Friends,
Please when there's an update on an online application and it reads Medical is being reviewed, what does this really mean?

My little cousin received emails from CIC on two occassions about updates to his application, the most recent being that which I have highlighted above. However, he is yet to receive an email to go for medicals, hence the confusion.

Has anyone experienced this before?

To any UOttawa/Other canadian varsity/college scholar in the building, clarifications needed - I haven't gotten accommodation though I have applied to the school. I would be leaving for Canada at the end of the month. QUESTION: What make shift accommodation can someone get as soon as you get to Canada or when do you hunt for the accommodation in Ottawa. [Just in case the school doesn't reply before I leave for canada]
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by thesoj: 8:10pm On Aug 18, 2015
It's okay, you don't have to print a new SOA. Page four of this CIC pdf document says to include "Original plus one copy of certified bank statements or financial investments with past six month’s history including your submission month or ending one month prior." The most recent bank statement we used for my sister's app ended in the month prior to submission, and was almost 30 days old. You should be fine.

Inkblood:
Hello guys. please whats the maximum time difference btw the date of your soa and the date of visa application.. as i printed my soa last week, monday 10th. hoping to go to the embassy by wednesday. i have been having few delays. and still haven't gone. and as it is i might be going this friday. would i need to print my soa again? i have just paid tuition fees actually and waiting for the receipt that is why i might be waiting till friday. if i am to print another soa, must i print days up till the date before i printed or could i leave a few days out?
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:11pm On Aug 18, 2015
I used GTB, they sent it at about N170 though. Try Diamond, just tell them you want to do a wire transfer
olawale005:

can you pls put me through the bank you use to make your school fee payment, i was in access bank and i was told central cancel fund transfer... any one who made payment recently should pls give me a light on how to go about it

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by TheBae: 8:14pm On Aug 18, 2015
Yeah I get you. I just think it helps to show that the payment of fees reflects in the SOA. It's obviously not necessary but it just might help to further authenticate your sponsor. If the new balance will look "too bad" then by all means go ahead with the old SOA. My SOA was over 3 weeks old when I applied
Inkblood:

the cost isn't the problem. its just that my funds would be quite depleted after this sch fees payment. i am paying about 1.3m depending on the exchange rate. which would have made my soa look better. although i have already explained in the existing sop that i made the part tuition payments from the account though
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by thesoj: 8:16pm On Aug 18, 2015
@Inkblood
@TheBae makes a good point. But if printing your new SOA means you would have a low balance, then I'd suggest you use the older statement with more money.
TheBae:
It's okay to use the SOA like that but isn't it better to print a new one that will show that your school fees was from that same account. It won't really cost you anything

You can look at the University's Short Term Accommodation. However, I think these won't be available after September 1, since you mentioned you will leave at the end of the month.

You could also search for a hotel. But it is possible to get a place after arriving in September. The prices might be on the high-side; however, you might get lucky.

Speaking of accommodation however, I have a room in a 3 bedroom apartment close to the University, if you're interested. You can send a mail if you want. Cheers.

How do I tackle these reasons for denial:

Family ties in canada and country of residence
Purpose of visit
Personal asset and financial status.....

Congratulations @Urchmandon!
Since you submitted your application online, can you put me through on the category under which you uploaded each of the documents you submitted? Where did you upload your WAEC results and other academic documents, under what category did you upload documents like birth certificate, police report etc

Urchmandon:
N/B: It's a long post. Please, do not quote all.

The information provided herein include further details of my application and documents submitted.

Applied (online): 1st July
Biometrics: 6th July
Upfront medical.
PP request: 11th August
App. approved: 17th August

Documents submitted:
All CIC forms,
Admission letter+fees fact sheet showing tuition & general fees (from the school),
LOE (3pages) - introduced myself; stated - why canada, school, programme of choice, future career goals & what I intend 2 do when I come back 2 Nigeria (+family served as home-tie); introduced my sponsor & the reason he was gonna sponsor me; explained details of my fees & every other info worth mentioning.
Birth cert.,
Undergrad. cert.,
Transcript,
WAEC cert.,
NYSC cert.,
Police character cert.,
Proof of provisional accomodation & advance payment receipt,
Reference letters from - PPA during NYSC/current place of work (same place & didn't state how much I earn); place I did my industrial training (IT) & undergrad. project supervisor,
Marriage certs. of parents & sponsor (2 show r/shp),
IELTS report form.

Sponsor: Maternal Uncle
Letter of sponsorship (notarized) - stated amount deliverable,
SOA,
Fixed deposit certificate,
Pay slip (3months),
Reference letter from bank/employer.

Please, the following are based on personal opinion (mostly for those yet to submit their apps.) & shouldn't be misconstrued in any way.

1. All documents & information provided on the documents one intends to submit should be purposeful, clear & possibly self explanatory. That person X submitted document A doesn't mean person Y should/has to. If it's not a required document (from personal checklist) & it doesn't relay much info that will support your application and/or propel the VO to approve your application, do not include it.
It's better not to include some not-really-necessary document than to include one & give an incoherent explanation for it and/or an avenue to speculate (incorrectly).

2. LOE is optional & people have gotten TRV without one but if for any reason, whatsoever, an applicant feels the need to explain any information that will further simplify his/her application, please he/she should include one. For instance, address A might appear on an applicant's form & address B might appear on same applicant's acceptance letter. In as much as most people will consider such inconsistency insignificant, some others (maybe the VO included) might not. Such disparities may provide an avenue for doubt which could lead to a more thorough assessment, unravelling further discrepancies.
Explaining even the slightest differences or inconsistencies will only give more credence to an application.
Moreover, I think the VO will appreciate the effort(s) the individual made to simplify his/her task. Nobody smiles to work everyday hoping to be hit by an unanticipated complicated issue.

3. Be more open and honest than he/she (the VO) would expect you to be.

4. Finally, all documents should collectively present you (the applicant) as an attentive, distinguished, hard working and honest individual.
Make your application yours & not a "sub-application" of some other individual.

To all expectants, stay hopeful. To everyone who has contributed and/or still contributing to the progress of the thread, keep up the good work & remain blessed.

Cheers!

@Thomby2k12, could you please edit your previous post? The thread would be less lengthy if you deleted most of the re-quoted @Urchmandon post smiley. Also, this ChriGo post might help answer a portion of your question. I believe several people in other prior pages of this thread have fully answered your question though.

Sorry to hear about your delay sad. Please share your profile with the house so that we can brainstorm how to tackle your reasons for delay.
What program and course are you going for? What school? UG or PG? What is your current employment situation?

Your strategy is good and don't forget to include the Swift/Telex Copy of the transferred fund,

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by Omonjoe(m): 4:19am On Aug 19, 2015
Gud am all. I am posting this on behalf of my boss in office. He is 42yrs old and married(no kids yet). Has a Masters in Elect / Elect Engr frm UK in 2009 with about two publications. He got admission for PGD in Canada for Automation Engr which is closely related to his first nd second degree and also work schedule in office. He was given 2yrs postgraduate work permit in UK after masters and he spent one year of the permit before returning to Nigeria to pick his present job. His sponsors now are his inlaw and younger uncle.
What are his chances for visa approval?
Should he apply without stating he has Masters already?

I uploaded everything that shows/explains means of financial support (i.e. LOS, SOA, etc) under "proof of means of financial support". Uploaded every other doc. (LOE, birth cert., police report, etc) under "Letter of explanation" & saved as letter of explanation & some other docs.
