Comrades calm down. I don't know, but something deep down tells me there's something about Martial we don't know yet, the scouts must have done serious scouting on him and labelled him last resort. LVG might be insane but i don't see him waking up one morning and sanctioning 36mil on a 19year old. This is quite similar to the Darmian deal, lots of chelsea and Arsenal fans mocked us when we got him, telling us we signed a nobody-but he proves them wrong every game. Lets just hope and pray real hard Martial comes good because £36M no be small money ooo.

For that price or how much? This is ridiculous!

I will assume it's for the price. It's look like we hijacked him from going to other EPL teams which is why he was expensive. Coupled with the fact that deadline deals are usually expensive.

I don't think there available strikers in the league
Austin and Mahrez would have been manageable.

Yeah! But I'm 100% sure we aren't going trophy-less unlike manure. We gonna top them at the end.

WE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE THAT IS THE FACT WE LOOSE 4 MATCHES LAST SEASON AND CURRENTLY LOOSING 2 SO NO BODY CAN WRITE OFF ANY TEAM FOR NOW

Guys the price haven't been agreed yet ,he just flew in to the UK. As for the Martial guy ,I watched a lot of Monaco games last season n I can tell u dat he is a decent play with the potential to blossom but he is still a kid n is definitely not who we need but with Hernandez going to Leverkusen n Rooney serving us sh!t lately ,I'll take any decent striker now cos dia r few of them in d market. The only problem with this is (I stand to be corrected though) that LVG will now push Rooney back to midfield cos his captain must always play.

We currently in panic buy mode so I think we still need two more players, a centre back n possibly a goalkeeper (if DDG joins Madrid) or another striker/ attacking midfielder.

He can't disappoint. Epl is a tough and physical league. So martial would easily adapt and he can easily exhibit his Martial Arts on the field of play.

LVG considered the asking price for Pedro too much but 35k is cool for an untested and inexperienced teen. SAF must really be deep thoughts

Is SAF the owner of Manchester United or is he the one running the affairs of Manchester United? The man is retired, allow him rest.

If the Lad (Martial) isn't gonna prove his football (art) talent, I think Man United wouldn't be stupid to sanction the deal!
Kanu was 18 when he proved himself at Ajax and won the Champions League under the tutelage of LVG!
I'm not saying LVG philosophy is anything to write home about, but who knows; the Lad might eventually be a hit!
*let me quickly watch the lad's skills in YouTube*

Modified: based on the Clip I just watched, the Lad is a machine; he can play CF, ST, RW and LW. Moreover he seems clinical with goals!

Hope we have not bought someone that would make us regret selling Welbeck?

He scored 9 League goals in 1828 minutes last season.

I read we put in for him when Monaco went out of the UCL. Wenger first wanted him after Monaco beat Arsenal last season. Arsenal were looking to sign him just a little above what Monaco paid to sign him.

In the summer, Tottenham were reported to have bid £18 million. The last rumour was that Barca joined in the race among several EPL teams.

grin

These are immediate solutions but not a permanent solution. This Leicester guy, is he another Harry Kane? Do we need a Harry Kane kind of player or an Aguero kind of player?

Gaal loves young players and he is hoping to build a team of world class players who can play with flair. Not some players forcing it. The reason he might not buy Gomis even if he is cheap in Zimbabwean currency.

I get your point fam.
I just think Rooney needs a break..... and wages docked for the break duration granted grin

I am surprised you guys are letting three go and only about to bring in one, a young kid, but let no one here underestimate that kid.
Martial looks like a really decent player... I have been super impressed with him lately.

Blame Gaal. Sold V.P, Falcao, about to loan out Januzaj, replacing them with a kid.

Refused buying Otamendi, Pedro and another top keeper, but let Valdez go. Benching De Gea. Told Lindergaad he can leave. Stoichkov was right, Gaal will ruin United.

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Nobody: 2:12pm On Aug 31, 2015
So who is Anthony Martial?

Martial is a 19-year-old French forward who played in Lyon's academy, making three appearances for their first team, before switching to Monaco in 2013 in a £36m move.

After a quiet first season, Martial enjoyed a better time of it under new coach Leonardo Jardim last time out, scoring 11 goals in all competitions.

Notably, he was part of the Monaco side that eliminated Arsenal from the Champions League – particularly impressing in the 3-1 win at the Emirates Stadium.

What are his strengths?

First and foremost, there is his astonishing pace, a trait highlighted by UEFA in their technical report for the 2013 European Under-21 Championship at which Martial was named in the team of the tournament.

Former Monaco chief executive Tor-Kristian Karlsen expanded on these qualities on Twitter, highlighting Martial's  "smart movement, excellent close control and overall technical ability", while praising his ability to make "everything look simple" on the pitch.

Martial has pace in abundance and has a reputation as a composed player
Karlsen added that Martial is "surprisingly composed in front of goal for such a young player" and that's reflected in the fact that he is "very strong in one-versus-one situations".

What are his weaknesses?

It wasn't all positives from Karlsen. "On the flip side there are issues about consistency, ability to impose himself physically and possibly a certain lack of determination," he wrote on Twitter.

Martial improved under Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim last season
That would appear to be backed up by the views of former Monaco coach Claudio Ranieri who worked with Martial during the teenager's difficult first season at the club.

"He is a great youngster with a great future, but he must change his mind-set," the Italian told a press conference in 2013. "Sometimes the French mentality is, 'Today I play well, maybe I'll play well tomorrow'. No, you must work hard to do your best every day."

Can he be compared to anyone?

Martial had the chance to work with former United striker Radamel Falcao during their time together at Monaco and also regarded Newcastle striker Emmanuel Riviere as a player to look up to at the club.

"I try to learn from Falcao, and Manu Riviere as well - his movement is excellent - it's really good for me," Martial told BeIN Sport. "I need to work on my movement and my finishing, but seeing these guys on a regular basis gives me a benchmark."

However, it's the comparisons with another man who made the journey from Monaco to the Premier League that will really encourage United supporters. Karlsen has claimed that Martial "can in some way be reminiscent of a young Thierry Henry".

It's not the first time that the two players have been mentioned in the same breath. "If I managed to win as much as he did, frankly, that would be amazing," Martial himself has said of the comparisons in the past. United fans can but hope.

Valdes and LVG should settle their beef. He should be starting before Romero.
Charlie austin is the perfect stopgap for us this season. I don't know why we're not chasing him.

i am not defending rooney's performance but the worst player yesterday was depay he has shyte in the league since , our defenders have the bulk of the blame, where was luke shaw whend the ball was lost by rooney deep inside swansea's half where was smalling when ayew had a free goal at the ball, who did gomis turn like a pub player before he hit the bar, where was shaw when gomis had the second goal, united fans need real soul searching, darmian had a torrid session without facing montero, united had only one corner in the game the worst in the history of united.lvg has destroyed united, let him buy whoever they will struggle
U obviously did not watch dat match with the way u are talking here. Just like his assist for Mata, Shaw was the one who led the counter, that saw him pass to Herrera who passed to Rooney who gave the ball away clumsily that led to Swansea's counter that led to their equalizer.

Rooney was to blame for that equalizer not Shaw. Go and watch the replay and u'll see Shaw in his position marking his man when Ayew threw dat pass to Gomis. Blind was the CB out of position for that Gomis goal. And as such, Darmian had to come cover from RB for Smalling who was busy covering for Blind who was nowhere to be found.
Not to even talk of Montero... angry angry

Abeg everybody had a decent game yesterday except Rooney and Romero. Blind was average.
