Experience is needed in one way or the other, especially for European games. The defence you listed don't have many years of European experience under their belt and it could be fatal for the team.

You're right but Mata really has to play now and LVG is not even considering him for the №10 role at all and Herrera is not doing badly there. Valencia too could be given a shot.
