Personally, I am not against Biafra secession. But my argument has always been that it should be done peacefully. And that Nigeria does NOT have to break in a violent manner into banana republics, for Biafra to survive.
Why do the proponents of Biafra always preach hate and anarchy against the non-Igbo? Do they think by preaching hate, their dreams will be fulfilled? Anyone "who has a sentence of death hanging around his shoulder and is infinitely more willing to engage in a mortal battle" should do so on his own, rather than dragging others along with him on his path to destruction. Is that so hard to understand?
You claim that if not for the positive help Nigeria received from the UK, Biafra would have won. I beg to disagree. Biafra had help from France and other nations too. The truth was that Biafra would not have succeeded for many reasons:
(1). Ojukwu was outmanned, outgunned and outnumbered during that war; (2). The internal wrangling and dissension within the Biafran high command and the populace, weakened Biafra from within and also contributed in bringing it to its' knees, as Ojukwu declined to engage in consultations or take advice from his cabinent; (3). Biafra was landlocked after the federal forces instituted a naval blockade - a strategy Ojukwu could not counter as he did not forsee it; (4). Biafra was unable to provide food or adequate nutrition for its citizens, and refused all entreaties to allow a food corridor to be opened via land to get food across to the citizenry; (5). Biafra relied more on the use of propaganda than facts, in getting news across to the people, with the result that the right kind of messages were not being received by the people. Instead many of them were being brainwashed by propaganda, rather than basing their decisions on actual reality; (6). The change of currency on the federal side, rendered the millions seized by Biafra useless, as they tried to use that cash to prosecute the war; (7). People sent by Biafra to buy arms, ended up putting the money in their private pockets;
The list is endless. I would reiterate my suggestion - the Igbo should seek to establish their nation by peaceful means rather than violent methods. Too many families on both sides still carry the wounds and painful memories of the losses they incurred, during the civil war. Too many families on both sides can tell you stories of loved ones who went out during that period and never came back. Psychological wounds are the hardest to heal.
That patience that you claim the Igbos do not have in order to wait for a restructuring, I pray they seek and find it. As that may eventually be the route they would use, to actualise their dreams. Maybe you are not aware of my standpoint vis-a-vis Kanu's IPOB effort. I need to be aware of a clear and achievable roadmap from Kanu's camp before I can say that I endorse their efforts. Not that my endorsement matters. I have been made aware of another IPOB faction that is currently embarking on legal moves against the Nigerian government. This same IPOB faction along with their legal arm have established links with the United Nations. The way I see it this other IPOB faction has a better and clearer roadmap to achieving Biafra peacefully, however they lack the publicity machinery of Kanu's faction. If both factions were to merge, their message will be unstoppable and has the capability to douse the unnecessarily spiteful messages that emanate from Radio Biafra. But make no mistakes about it, the spiteful messages have helped Biafrans to be a little more passionate about the struggle, so it is serving a purpose, but the disadvantage of it is that the messages will linger long after its purpose has been achieved. I gathered that at some point the other IPOB faction was romancing with APC. If that is the case, I believe the Kanu faction has helped in ensuring that that madness was not allowed to take root. Getting to your other points of why Biafra lost, it is quite difficult to think Biafra lost the way things are going. Biafran movements are waxing stronger and stronger by the day such that it may not not be accurate to say they lost. They may have lost a battle in 1970, but the war carries on, and the eventual winner will be decided in the not too distant future. Now, France did not provide Biafra with one hundredth of the help that Britain offered to Nigeria, their did not last all through the duration of the war, and they only supplied light arms with virtually no warships to counter blockades or heavy equipments to tackle mechanised invasion. Most of the points you listed still have a lot to do with the lack of military hardware, to either mount sustained offensives or repel naval blockades or push back ground incursions and invasions or protect farmlands occupied by enemy forces 2 Likes |

Most of the points you listed still have a lot to do with the lack of military hardware, to either mount sustained offensives or repel naval blockades or push back ground incursions and invasions or protect farmlands occupied by enemy forces And having known all the reasons why the old Biafra lost, why would your people still be thinking of using a military option to achieve their aims? Where do they think the continuous inflow of funds to sustain that military offensive will come from? Have they thought through the aftermath or consequences of their actions, if the military offensive mounted by Biafra actually takes place?? Do they think the federal side will also sit on the sidelines, twiddling their thumbs?? Have they been briefed about retired Major-General robert Adeyinka Adebayo's admonition to the south-east prior to the Nigerian civil war in the late sixties? I need not tell you what horror, what devastation and what extreme human suffering will attend the use of force. When it is all over and the smoke and dust have lifted, and the dead are buried, we shall find, as other people have found, that it has all been futile, entirely futile, in solving the problems we set out to solve .https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Adeyinka_Adebayo You stated that there is "another IPOB faction currently embarking on legal moves against the Nigerian government. This same IPOB faction along with their legal arm have established links with the United Nations ... which has a better and clearer roadmap to achieving Biafra peacefully, however they lack the publicity machinery of Kanu's faction". Well, good for them. Let us hope they have learnt from the mistakes of their predecessors, and would consult widely among the larger Igbo populace across all strata of society, before making their final moves. It sounds like their faction comprises mainly of members of the intelligentsia. Finally, you stated that: "their message will be unstoppable and has the capability to douse the unnecessarily spiteful messages that emanate from Radio Biafra. But make no mistakes about it, the spiteful messages have helped Biafrans to be a little more passionate about the struggle, so it is serving a purpose, but the disadvantage of it is that the messages will linger long after its purpose has been achieved."I beg to disagree with you here. Those spiteful messages are counter-productive, and have become a double-edged sword. The only thing it has succeeded in doing, is to antagonise the non-Igbo against the Biafran cause. You cannot call a people's homeland a zoo, and expect them to be sympathetic to your cause. You cannot keep using invectives and hate-filled speech to describe other non-Igbo groups, and think they would not react to you with disgust and disdain. The same kind of propaganda being spewed out by Nnamdi Kanu is reminiscent of the type that was peddled prior to the civil war and even during the war. Innocent Igbo folks believed everything they were told, and it hastened their demise as they marched to the war front. Such similar spiteful speeches fuelled tribalism and hate towards the Igbo in the North, during 1966, which led to the progrom, after the first coup in which leaders from other ethnic groups were massacred. Instead of learning from the mistakes of the past the new generation of after-1970 Igbo are repeating it. May God help us all. |

Just because Nnamdi Kanu wants an asylum and a caucasian booty, He is willing to slaughter his own Black people, and worst without his knowledge. My Black Brothers and Sisters be calculative and learn from the past.

Point of correction, IPOB is one with the service of Nnamdi Kanu. The 'other arm' u refer to is the MASSOB which is led by Uwazurike. It will definitely be more formidable if both join forces with the unalloyed truth and no compromise. That is the reason Nnamdi speaks against MASSOB the way he does cos they have been compromised to an extent. That is why the raw, unrefined truth will prevail and swallow up all others at the end of the day. Nnamdi Kanu really ignites passion and that is way better than the lacklustre show MASSOB has been putting on these past years. OfoIgbo:

Because I have voiced my fears about their evil intentions to split Nigeria this year, everything I have been doing in the past few years is to avoid what these foreign powers have been planning, and under my nose, Under my foolish nose, there comes this Ibo Boy. Who wants to play james bond, by causing disaffection in the country, it's funny, because I and some other colleagues were thinking it would be the Insurgency in the North that would be used to disintegrate this country, But Alas, Nnamdi Kanu comes along, having being trained by British spooks on how to carry out covert broadcasts activities etc, and he wants to spoil everything that we have invested Time and Money in trying to secure, The fool is a dead man, I can tell you as a matter of fact that there is a Contract on his head, and the thing is we did not even have to spend much money on this contract, as there have been Friends who have volunteered to execute this contract without much financial assistance, anytime from now, you will all hear what will happen to him, even the Nigerian government can not save him now, you know why? Because it is too late, The fool is already a dead man. bolaino I love people like you for your rants. Nnamdi Kanu is definitely playing a role and he knows it. Another major reason the war went the way it did was TIMING. The third reason was that Ojukwu was very trusting, and felt that people will behave in gentlemanly manners at all times. TIMING :- Ojukwu did not have the luxury of choosing when the war started. It was thrust on him and he had no choice. OJUKWU TOO TRUSTING:- This caused the Biafran cause some damage. 1. Because he trusted the north he encouraged Igbos to return to the north after the first pogrom 2. Because he trusted Nigeria, that was why he allowed northern military personnel to depart the east with their weapons 3. Because he trusted the system, that was why he didnt convert all the monies in his domain to dollars when he had the ample time 4. Because he trusted the west, that was why he released Awolowo and let him return rather than snuffing the life out of him. Eventually, the decision not to kill Awolowo in prison came to haunt Biafra in terms of starvation as a weapon of war, and the twenty pounds policy innthe aftermath of the war 5. Because he trusted the west that was why he allowed a Yoruba to be in charge of an expedition force that should have been headed by a core Biafran. A core Biafran officer like Ivenso or Archibong or even Achuzia would have moved with lightning speed to Lagos and intimidate the crap out of Gowon, but he gave it to a political soldier with complex loyalties who destroyed the intention. Now the situation on ground now is totally different from what was the case in the late 60s. The Nigerian government is not in the position to determine when any war starts. If anything, Kanu and his people have the total say as to when any shooting war starts. Secondly, Kanu prefers seeing things in BLACK and WHITE. He realises that there is no unified southern Nigeria, which was Ojukwu's major flaw. In fact, Kanu does not hide his loathing for Yorubas, our southern neighbours, thus closing the door to any possibility of Yoruba betrayal of Biafra. Right from the onset he is viewing the west as enemies, especially after the starvations, £20policy and the latest being the Yoruba betrayal of GEJ at the polls a few months ago. So Lord Lugard could come all the way from Britain to convince you that Nigerians are one but Nnamdi Kanu who is a son of the soil cannot convince you otherwise? Some think that Biafra is all about Nnamdi Kanu. Killing Nnamdi Kanu will not stop the agitation for Biafra, it will only make it worse and there are thousands who can take his place. If you love Nigeria so much, go Britson and find Lugard so he can get another Nigeria. There is no going back on Biafra 2 Likes |

bolaino: I know this is a faceless Forum where people come to make up all sorts of lies and distortions to further their different selfish agendas, But let me tell you one truth you can sleep with tonight, I have been hiding from some Foreign Intelligence agencies for some years now, I have suffered, in ways you could never imagine, why are this people after me? Because it is too late, The fool is already a dead man. for ur mind you be james bond abi?? yoloba people and fantasy 2 Likes |

NOBLEDANDY:
if they are mighty like you have portrayed... why are book boys dealing with them like this...
you must be a nonentity... that I said Biafra is ready for war is now instigating war. are your brain cell restructured to that of a rabbit all of a sudden?
Don't worry, they will eventually finish off the Boko Haram boys. Haven't you read the latest reports about the how the military has the upper hand? Secondly, you are a living example of a nonentity. Honestly. Because you lack the logic and understanding to deploy a fact-filled response, you had to resort to insults. Typical. Thirdly, anyone who claims to be "ready for war," is also in a frame of mind to instigate war. Why would you mention war, if you were not thinking of engaging in it? Unless, the rudiments of English language are beyond you?? Finally, you missed it. From your comments here, everyone can see that you are the one with 'the brain cells of a rabbit.' That is why you are making reference to war. Like I told you before: " that war you are advocating, will first consume you and everything dear to you, before it spreads in any other direction." |

So he has been using a Nigerian passport to fly around, campaigning for the breakup of the same Nigeria?? Chai! That passport should have been withdrawn long ago. If he was using a UN refugee travelling certificate to campaign for Biafra, I would have had more respect for him. 1 Like |

bolaino: My Good Man, The Truth is Nnamdi Kanu is working for Foreign Intelligence, and he is playing millions of Gullible ibo people, but the Truth is that he has gotten himself involved in the very heart of important things that are ongoing as we speak, and the Truth is he is too loud mouthed, this his loud mouthedness has made him become enemies with very powerful people. The people he is working for are going to distance themselves from him when he has been killed and exposed and by then it would already be too late for the Ibo people, it is already too late for the ibo people, as they are hell bent on fighting a war and a war they will get, but this war would be fought in the East. I don't like to seem as though I am holding brief for Kanu as I have issues with his chosen system, but there are huge flaws with your statements above. 1. You are assuming that the war will be fought in the east. What if Kanu and co decide that the war will be fought in the north or west. As I wrote before that HE THAT IS DOWN NEED FEAR NO FALL, Igbos are unlikely to be swayed to any side that does not guarantee total freedom for Igbos. At the moment, majority of Igbos feel they are being held in a nation they don't want to belong in, so to them, it is worth fighting a war, if at least it increases the chances of having ones country where freedom will reign. In the past, the north clandestinely cooperated with the UK in order to keep Igbos down, so Igbos won't feel any sense of loyalty to Nigeria, if the same western nation will cooperate with them in extricating them from Nigeria 1 Like |

OfoIgbo: Another major reason the war went the way it did was TIMING.
Thirdly, the SS is not as antagonistic to Biafra now, as they were in the sixties Quite a number of other changes. So the situation now is totally different.
Personally I prefer a judicial approach than any war I.e if Nigeria is not restructured I agree with you on two points: (1). The TIMING was not right. (2) the SS is not as antagonistic to Biafra now, as they were in the sixties. Well, I believe parts of the SS like the SS Igbo are not as antagonistic towards Biafra as they used to be. But other parts of the SS such as the Urhobo, Itsekiri, Edo etc., still retain their mistrust for Biafra. Now with respect to Ojukwu being 'trusting', I beg to disagree. Ojukwu was calculating! He may also have been politically naive...but 'trusting?' No way! He refused to heed the advice of his cabinet and did not hold wide consultations across board during the war. The reason he sent Banjo on that expedition to the west, was because he thought that Banjo being a Yoruba man, would have an easier chance to over-run the West. He thought the Yoruba in the West would be sympathetic to him, being a son of the soil. His calculations were wrong! |

He thought the Yoruba in the West would be sympathetic to him, being a son of the soil. His calculations were wrong! During wars you don't hold wide consultations. Wide consultations are only necessary when you are trying whether to go to war or not. Once war is declared, you maintain a small war cabinet. Igboids in the ss have always been in support of Biafra. But other ethnic groups like Okrika, Kalabari and other Ijoids are more positive towards it. EfikAnnangIbibio were generally always in support, but are now even more in support of the clamour for Biafra. I cannot yet speak for the Urhobos, Idomas, Igalas e.t.c, but time will tell. I still insist he was too trusting, especially when you consider all the points I raised to that regards, but I can't fault him for that, as he fought bravely to protect his people. None of his fellow governors would uave had the balls to do what he did, for their people 2 Likes |

None of these verbal acts are against the law. Have gangster rap songs? Some of them are full of hate and inciting statements. But have you ever heard that any gangster rapper was arrested because of his work? It all falls under freedom of speech. So if you see anyone denigrating Nigeria, it is their constitutional guaranteed right. If you don't like it, walk away. As for this "British created fraud" you call Nigeria. A nation created by the forced amalgamation of unconsenting ethnic groups, it cannot carry on forever. No fraud ever lasts forever. The mistake you guys made was to think that your victory in 1970 will remain valid till today, and that you can get away with every impunity based on that victory. This is where the op contradicts himself; he uses the 1970 victory (aided heavily by the British) as a barometer for the outcome of another civil war yet also implies that the British are/would be in support of the Biafran side if war were to be declared. By his logic, due to Western support, the Biafran side would succeed in the event of war. 2 Likes |
