around, its a different story. My flight is 2:45pm tomorrow and I am flying QatarAirways with my Work Entry Permit. Please note that I have only 100usd with me and I am not willing to give a penny. Please help asap. THANKS'

'I am now in Doha, Qatar, in another flight to Abu Dhabi. And I am glad to tell you I didn't give the "Immigration theifs" any penny except the one that begged me and it was just #100 or so.'

AM in the same shoe ryt now.

My flight leaves by 12pm 2mao
Have only my Employment Visa & Ticket with me.
BTA is $100

Good day sir,

I would like to inquire about nice and inexpensive hotels for a week stay in Dubai. I tried using the various hotel booking platforms but I couldn't get a good deal. I'd appreciate if you can give me pointers.

Also would it be preferable going for a two room apartment with Kitchen (Mom and sister), or just two rooms would be fine. I ask because my last travel to the Middle East taught me the importance of having a Kitchen. However, since its just for a week I think we can manage.

Your response, recommendations and advise are quite anticipated.

Thank you

No 1 is responding, but let me also ask this.

What is the best response?

I. O: What is you BTA?

Me:My BTA is & $700 and its in my Mastercard

Or

Me: I have $100 with me and the remaining is loaded on my Mastercard

Or

Me: All my money is loaded in my account and I have my Mastercard here to make withdrawal anytime I need.

Jumeirah Beach Road is one if the high brow areas of Dubai. it's close to the beach and that makes it attractive to foreigners. you should not even be thinking about that area if you are looking for cheap accomodation. anyway, maybe someone else can assist you
