Yes in theory . But NO in practice. It is NOT a typo. CIC is trying to play safe. It is an old practice long before the advent of the online route which ushered in a bit of reform to TRV processing. It takes about 2 months plus or minus. Some got it in 10 days early this year. Its longer during rush hours like now

Hello everyone, I just saw this info on cic website that student visa takes 51 weeks. Is this true or a typo error. Thank you.

No GTB alone, I asked about PTA from Diamond bank yesterday too, they said they don't do it. Infact, I go an email from Diamond bank today that they've suspended cash deposit of foreign currency too. Thankfully, I was just planning to change Naira to Dollar so I can deposit it in the dorm account I have with them. I will just travel with my Naira card, since it works in Canada too.
hayqinsbFX:
Just strolled into GTbank do some transaction. So I decided to ask about PTA....i was told it's no longer available since you can use your mastercard from anywhere in the world...

While first bank told me I have to have an account with them running for nothing less than 6months...

This just summarizes the magnitude of theft this GTBank people are into....

They know they extort money from mastercard holders all over..

Hello All,

Please I have completed the canada visa application online and has attached all the required document., but i have not been able to proceed to the next step which is Review Application then Payment and Submit as the other steps are grayed out. Please how do how proceed, has anyone encountered this? Your prompt response will be appreciated.
The reason is that there is a section u haven't uploaded yet in terms of document..Check to see that u upload ur saved documents for each session and it is clearly written as uploaded. Check the medical request form if u av uploaded it.

Cheers!

Thesoj,

Let me just put it out there, I was amused when I saw how long your comment was. Anyway I won't give long turenchi, I have neither the time nor energy for that (No disrespect, my brother).

The declaration at the bottom of the application form for Canada and the last section of the DS-160 for the United States states clearly in similar wording that NO INFORMATION (I believe this covers all info, restrictions, bans etc) provided by the applicant will be shared with a third party.

I believe that declaration answers every and all questions on the issue, the reason(s) for your complete overlook of this declaration and persistent belief that the info is shared between not only US and Canada, but EU is completely funny and beyond me. I don't know why you would believe a country would give another country assess to their database to view "banned applicants" lol.

That is all I have to say on this issue. Have a good one, bro.

Mine after medical stil insufficient fund with 33m sponsor acct closing balance, personal 2m fixed deposit, salary acct 1.1m, Dom. acct of around $5k+ et al (All to tackle previous reason of insufficient fund). Maybe they are expecting us to have 1Billion in our acct like Dangote son.
#CIC quagmire.

Only God can help and say yes... favour from God should lead the prayer point... some applicants don't present up to this and they received their TRV why some don't even get it with all their documents, travel history and so on... Is not about fund but God's favour and mercy..

My brother, no need for snide remarks. It's okay to have amicable disagreement.

Visa ban information is not the same as the applicant's personal information, just FYI. Have a good day.

This proves my point. You stand corrected. I don't think it helps readers on this page when confident assertions are made without room for being challenged.

I am ok with being wrong, and I qualified my claims by saying it is "likely". I know I'm often wrong and I'm okay with finding out the facts. Please read the above link and stand corrected.

I would like to add a little suggestion to what Hayqins BFX said. Pay all the fees you have in your acceptance letter. Transfer the money as soon as you can. Note also that, latest time for fall application is by August 1. Think about it, I saw this on CIC web. If your husband could have like 6M, is fine with payment into your school account.

Please can you post the link of Cic of where you saw the latest time for fall application to be August 1 because I will like to forward it to someone for verification.... please help me copy and paste the page link.. thanks

Googled the said law "signed" without much fanfare. No authentic or verifiable result.

Official documents or articles off the web, which to believe?

I see where you are coming from. But see, thanks to Edward Snowden, we now know to not believe false promises of respect of privacy by the US government. Do you follow American news? If so, you would find out that the US Government arrogates to itself the rights to violate its own promises of privacy (even to its own citizens and residents, let alone noncitizens applying for visas). Lots of Edward Snowden leaks confirmed this. In any case, the Globe and Mail article (a credible newspaper) I posted is 99.99% likely true given that it was not disputed by any of the US or Canadian immigration official quoted, and given that there are plentiful precedents. Whatever is written on the official document you quote is truly written there, but then America/Canada and its allies do what they want regardless. Cheers. The larger point here is let's not make overconfident assertions without leaving room for alternate opinions.

Please is this normal? Anyone in the same position as me? Or know someone in my position? Or someone who has been there... Did it take this long? Am I safe??

E no easy ooo..
I guess is because of peak period of study permit and co, someone post success transcripts within 22 working days sometimes ago. So, keep faith alive!!! Moreover, may I ask for ur email, wonna ask on how u package the documents and co... Thinking of doing same -SOWP.
Thanks!!!

So in simpler terms, you are insisting on your theory of shared documents not because there is verifiable proof supporting it but because you assume the US or/and Canada are lying about following a declaration they have continually insisted on (there is also no verifiable proof of this too) and this assumption is stemming from an entirely unrelated incident.

Okay, man. I rest my case. I no follow again.

Important thing is everyone can read and discern what's fact from what's not and be properly informed.

"Spreading" misinformation? Okay. From what I understand the law was passed recently. I called attention to an attestion that's been on official documents for years now.

Anyway, thesoj said data was also shared with EU and "other countries". I failed to see anything about that on the links you both provided. So he wasn't entirely correct...That IS misinformation.

thesoj:
Ah! Don't do it. I understand you may be desperate, but even mentioning such on this forum is not good for Nigerian applicants, most of whom use honest documents. Also, you do know that US VOs are on Nairaland, so it isn't far fetched that Canadian VOs browse this thread to see what new tricks people are up to.

In any case, yes they do verify whenever there is doubt in which case they would definitely find out and you would be banned from Canada for probably five to ten years (which basically means ban from US and EU and other countries that share such data with each other)

@Graviton2, there is no need to be combative. I did clarify that I do not know if EU/US/Canada share ban information with each other, but that I think it is highly likely they do. I later proved that the US & Canada indeed share such information with each other. I don't know if Canada/US share such information with the EU, but I would advise applicants on this thread to make the safe assumption that they do (given a lot of information sharing precedents in this age of terrorism).

Also, I stated that I am open to being wrong, but you seem to want to be right at all costs; your first reaction to all three articles I posted was dismissal. It is really difficult having a conversation with you if your first reaction is to want to be right at all costs.

Edit: the US/Canada agreement was three years ago, if that counts as recent

No dude, that agreement was signed in 2012. That's not recent at all. You were wrong, and it's OK to be wrong, but you keep grappling at straws and looking for little bits of this or that to hold on to. You're making yourself look bad. Accept the facts for what they are and let's move on. Cheers.

Hi, thanks again for the form A info. Using diamond bank, I was able to make tuition payments at the rate of 153 naira to the CAD, which was much better than I had hoped for. I was wondering, how long did it take between the time the transaction was completed at your bank and the time the funds were received by your institution?
