For those agitating much argument on Ooni's death, let us all respect Yoruba culture because this is the Origin of Yoruba speaking language that spread all over. Ooni is a son of Oduduwa, the father of Yoruba.
Who told you so? Pls go and investigate and reboot. OK?
Next pls.

In Yoruba land, the demise of a king cannot be announced by anybody until proper rites have been observed. The eldest prince in conjunction with the traditional councils are saddled with this responsibility with little variations from one community to the other. Though globalization has made this difficult, Yoruba monarchical institution has to be respected. In this wise, it should not be a matter for debate because in few days time the the traditional councils in Ife land would have to affirm or dispel the news. Till then ...

if he is not dead then why dint he attend his son's wedding

It is not a must that any king for that matter attends his children's wedding, sending a representative is enough. This is not justifying the fact that the Ooni is alive or dead, the close family member and his chiefs knows the truth.

We now live in the era of smart phones and stupid people. Punch and premium times should know that there are steps to take if truly the Ooni is dead. He is no ordinary king. You don't just start announcing to the world that the No 1 king in Yoruba-land is dead.
Until the Oore says otherwise, Ooni is still alive.
Their investigative journalists should provide us with pictures if they want us to believe their crappy stories.
As a Yoruba girl u shld knw dt d Oba is dead Bt they cannot make it public now till wen it is 3months......u gat a nice look......check my pm cool kiss

The Chief Priest of Oduduwa and Obadio Agbaye Orisun of Yoruba land, Oba Farotimi Faroba, has dismissed the reported arrival of remains of Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, to Ile-Ife, Osun.

Faroba told NAN on Sunday in Ile-Ife that the Ooni was hale and healthy.

“Ooni is hale and healthy, and that is to confirm to you that nothing has happened to him.

“And if he is still alive why the rumuor that his remains has arrived in the ancient town?

“Ooni’s death cannot be hidden,” he added.

“Assuming his reported death is true, you will notice crowd at the main palace gate, while the gate would be locked and no one will be allowed to enter.

“Also, the Oduduwa chief priest will announce the demise of the Ooni upon sounding of a bell at Enuwa square located in front of the palace.

“After the announcement, all the trees in the market would be cut; markets would be closed while all forms of merrymaking such as drumming or partying would be suspended in town for a number of days,” he explained.

Faroba said since Oni is still alive there was no need to perform any of the rites.

According to him, the wedding of one of the Ooni’s sons which was slated for August 2 in Lagos still went ahead as planned to confirm that the monarch is still alive.
Ooni is second in command to the deities and if anything happen to him, the 200 gods and goddesses would be aware before Oduduwa chief priest would announce it.
“I am saying all these to confirm to you that Ooni is still alive,” Faroba said.

NAN recalls that some media houses reported on Sunday that the remains of the Ooni may have arrived the ancient town.

[size=18pt]The culture of the west is what brought about your ability to speak English and made the invention of the internet and the communication gadget which is either a phone or computer which you used in typing this comment so i think you are the FOOL HERE.

And point of correction...i never castigated African culture but specifically the Yoruba culture which makes grown up fools come out and deny the death of an old frail septuagenarian simply because they place him in the position of a super-being and would want to buy time in order to make some "sacrifices and rituals" which will most definitely involve human lives before a useless Ooni that probably died of malaria from a mosquito bite is buried!

Rubbish!
