Thanks for sharing brother. I'm so sorry to hear about your delay. You have been super helpful on this thread. If there's any silver lining in your delay, it is that they only ticked "insufficient funds", which you can straightforwardly tackle in your refire.

ayooluwatoni:
Hmmm... so I decided to run from here because of the pressures and especially refusals after medical exam saga towards the end of last month. But unfortunately I didn't escape it.
Submission date: 30th June
Medical call: 15th July
Medical assessment: 17th July
Date refused: 28th July
Dispatch mail: 3rd August
Passport pass back: 10th August
Reason: insufficient fund.
Please don't be discouraged to apply by my visa refusal, it was my error not theirs.
Cheers!

except you have paid for UPS or another courier for pick-up and delivery, your documents aint going to appear magically in benin city bruv and some successful applicants do not receive an approval e-mail.
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by thesoj: 6:30pm On Aug 10, 2015
Actually you may not need to go to Lagos to collect it.
Try this: go to the UPS (or Fedex) office closest to you, and tell them you want to retrieve your document from VFS in Lagos. They should be able to do this if you give them an authorization letter and prepay the shipment back to you. This is what my sister did to get her passport and documents back.

From the VFS Lagos website, under "Passport Transmission Services", it says:
To retrieve your passport, you have the choice of;
1. Picking up the passport in person or through an authorised representative from the CVAC or;
2. Sending a prepaid self-addressed courier return envelope along with your passport and request letter

Like I said before, nobody here can tell. Some people receive an approval mail after they pick up and some don't even get it until they email CIC after picking their passport. So just get your passport back first

Hello Guys.. congrats to those who already got their TRVs and God speed to those still hopeful. i am about to make my own application after my first delay last year. i have a couple of questions here and there just to be sure. . firstly, last year the agent i applied through, in the family info form, filled only one sibling for me. now that i am applying again, by myself do i include my other two siblings? or stick to the one sibling? secondly, my father who is my co-sponsor, with about 3m, has this amount in a fixed deposit. and he has the fixed deposit certificate. would he still need to liquidate the amount into his account before printing his SOA for my application? or would the fixed deposit certificate just serve fine? thanks for your help so far guys. kiss kiss kiss

Hmm...

Inkblood:

Tough one. Putting the other two siblings would have been the best thing to do, but yawa might gas once they notice the discrepancy between the two applications. But if you don't put the two siblings' names, one day in the future you might want either of them to visit you in (or immigrate to) Canada and at that point it could jeopardize their visa applications once CIC notices the discrepancy. If you decide to include their names, consider attaching an explanation stating that you used an agent last time and he/she for some reason unbeknownst to you omitted their names -- you might want to phrase it as an honest oversight. The other possibility is to include their names and don't bring any attention to the discrepancy.

Inkblood:

If the fixed deposit matures before your resumption date, you would mention this in your SOP. If it doesn't mature before resumption date, then liquidation might be the best bet. Also, make sure the N3m fully covers your total annual tuition & expenses if you don't want to get an "insufficient funds" delay.

Inkblood.. If your dad is a cosponsor, you can present the FD cert instead of liquidating, and include employment details/his source of income
Provide more info abt ur documents/application.. What reasons were given for refusal?
Who is your main sponsor?

The Detective in me just went through your posts.. That your agent no try o
Include your dad's house documents in your next app. Also go through tnuola posts for the 'TRV chopping documents', download and read. It will help you gather documents for your next application

For the second, he does not need to liquidate before printing his SOA. Just get the deposit certificate he got when it was being booked. That's what I did.

For the first, like thesoj suggested, I think you should add all names with a letter I think explaining the reason.

I'm not sure but i think they ask if you've made an application before. If they refer to previous applications while looking through new ones, I doubt they'll pass by the sudden increase in your number of siblings.

No need to liquidate your FD.
It is a valid proof of funds just show the certificate.

Hello guys. thank you for the quick reply. @thesoj. the fixed deposit expires in september while my resumption date is in january, but i will just ask my dad to liquidate it. @deedee0 my dad is my co-sponsor, and i am my own sponsor. i have abt 6m for the cause, which in addition to my dad's 3m gives a total of 9m. it is well over the fees and estimated expenditures. my dad is a retired military man, i am currently employed. will list my docs in my next post. thanks for the concern

Shyee:God day peeps. i have a master in mechanical engineering in 9ja, i was advised that I could migrate to Canada thru education, even by getting admission to a diploma course. I wanna do that.I decided to apply for a graduate diploma in risk and safety engineering. I found out MUN is among the cheapest in Canada.i want someone to share his experience with me.are there other cheap institutions thatoffer graduate diploma courses related to mechanical engineering?really, the object of it all is porting to the Maple land
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by thesoj: 7:51pm On Aug 10, 2015
As CoCoLav, NigerianNewbie, and deedee0 suggested, no need to liquidate the FD especially given that it is your father's.

I'll go with @thesoj's advice to you. Come clean about your siblings since it was an agent that helped with your previous app, you're covered under the oversight banner. About the FD, I'll suggest if it's possible, pay tuition and keep the FD intact (you could explain what part of your expenses that has been reserved for in your LOE since dad is co-sponsor). Meanwhile, ensure your siblings and the rest of the family expenses are covered outside the 3M FD. All the best.
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by thesoj: 7:55pm On Aug 10, 2015
Very low probability that you would get a Canada TRV given that you already have a masters degree and are now going for a lower degree. It would be obvious to the VO (visa officer) that your main objective is to use the graduate diploma admission only for immigration purposes. Your best bet is to just apply for a PhD or a research masters. Just make sure that you would be able to convince the VO about your motivation for whatever program you apply and gain admission to.

Applying for TRV with a graduate diploma (given that you already have a masters degree) will likely result in a "Purpose of Visit" denial.

Hi guys. So I submitted my application at vfs today and to buttress some points made here a couple of days ago. You will only be required to submit photocopies of your docs from August 15th. They almost did not accept my original docs but I insisted and reminded them it's not yet 15th.
Secondly... I just got a mail that my application has been forwarded to Canada visa office Lagos. Isn't it supposed to be Accra??

i suppose you are talking about my previous application, it wasn't a false soa per say. he transferred some money to my account, had the soa printed, and withdrew the money. and yes the soa was returned. only thing that wasn't returned was that family info form, i think. and finances wasn't ticked amongst my reasons for denial.

Yes I'm referring to the previous app. At times CIC holds onto document they probably have an issue with, and it gives a clue. Was the SOA returned?
