Love or Trust: What should come first in a relationship?

It's really confusing to understand what comes first between love and trust when referring to relationship matters. Everybody has got different opinion on this. Some say love comes first while others say trust comes first. But before going further, let us see what love is and what trust is.

Merrian Webster Dictionary defines love "as an attraction that includes sexual desire. It is the strong affection felt by people who have a romantic relationship." It can be deduced from the definition that Love is all about having a strong feeling of affection for somebody that you are sexually attracted to.

Trust is defined by the same dictionary as "an assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something." In fact, to trust someone or something is to have confidence in that person or thing.

The difference between these two words can be noted from their meaning:

~Love goes with feelings.

~Trust goes with belief.

So, here comes the question;

Hard to choose.. buh I feel its trust.
Trust is a very deep thing(like love too) and it takes a lot of work to achieve that with somebody. People today don't even know when they are in love or lust or obsessed!
You be in love with someone, u two can start a relationship... buh without trust, maintaining that love and relationship is almost impossible.

When you trust somebody, you can start developing love/feelings for him/her.

Trust usually comes with time. Actually both do come with time but with trust, you'd have spent quite a bit of your life with the person to know they most likely won't let you down. As in tried, tested and then trusted.

But with love, you could fall in love with someone even if you haven't spent a long time with them possibly because they have the characters you want in a partner.

I have always reasoned that falling in love with someone who you are yet to trust (at the beginning stage of relationship) is akin to hanging that relationship in the balance.

Oh, my bad. Didn't read the definitions you put up earlier. I was responding based on my own definition of the word.

Going by the OP, love would generally come first, because: attraction. Howevern trust could come first where there was no romantic attraction but some sort of relationship: work, neighbour, etc.
