Hi guys, please I have a few questions I would like to ask....what's the best and cheapest accommodation plan as a student in canada On campus or off campus?

How realistic is it to get a job to do while studying and how much on the average can you earn?

Anyone here studying at vancouver island university
Currently or someone who has gotten admission for spring session? I would like to ask some specific questions.

Bros, after reading through your responses. I realize that there's a number of things you need to address in your next application.

a) You did not state your 2002-2005 job. This leads me to conclude that you had an unexplained gap from 2002-2005 in your application. This alone is likely to raise questions in the mind of the VO. You can't leave this period blank and unexplained. Figure out something. I still can't understand why you decided to omit the 2006-2008 certificate. In any case, you absolutely need to write an SOP to explain to the VO your peculiar educational trajectory.

b) Between 2009 and now, you have been working. You need to describe in your SOP how these two jobs have influenced your decision to pursue a BSc in Kinesiology.

c) You finished your secondary school more than fifteen years ago. This raises many unanswered questions to the VO: why didn't this applicant do a BSc in the >fifteen years since he finished secondary school? Why is this applicant wanting to do a BSc in Canada? Why now?

Bros, you need to write a strong SOP to reconcile your educational and employment trajectory with your decision to now pursue a BSc. Also, the SOP will need to address why you have specifically chosen Canada when in the last >fifteen years you could have chosen to go to another country to do a BSc in, including Nigeria. Your previous application was likely denied because the VO was not convinced that you are a genuine student. The burden of proof is on you to convince CIC that you are a genuine student, this is why it would be extremely important for you to write a comprehensive and convincing SOP to address all the issues stated. Best.

Only the photocopy of your pictures are allowed presently unlike before. New stance I guess...

Hey bros, you don't need anybody else's format. Just tell your own story of why you are going for a BSc in light of your prior education and employment trajectory. View the links in this post and you will see sample SOPs, just make sure you don't copy any part of another person's SOP as this is plagiarism. Your SOP will have to be different from any other person's in order to adequately address your own peculiar situation.

Once you write a rough draft, you can contact someone on this thread to give you suggestions on how to improve it.

1. Canada may as well share any data deemed fit with USA, admittedly or not, but you have nothing to worry about regarding a recent visa denial from either country, so far you are not a threat to national security. I was denied by US twice and applied to Canada (without any reference to the US visa denial) and got it.

2. In my opinion, it will do you a lot of good if the company can pay full tuition. My reason is any sponsor that's not one's parent or very close relative, let alone not an individual but an entity like the 'company' that wants to sponsor you must really show their financial commitment to the VO in ways more than a bogus bank statement with good cash flow. I believe paying full tuition is one of these.

3. US embassy na sharp sharp tinz Oga. You will have an interview with the Visa Officer which finalises if one is given the visa or not. If you're lucky to get an available close date, you can get the US visa within 2 weeks IF the interview goes well. Also visit the US visa thread on Nairaland because US visa interview is a different ballgame. You are highly favoured in Jesus name.

Yes, you'll need to study if you want to get a good score. Writing & listening are usually challenging for candidates who aren't well prepared.
You can find materials online.

I'm not in Vancouver but usually off-campus residence is cheaper.

Jobs has been covered extensively in Part 8 but in summary, it depends on where you are, what your skill set is & what you're willing to do. The easiest jobs to come by are usually labour intensive & pay minimum wage (or just a little more) which differs depending on the province. Students work 20hrs/wk term time so money earned isn't that much, say $650-$700/month after tax deductions.
Not everyone gets jobs that offer up to 20hrs/wk though.

@meko007 Yes they automatically exchange information when you apply to either embassy. Don't even think about withholding this information. See this and this.

@sholay2011 glad you got your TRV without stating your prior US denial. smiley This is often grounds for getting an application denied.

Read the last 40 pages at which point you will get an OK initial insight. You may also go through the links in this post to get started on finding schools and more. If you still feel lost after the above recommended reading, then start reading from page 1 of Part 8, and read at least 100 straight pages. Good things don't always come easy, but you will thank yourself after doing the reading as it will help you gain significant insight into the process.

Also, you are welcome to come back and ask specific questions after doing all the above reading. In addition, don't forget that Google is your friend smiley

Woah! You mean I am actually expected to state that I have been denied by the US? And where would I even state that (SOP?) 'cos it's not like there is a special column for that?

O ga ooo.

U dont have to notarize, but if you however insist, he does not have to sign anything, the notary public in charge will sign it and put a seal on it.
