refreshrate: Main topic was the pic OP posted. As for polio....WHO/UNICEF is acting cautious for very good reasons(Some countries are still polio affected...and this is the jet age...where mosquitoes have been seen taking holidays in London...). As for Ebola....it does not spread like polio. Roughly put...Ebola is a disease of one massive outbreak....every year. Plus...declaring a country Ebola free(or Polio free).. does not mean that we in the health care sector sit down and chillax. As an example...Uganda had a bad ebola outbreak in 2000. 200 people died. Then there was a period of about 5 years...when there was no outbreak...but that was time enough for Uganda to build a sophisticated Ebola-testing lab, and to put in place public health measures to stop the next outbreak in its tracks. So, when the next Ebola outbreaks came...they were ready.(They have not lost even up to 50 people in the years since.). Declaring a country free of disease X does not mean it is time to relax (as the US is finding out with measles....which a few years ago they thought they were on the verge of eradicating). |

refreshrate: Alright....different criteria. From this website... Certification of polio eradication is conducted on a regional basis. Each region can consider certification only when all countries in the area demonstrate the absence of wild poliovirus transmission for at least three consecutive years in the presence of certification standard surveillance. In addition, all facilities holding wild poliovirus infectious and potentially infectious materials must have implemented bio-containment measures according to the Global action plan for laboratory containment of wild poliovirus (2003). As for Ebola....this website has the info The outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) will be considered ended in any one of the above countries after 42 days have passed since the last confirmed case has tested negative twice for the virus on blood samples (see Note 1 below). After the 42-day period has elapsed, each country should maintain a system of heightened surveillance for a further 90 days, and ensure ongoing EVD surveillance and notification thereafter. The end of the Ebola outbreak in the West African sub-region will be declared when the 42-day period has elapsed in the last affected country. Note that the difference is in the LANGUAGE. For Polio....eradication. For Ebola...end of outbreak. That means that when the press says a country is Ebola free....the WHO says that it is just the end of an outbreak of the disease....the disease is still around....and we must keep our eyes open. Of course....whether eradication or end of outbreak....we still remain vigilant. |

mu2sa2: Yeah like seriously like the pic. The whites met the northerners with a complete system of administration in the eighteenth century. That was why they respected the northerners more than the south. You could see the way they honoured sir balewa and sardauna.. Queen of England said during her first visit that her plane will not land anywhere but Kano to have a feel.of the Hausa dynasty
