2004 Murano With A Toyota 2MZ-FE Engine And Transmission V.NEAT, Shocker by Readonee35L(m): 6:58am On Sep 01, 2015 |
i was scrolling through autos section and i found a 2004 murano for sale i opened and the car body looks average, interior needs a little touching based on the seats, I scrolled for more pictures of the hood, then i saw a Toyota 2MZ-FE V6 Motor instead of the 3.5L VQ35DE V6 ... The owner must have been frustrated because of the cvt transmission issues ,and thinks the solution is an engine and transmission swap, Is the engine swap worth it? The regular engine produces 245hp while the 2mz-fe produces 200hp, 45hp lost Based on the pictures of the hood, it looks like a neat job , everything in place, if i didn't see the body , i would have argued its a Toyota because it still uses Electronic Fuel Injection, most local swaps here uses Carburetor . seller also said it has AC i think the person that did the conversion tried based on look of things, but a test drive speaks a lot, if properly done , his car should have a better mpg because the engine is smaller, Murano is available in AWD and Fwd, i think this one is FWD You guys should share your thought and what you feel about it www.nairaland.com/attachments/2786705_img20150826164514_jpeg7fdef2306b38b8934246382fe1e21307 www.nairaland.com/attachments/2786701_img20150826164708_jpeg47a815b8055d75d4b892df14ffdc1cb7 www.nairaland.com/attachments/2786700_img20150826162008_jpeg35dacc237a97222ea497abef5a24a390 |

Most times they don't connect the O2 sensors, they weld the Cv rods, engine mounts are fabricated, car vibrates at when driving, all the Christmas lights are on on the dash, they don't connect the ODB2 port. It might look neat, but it is evil inside 9 Likes |

GAZZUZZ. You have said it all. A friend was in this mess sometime ago and he angrily sold off the car as scrap. I begin to wonder, how can an Engineer be tricked to swap his murano engine with a camry engine? Is it juju the mechanic used on him? I pity whoever that will buy that car. Truly, it's evil in inside. 1 Like |

RichDad1: yes ooh, a test drive will speak, GAZZUZZ: hmmm, you are right , but the o2 sensors might be connected, since it is having a toyota ecu do you think the obd port will still function, all the cars safety options are already useless , Error lights like srs, abs, cel, awd ,brake e.t.c nissparts: that might be the main reason for selling self 1 Like |

Hmmmm...the engine bay actually looks neat ooo-It may just work. But I wont touch that car with a 10 foot pole; heck , not even mtn tower sef. A relative swapped the engine of his Explorer to that of a Hardbody a while back...(said it drunk fuel pass whale ).within 2 years he's been through 3 engines and he shares the car with his mechanic-seriouslyoo, the mech keeps his driving license in the car!! So yeah, I'd stay away. 12 Likes 2 Shares |

A murano is a murano and a toyota is a toyota, each has its own way of maintenance. The murano is obviously a bit more expensive and strict,(if u know what I mean) the toyota being simple and regular. To think u can apply the same thing by taking it for surgery is a big no no Haha no way,you are just turning "beauty" into a nasty, thirsty, ugly, blood sucking demon. Although the toyota murano sounds gooooooood I must say. |

SAVEDBABA: If I was going to spend 10 years out of the country I would not put a toyota engine/transmission in my murano in the first place. In fact, the odds are that if I can afford to live outside the country for 10 years, then I can afford a murano engine/transmission replacement 2 Likes |

SAVEDBABA: I dont need anyone to tell me. If you've bothered to check, you can easily tell I know more about Muranos than most and I can assuredly tell you the parts and expertise to do this "transplant" correctly here is non-existent. Most people cannot even do the actual murano engine and transmission swap without getting into trouble, hence the reason why mechanics and sellers and ladipo will immediately tell you to fabricate another vehicle's engine or trans into it. 2 Likes |

SAVEDBABA: still kicking! that engine bay is killing mehn, whoever did that conversion and was so thorough with the placements and details of something as physical as the engine bay, how much more would he be, with the wiring? probably seller decided to sell because of the presumptions here and there. I've read a lot lately about conversions and I can tell u..... people have successfully carried out more successful transformations!! |

Please, can someone educate me on why Murano transmissions are such a nightmare for Nigerians? Last week, I heard an owner sold his for 300k after transmission issues. Cc Gazzuzz, Honmusa, Nissparts, timifakay, Denn et al |
