secondborn:There's one from pchaxx on this thread that you can use as a sample but can't lay my hands on it. You can also Google a sample. You can start by stating that you have been offered admission into school and will like to apply for a study permit. Then, write your academic and work history with dates/period. State extensively, the reason you chose your course of study and the school and relate it with your current academic qualifications and work experience (if you have any) and especially with your future ambition. Praise their country a little(one sentence) and NEVER 'rubbish' Nigeria at all in all your statements. Make sure you also mention the family/social and other ties you have with your home country. Tell them how much you love your country and look for ward to coming back to better it with your experience. Then, you can make a list of all documents you intend to submit at the bottom of the letter. 4 Likes |

@Thesoj and @honey86 : You don do PLAESE. Leave them with their argument and unnecessary ranting. Since time immemorial I have been hearing : 1) Play safe always 2)Prevention is better and cheaper than cure 3) The dog that will get lost will never listen to the Whistler of its owner ( hunter). When people get unpalatable consequences for being careless and for ignoring wise counsel, they then return here with sympathetic stories. Sadly, guys that argue here are the ones who also feel offended when you ask them to read back or do google search. History repeat itself because humans learn nothing from history Folks, I wish you all a blessed new month full of joy and excellent health(amen) May this month be the month of celebrations for all TRV awaitees (amen) honey86: 1 Like |

2nd born, stop being lazy, make google your best friend ! A) 1. Type : www.google.com into your browse and press your enter key 2. Type : " SOP : travelling-canada-part " without the inverted comma and read plenty info on SOP on nairaland 3. The ones than make great sense to you, copy and paste into a note pad. Don't forget to include the url of the post. It can be handy later 4. Do this for other topic of your other concern. Let us save this thread from running 2 fast by doing basic inquiry ourselves and post naughty ones thereafter. B) From my notepad I have this on SOP : Study plan: Please submit a one page study plan which answers the following questions and includes any other information relevant to the processing of your application: • Why do you wish to study in Canada in the program for which you have been accepted? • What is your overall educational goal? • Why are you not pursuing a similar program in your country of residence? • What research have you done into studies in your country of residence/citizenship? • How will this program enhance your employment opportunities in your country of residence/citizenship? • What ties do you have to your country of residence/citizenship? Note: The visa officer may request additional documents or a personal interview. Further more must: 1. introduction of yourself and course of study in Canada 2. briefly explain your previous education and its relevance to your intended course of study 3. briefly explain any gaps from your last education to date or relevant work experiences acquired 4. briefly explain the impact of your course on your future career and your home country(e.g NIGERIA) 5. emphasis impliedly on leaving Canada after ur studies and what you intend to do on return(reasons should correlate with study leave and employment letter, if u submitted any) the SOP should not be more than two pages and less story telling, go straight to the point and avoid reminding the VO constantly that you are not going to abscond C) I expected you to send a direct request to my email address that was put up in respect of Pchax SOP yesterday. Do the needful if you can not locate the link to the original post. D)I hope you know that its an optional document ? And that NOT all applicant need it ? And that it must be well written if you need it ? And that Plagiarism can mar your chances ? E) Do not run down Nigeria as it may give the obvious impression that you will not return after study even when I know the truth You know best your mission and vision in life, so you must write yourself and allow someone who is better than you proof read From me2u : Best of Luck. Cheers secondborn: 5 Likes |

Name sake, keep up the good work jare. I dey "gbadun" your input here so much. Around a month ago, on this very thread, a lady revealed that she was only able to make TRV on the 5th attempt ONLY because this time around she was truthful about a US visa denial. When you ask people to read back, read in between the lines, do google search, the vex and it's in their own interest. I doubt I have the patience, Time and tenacity you displayed here to prove your view. Well done.Keep it up. thesoj: |

Here's a tip I think can help with travel history issue(s), although this may not be applicable to everybody, but I trust it should help one or two persons here. The easiest way to get visa to any country is through conference(s) and as a student. As a student, your academic pursuit should reasonably serve as a good tie to your country, as your institution should provide you with an introduction letter to the embassy. It is easy to get accepted into these conferences, as all that need to be done is submitting one or two essays on a given topic, and most of these conferences are fully or partially sponsored. Fully sponsored in that, the organizers sponsor your feeding, accommodation and transportation expenses, and partially sponsored in that they sponsor your feeding, accommodation and local transportation expenses (excluding your return ticket to the country). It worked for me, my first visa (Russian Visa) was free, and I got it under 24hrs. It was processed right from the Country's Capital (Moscow) and I did not pay a kobo for it, I only went to their embassy in Abuja, presented a visa code and submitted my passport. No statement of account, no ndlea certificate, no introduction letter, just the visa code generated from Moscow, visa application form and police character/deportation certificate. And that was because I got selected to attend a conference there (INTERSELIGER). The same thing goes for my second and third visas (although I had to pay for those ones, but were really itch free). So for those who are still schooling or have siblings schooling and nursing the ambition to travel after schooling in naija, you can build your travel record now that you have enough ties to your country through your school, so that by the time you graduate, and no longer have access to introduction letters from your school, your travel records would speak for you. Check out upcoming conferences on www.opportunitydesk.org or www.heysuccess.com I wish you guys all the best! May God grant our heart desires IJN! 10 Likes |
