Hi all. What is the unique test result reference number for PTE, is it the test taker ID or the registration ID?

Thanks for your earliest response.

It's the string that starts with PTE followed by 9 digits. Eg PTE000123456

thanks @bellong
a friend advised that I should wait and renew my passport towards the end of next moth and Lodge immediately after. I think its also a decent plan as it will not be too close to the start of my program

On the other hand I would have liked to simply lodge say by end of next week and go ahead with the renewal process when it's 6 months to expire but I don't want to leave room for unnecessary questions by oga CO.

One other reason why i'm thinking of waiting to lodge at a later time is that my school gave me a quote for OSHC for one person but I'm planning on going with my wife so I mailed the to revise the quote accordingly but so far no response. i'm factoring in a little delay from that side

I have this question that has been bothering me: Is it better to pay the school fees via telegraphic transfer or via my Mastercard? I very much prefer the card approach but just about everyone around me suggest going to the bank which i detest to be honest. Nobody however seems to be able to spell out the pros and cons of either approach. Please kindly weigh in on the matter.
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by bellong: 2:02am On Sep 12, 2015
Ewagbamio,

Either you use an old passport or a new one, it is not the thing that actually matter. What matters with passport is having at least 6 months validity. I renewed my passport when I already submitted my application. Only forwarded the new passport with cancelled page of the old passport. The passport is no issue really.

If the school is ready to charge the fees on your card, it is easier and faster than T/T. In addition, it is cheaper to use.

Thanks Lawland, I am currently preparing my SOP, I have 8yrs work exp in Logistics and I have a Company that is into Logistic Support Service and Consultation. The Company has been Registered a Business Name since 2011 and was upgraded to Limited Liability since 2013. I have all the registration docs. I think this will fly. I have consulted an Immigration Lawyer friend and he has advised that I apply for Logistic Mgt as I have a better chance and Career/Business prospect upon my return to Nigeria.

Thanks for your advice so far.

lawland:
Yes you can but remember, you need a better packaging as it gets harder to get a visa once you are refused visa. Just make sure you write a good SOP....
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by erictack203(m): 7:49am On Sep 12, 2015
@Ewagbamio,

Just as Lawland said, you can apply for Visa at least 6months to the Expiration of your Passport. But I will personally advice your re-new your passport. The old one will be cancelled by NIS and the old Passport Number will be placed on the new one as "Old Passport Number" while the new one will be displayed up. This will then help in reference for any application that u have used the new passport. Thank you for your words, I have thought about life and I still prefer oz to 9ja. I am re-applying, a different program this time.

ewagbamio:
Hi all,
@ Erictak2003, your denial is such a shock! I mean you being so knowledgeable about the whole process and all. Sorry this is coming late, been so busy with work and family. You shouldn't just give it up like that, think of the long term prospects. I believe Australia offers a better life on the long run and that is what matters most. Wish you joy on the PR route.

I have a question for all the gurus in the house, I just got admission for a Masters Program (UQ) commencing Feb 2016 but my Passport will be expiring in April 2016 ie like 7months to go. My plan was to pay the required fees and then renew my passport in Nov and then apply for the Visa but I saw that there is a space on the acceptance for where they require my passport no

So, wise people what do you suggest I do in this case?

1. Do I pay, get my eCOE and apply for visa with the new passport and include the old passport as evidence?
2. Do I get my eCOE and apply for visa with the old passport? will the little time left on the passport not be a reason for denial?
3. Do I put everything on hold until NOV after passport renewal? Problem with this is that I usually don't have time off work so i dont want things piling up

I have gathered just about every other documents needed and I just front loaded the Medicals recently
Please bellong, lawland, erictak2003, scrollmeout, bosslady alaoeri, and Ferdimako (yes I suspect u are somewhere watching) and all the other ehelpers unmentioned, kindly come to my aid
thanks

Hello house,

Please i need clarity about what VETASSESS meant by uploading a certify copy of my passport biopage.

I uploaded the original copy, they're still telling me they're not satisfied with it... and in 15 days time they'll cancel my application if i don't provide it.

Photocopy the datapage of your International Passport datapage, goto High Court and ask them to Certify it, then scan and upload it to them.

Brisbane is 13th most expensive city and Sydney 11th city. No Canadian city in the first 20 most expensive cities to live.

Australia generally is one of the most expensive country to live in the world. This depends largely on where you live. For example, Sydney cost of living is huge. What kills here majorly is the cost of rents. And even at that, it depends on where you live in Sydney.Minimum wage in Australia currently is AUD 16.87/hrMinimum wage in Canada currently is CAD 11/hr

Employment Situation

Regarding employment for prospective overseas Engineers, I would say it depends on your skills and your experience. Some people were employed directly from Nigeria to work here even without PR. I know of a Mechanical Engineer that got job 7 days after he arrived and some 1-month or two etc. However, do spend several months before they get their dream jobs. Anyway, things have changed a bit because market isa bit flooded particularly for Telecom Engineers. Although there is this ‘local experience palaver’ which most Australian employers value so much. It was when I got in that I discovered why they value it so much. Different work ethics is one of the reasons. If you have worked in places like the UK,US etc. You won’t find it difficult as such when looking for jobs. In Nigeria, we are jack of all trades so to say, but here thereis clear delineation of duties. In some cases, you are expected to focus on your area only. Back in Nigeria, I was doing planning, project engineering, support etc. but when I got here,I focus only on designing, less stressful so to say.
Having said that, there are skills and experience in Telecom engineering that are not in demand such RF,CORE and BSS. It willbe easier for someone with transmission (Not Microwave) experience coupled with IT to get something than a RF Engineer or Core Engineer.I know few Nigerians working in Oil and gas, IT, Construction industry and also Telecomms. Generally, the strategy is to have Australia standard CV, relevant certifications and not minding starting afresh or do an internship and possibly volunteering jobs. Taking up a volunteering job will fetch you Australian experience. If you educate me more on your skills and experience, I will be able to advise you. Meanwhile, you could check the two major job websites:www.seek.com.auandwww.indeed.com.au

Good evening: Justwise, Kunlay11, Bosslady, Bellong, Manweysabi, NNBB2012, alaoeri, lawland, scrollmeout, other gurus in the house

I just searched for this thread because my wife and I are considering Australia PR as an alternative to the Canadian Express Entry. Thanks for your selfless services.

I would be glad to get your suggestions on the best route to take on our proposed application considering the information below:

I am 36 years old while my spouse is 32. We both have 8 and 6 years of experience in the financial services sector respectively. She is a Chartered Accountant; it would appear that the skilled occupation relevant to her is Accountant (General): 221111.

I have had a few years of experience as a Branch Manager in the banking industry. Though my role has been changed to a "Relationship Manager", I also figured that the most related skilled occupation class (CSOL) is Financial Institution Branch Manager: 149914

My overall IELTS score was 7.5 while that of my wife was 7. My qualifications include BSc, MBA while my wife has BSc and ACA. Our academic qualifications had earlier been assessed by ICAS to be equivalent to the Canadian 4 year Bachelor's degree program.

My wife was the principal applicant when we applied for the Canadian Express Entry because of some perceived advantages (age, occupation). We are a family of 4.

My questions are: 1. With the information that I supplied above, what are our chances under the Australian Migration programme?
2. Who has better chances of securing Australian PR so that he/she can apply on behalf of the family?
3. How much are we supposed to have as a "proof of fund"? Thank you.
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by mrsdee: 6:21am On Sep 13, 2015
The ielts result needs band 7 in each to obtain the 10 points.
It seems your wife has a better chance of getting positive assessment because she is chartered.

2. Who has better chances of securing Australian PR so that he/she can apply on behalf of the family?
3. How much are we supposed to have as a "proof of fund"? Thank you.

No proof of funds required.

You can read the thread and understand about the process. Also, there is a chartered accountant here that can throw more light about assessment for accountants.

My 2k contribution. All the best.

Hi bellong and erictak2003,
thanks so much for ur answers, the whole passport and payment option thingy was looking so tangled but you guys cleaned it up with just a few posts!

@bellong, UQ is more than willing to accept card payments, they even said they will divide the transactions into smaller units should my card's daily limit be exceeded.

It was all a good problem in the end cos during the past few days I went over all my docs again and after carefully comparing it with what was on the border.gov.au website, I realised my birth certificate might not meet their standard-- its not Full/unabridged. I'll be visiting the ppl at the NPC office in PH to see how quickly I can get the right paper.

the only way I can repay the good ppl of this forum is to do a concise stepwise write up of my experience after everything so others can pick a thing or two

happy sunday

The program is called Skillselect. You can use the links provided above to perform a point test. The 190 subclass requires 55 points while the 189- 60 points, 489 - 50 points

2. Who has better chances of securing Australian PR so that he/she can apply on behalf of the family?

A master's degree does not readily give you an edge in the process. Neither does it give you more points as you get 15 points for either a Masters or a Bsc, except if course u have a phd.
As for skills assessment, I don't know much for accountants but some folks here say ICAN /ACA makes it easier to get a favorable outcome. Not really sure!

You would have to carefully calculate/determine who has higher points. When is your wife turning 33? Age of 25-32 gives you 30 points while 33-39 gives u 25 points
If she still has some time and her English scores give her 10 points, I'd suggest she applies as the principal.
Also note that work experience only counts if it is post qualification. So including a higher degree obtained while working reduces years of relevant work experience

3. How much are we supposed to have as a "proof of fund"? Thank you.
If you intend to obtain the 189 or 190 visa, proof of funds are not required. For the 489, certain states recommend yiu have a certain amount but it is not a requirement for a visa. I'd recommend either 189 or 190 though.

My overall take - I strongly recommend you can get additional 5 points - partner points. You do this by both being accessed but both of your ANZSCO codes have to be on the same list (SOL or CSOL). You will need it cos accountants are being issued invitations on pro rata basis now owing to the high numbers of EOIs. You stand a better chance if you have 70 points, at least 65.

As per PTE, you are already talking to the right person @mrs dee cheesy. I used the links she provided to prepare for the exam.

@scrollmeout, guys here are really wonderful, Google doesn't even come close. I hope to be able to contribute to the brain pool one day.
Frim the experiences if close friends, new passport = new passport no, but as long as you notify the relevant embassies then it is no big deal.

What I have is birth certificate, from the info I gathered, people born after 1992 can't get the NPC birth certificate but only an attestation so I intend going to the NPC for the Attestation.

How was your experience at the NPC in PH?
Did you get a birth certificate or attestation?
Where is the place in PH?
What are the requirements? I was told I'd need an affidavit or so
Cost?
Do u hv any contact there that can help in expediting things

thanks
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by Nobody: 12:30pm On Sep 13, 2015
@scrollmeout, when they renew ur passport, they just place a stamp on d old one, the stamp reads CANCELLED WITHOUT PREJUDICE. they give it back t u as well as the new one which now carries a new number.

the way I understand it you can continue any processing as before by simply informing the authority you are processing with of the new passport. I understand this can be done even during a Visa application

Your scores will not give the 10 points for English. One needs to score at least 7 in each of the parts.
Pte (Pearson test of English language) is another form of English language exam that one can take. I took Pte and got my required score. Ielts has a history of giving 6.5 in writing and I didn't want to waste my time with them.
