There was nothing special about my application.
Mine, was an application that broke protocol.

Good evening house.

Following up on my initial post. Yes, I hv be delayed twice due to my own error and lack of formation.

My first application was full of mistakes.
Delayed on the following reasons:
•insufficient and available financial resources...
•my travel history
• purpose of visit
•my current employment situation
•my personal assets and financial status.

Second application was bit better.
• Insufficient and available financial resources...
• Sponsorship not credible. (submitted details of someone who wanted to offer me a free accommodation throughout my study stay.

Now I believe I'm more informed on how to go about it. I'm @ the moment put all my Doc together all thanks to u all.

I wld be so glad if the guru in the house cld help me review my SOP .

Thank you all.

@emperoracro, thank you boss! Would their statement of account still be needed? other gurus in the house, what do you think?

If the cooperative is the one sponsoring you, it's statement of Acct is not necessary + a letter of sponsorship and the (rules/conditions attached to such sponsorship) if it's a scholarship.

I don't think cooperative society will fly o (except God who can do all things just favour you), however it will be better if they can pay into your account, if possible the total funds you'll need for your program, but if that is not possible, let them pay 10,000 CAD (living expenses for a year) + your tuition fee + miscellaneous expenses fee into your account. You will need to submit the cooperative's SoA, and also a sponsorship letter from the executives (preferably the principal signatories to the account), also get a reference letter from the bank introducing the signatories to the embassy and if possible get the CAC registration pack of the cooperative).
Some of them may not be too compulsory, but when one is using sponsors different from one's parents.....one has to show so much proof, as to why the person/group wanna sponsor the person and if truly they will fulfill their sponsorship claim. So it is better to be over prepared than to be under prepared. Let them in the sponsorship letter state why they chose to sponsor you. There are hundreds of thousand Nigerians seeking sponsorship to study even in Nigeria talkless of abroad, why did they choose to expend so much money on you, why did they choose you in particular. Let the sponsorship letter be very convincing that it is not scam. You can prepare the letter yourself, and you can think of very good reasons why an organization may decide to sponsor a student. But pls let it not be because your mum is part of the cooperative society.
I wish you good luck

Yes their statement of account would still be needed. Also, make sure in their sponsorship letter they explicitly and clearly state why they are sponsoring you and how much exactly they will drop per year.

I agree with @ayooluwatoni that the VO is likely to be skeptical about the sponsorship, so the burden is on you to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they would indeed be funding you and that this is not some ruse. Best.

@thesoj, ayooluwatoni, phonesNgadgets. Thanks so much for your contributions. Its just a year post grad course and I was considering having them pay the total tuition fee of 14k and upkeep of 10k into my account. I used their statement in my first application but it didn't fly. meanwhile, the sponsorship letter states that my mom has been their member for over 15 years and they will be sponsoring on her behalf.

It doesn't matter if it's only a year prog. Even if it's a 1mnths prog., you need to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the cooperative movement has the means of sponsoring you, and one of the vital and necessary dox needed to prove the financial support for your study is statement of acct. In your case, since you are presenting the cooperative society as ur sponsor, you need the dox stated by ayo and thesoj. (Even if all the fund you need will be transferred into your own acct, you need to prove that the transfer is not a sham. You need to prove that the cooperative has enough capital after your acct has been funded)

It depends on how financially loaded the cooperative society is. But it's not a bad idea if your relative could be a co-sponsor as well. Your Dad,Mum or close relative (preferably with same surname, but not mandatory smiley )
All the best bro.

All you need is a sponsorship/award letter from your LG. Because on a good day, you can never have access to their statement of account.

Ah! Na local govt u wan use? Canadian embassy takes this issue of SoA seriously o, even if your document is complete and the VO is not satisfied with your financial status, they won't grant ur trv o. So my Candid advise, try your best possible to get a convincing sponsor, if eventually u do not get one, then you can go on with the Local Govt sponsorship. But you will need to really convince the VO o, the Accounting officer/principal signatory to the local govt acct will have to give you a sponsorship letter, u will need the LG's SoA, you may need bank's reference letter. If possible, try and hustle out some money and pay into ur account in the name of the LG, and let it be stated in the sponsorship letter that an upfront fee had been paid into your account already and the rest would be paid after your TRV has been issued. Please try your best to convince the VO without any reasonable doubt that the LG will sponsor you! Under a normal circumstance, it shouldn't have been a big deal that the LG is sponsoring you, but with what our brothers and sisters have done and are doing all around the world (scams and fraud), it has made it so difficult for these people to trust us, except they see 100% evidence and are satisfied with what they see. So pls try your best!
I wish you good luck

I know any company or business entity fully reserves the right to sponsor whomever it so pleases but i'd like to take a step back and ask a few questions,
1. Do you work for this cooperative in question and hold perhaps a management position ?
2. if the answer is yes to #1, for how long have you worked for the cooperative to have decided to sponsor you besides your mum being a member?
3. Is there any conditions attached to this sponsorship like returning to work for them etc?
4. Is your mum a director for the cooperative?
In my opinion the whole cooperative sponsorship will be deemed shifty by a VO if some of 1-4 above do not apply to you compared to say your mum obtained a loan from her cooperative which she will use to pay all expenses in full for purposes of investment in your education which i think cuts through a lot of clutter in addition to documents showing your home ties. I may be wrong but it's just a suggestion.

Everybody or almost everybody gets the dispatch mail, but there should be an approval mail (a mail from embassy telling you ur application has been approved) before the dispatch mail. Although some people here didn't get the approval mail too, they only got the dispatch mail, and their trv was approved by the time they picked up their documents at vfs vac. So don't panic, if you've gotten two separate emails telling u ur processed passport/application has been dispatched, go to the VAC and pick up ur passport, but if u haven't gotten the mails, just wait, u will get them soon.
