This is not necessarily a delay bro.. From what I understand, u applied via paper route and you were also called up for medicals.

For paper route, there is usually no 'update message' for medicals passed. Also, an approval mail does not always come in immediately.

So there is still hope my brother, just go pick up your passport next week and let us know.. Hopefully it will be a TRV by His grace!

Question for the house: my sister is starting her MSc program in January and she already got her TRV, while my brother is yet to apply for his TRV to start a PGD program in January as well. They have the same sponsor with sufficient funds.

Do you guys think it creates a bad impression that my brother is trying to go to Canada at the same time as my sister? I am paranoid that the VO may see it as a desperate attempt to go with my sister. Fyi their schools are 550km apart. Would it look better if he deferred his admission to May (but still apply for TRV in September)?

Abeg I need your opinion please @deedee0 @tnuola @Team12 @teesboy @HayqinsbFX @richcasey @berexio1 @SeraSera, @Graviton2 @TheBae @ayooluwatoni

I agree with the opinion of others that it is not necessary to defer in this case. As regards stating dependents, I don't think it matters as much as we may want to think it does. In my case, my sponsor had a few too many dependents for his account balance that we were paranoid that stating this explicitly would not be good for our case. So we left it out. And that turned out to be just fine. In your case, since the sponsor is financially equipped to take on the responsibility, I don't think it would hurt to state it, if he/she wants to. It's just a matter of preference. Either way is fine in my opinion.

So I have been looking forward to posting here but I needed the right time. I think now is....

I stumbled on this trend some weeks after i applied for trv on July 12 (paper route), didn't get an update all along until I (as usual) tracked my application just now and realised my passport was dispached yesterday (19th) without a medical call.

I am going for a 1yr PGD in International Business at Red River College. I was to resume in August but had to defer(one time) till January cos CIC was delaying and the college needed me to confirm my visa status 1 month before resumption.

Here I am with mixed feelings but am ready to refire. Will list my documents and reasons for denial once I get my documents next week...

Thanks.

Thank you very much tnuola. Yours is definitely in the works already. Your invaluable contributions to this thread won't go unrewarded lagbara olorun.

Thanks to you, @Team12 (is this woman related to a VO? grin), @hayqinzX, @TheBae, @justwise (this man should be a Visa Officer), @iyaEjima and people skipping my mind right now for their general contributions to the thread. Many of us (that are aren't as active) even benefit from your wealth of knowledge. And that was why I could teach my agent and later did everything myself without her.

God bless Nairalanders that are willing to share the little they know, have or think. I would love to be part of such company now.

I'm still not settled on if to state it or not. This form (bottom of page four) says to state it, but it seems not everyone states it.

UW bro smiley
I know of this form, I just showed my sponsor to convince him to release the documents I was asking for.
Every application is case-specific and its your choice. My family info form shows I'm the firstborn and all my siblings are still students. Rather than leave the VO to think my sponsor doesn't have sufficient funds to cater for all of us, we stated a rounded up figure spent on my siblings' education here in Nigeria in the affidavit of sponsorship.
I did this because I examined my profile/application and I felt it was necessary, not because of that form o. I still think it is not necessary in ur brother's case. Examine the application and decide.

Uw! Have u started applying to schools?
And I have this perception that most schools prefer medical sciences BSc to natural sciences for admission into Public health, so package your school applications well. u also need statistics background

I am applying to U of Saskatchewan. Their applications ooen in novemeber. Do you think my life science background in microbiology might cause me to not get the admission? And when you say medical sciences which ones are you referring to?

Reposting...

Thanks guys/gals for the suggestions.
@teesboy @TheBae @tnuola Based on your previous responses to my initial post, are you guys/gals suggesting the sponsor should not state his number of dependents? Or should he state he has one dependent but not go into any details about the dependent? @Team12 and @hayqinsbFX I also want to hear your thoughts on this smiley. The question is: would the sponsor be opening a potential can of worms if he discusses in his letter his sponsorship of the other dependent (my sister, who is going to Canada in January). Fyi, there is enough money in the account for both.
This statement dd it for me:
*Apart from deedee0, my other financial obligation is the tuition of my other children in Nigeria, which is x million naira

No further details, I didn't state d schools they are attending..and this was in the affidavit of sponsorship. My family info form already shows the no of children.
In d letter of sponsorship..no reference to it at all.
Lool who is the sponsor? Seems you are quite bothered.
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by thesoj: 7:52am On Aug 20, 2015
Thanks for the responses. The reason why I am/was undecided is because the other dependent of the sponsor just got a TRV to start her MSc in January. As a result, this case is different from your case. My concern is that the VO might find out the details of my sister (she is in their system, tho my bro will list her name with a Naija address on the family form) and distrust the sponsor. So that's the risk.

The benefit of not stating it is that the VO won't reach a conclusion that my brother is running away with my sister lol. The VO may see her as a tie to Canada if the sponsor states it; this may prejudice his view of my brother's intent. The issue on whether to state it or not has nothing to do with available funds, there's more than enough funds for both.

Do you still stick with the same previous analysis given the distinction I just made?

PS: don't mind my fussing, I can be a perfectionist at times. Thanks smiley

Don't get me wrong oo, I have a Bsc MCB and I got admission for MPH. I'm just saying u should package yourself well...include Ur IT experience, wrk experience, undergrad statistics courses, virology, epidemiology and co, community/voluntary activities.
Some of the emails I got from schools while I was seeking admission gave me that impression, I'm referring to Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy etc
UoManitoba's application is on and will close this year for sept 2016 intake MPH

Nobody can answer your question, nobody knows the school you're asking about. Check your school website for their application deadline. There is no general deadline for all schools. If it's not on your school website, email them requesting the information
