Saraki: Civil Society Groups, NANS Plan Protests In Embassies by Nairadean(m): 12:31am On Sep 20, 2015 |
A coalition of civil society organisations under the aegis of Heritage Centre and the National Association of Nigerian Students have threatened to lead mass protests to foreign embassies in Abuja to protest alleged political vendetta against Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, but gave no date for it. They were reacting to the order of Saraki’s arrest by Code of Conduct Tribunal over alleged falsification in his assets declaration. The Director-General of HC, Dr. Katch Ononuju and NANS President, Tijani Usman, who issued the threat during a press briefing on Saturday evening in Abuja, said it was a witch-hunt against the Senate President by what he described as political ‘cabals,’ who should be put under checks by the Federal Government. Ononuju said, “The President makes appointments and does not refer them to the Senate for confirmation because he does not like the leadership there. Our democracy is under threat and that is why we are talking to Nigerians. Since President Muhammadu Buhari took over, everything is going down. We are calling on the Chief Justice of Nigeria to protect the integrity of the courts by ensuring that injunctions are respected. We are to march to every embassy to tell them that our democracy is under threat. “The President lacks the political will to fight corruption. We are very worried with the turn out of things. The action by the Senate to appoint its own leadership is the reason behind this witch-hunt. Accidents have been arranged for senators who supported Saraki. “The DSS has been used to trail senators. The current CCB should not exist. The current leadership came into office in 2010 and their tenure ought to have elapsed in April 2015. The power that seeks to undermine our democracy and the Senate is gaining the upper hand. I sincerely want corruption to be fought headlong, but we do not want a return to the days of Olusegun Obasanjo, where arrests where targeted.” http://www.punchng.com/news/saraki-civil-society-groups-nans-plan-protests-in-embassies/ 2 Likes |

Height of senselessness. How much were they paid? Ordinary appear before tribunal to clarify what he claimed to have,he's running around looking for court injunction & hiring protesters to defend him. The seat you occupy as the No. 3 citizen of Nigeria is for honourable individuals, and you aren't acting like one. Monday is hours away, and the drama continues. 4 Likes |

Katch Ononuju and Tijani Usman, both of you should come and see me in the office. I know you are all looking for money but my advice to you is not to collect money that will land you both in kirikiri. For your information, if Saraki escape this we are still going to squeeeezzzz his balls for tax evation. One way or the other some people are going to retire into a 10' by 10' cell. There will be no concurrent prison term any more in Nigeria; it will be consecutive. 13 count charges at 5 year each. Let say Saraki is looking at 65 years. Any day I see a politician sent to prison for more than 50 years in Nigeria, I will relocate to Naija the same month. Sai Change. |

Nigerian youths exposing their destiny to ridicule. Nobody should tell me they are not going to be paid for this useless protest by Saraki and his associates. Those Wailers will not be under the Sun all day, transport themselves and risk harm for free. NANS should first tell us who is paying them and how much. Yeye! |

egift: YOU will first need to tell us how much YOUR JagbaJantis of Bourdillon paid the dramatis personae to put up the show of persecution & shame on his Nation newspaper & TVC station. Hope you know how much $$$$$$$$ millions he paid and can tell us here instead of blowing plenty grammar of MISPLACED aggression that do not address the systemic problems of LAW & ORDER that our society has with corruption. Rather you prefer exciting dramas & shows to dazzle your fellow 200 million mumus that takes us NOWHERE like what Obasanjo did for eight years. www.nairaland.com/attachments/2467944_obasanjotransparencyrating2004_jpegf577f3dadf99ddddb409ec370bb5548d www.nairaland.com/attachments/2608719_transparencyintl_corruptionimprove2014_jpegd841e1e015b6b1cdf5ddd85e12d9bfb5 |

phlemzy: Was that not EXACTLY what VP Osinbajo did for Sanusi over his alleged FRAUD when he was governor of CBN before he started telling STORIES of changing, inconsistent amounts lost in NNPC barcanista: The FRCN’s report on Sanusi The decision to suspend the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Sanusi Lamido was based on a report of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria dated June 7, 2013. The report was made after a review of Sanusi’s response to the query issued to him by the President over the apex bank’s financial statement of 2012. His response was dated May 20, 2013. According to a copy of the report obtained by our correspondent on Thursday, the council indicates that the explanation provided by the suspended CBN governor is “a clear display of incompetence, nonchalance, fraud, wastefulness, and abuse of due process and deliberate efforts to misrepresent facts on the part of the leadership of the CBN.” The council advised the President to exercise the powers conferred on him by Section 11(2)(f) of the CBN Act 2007 or invoke Section 11(2)(c) of the said Act “and cause the governor and the deputy governors to cease from holding office in the CBN.” The report read: The particulars of the infractions against Sanusi are: Persistent refusal and/or negligence to comply with the Public Procurement Act in the procurement practices of the Central Bank of Nigeria. (A) By virtue of Section 15 (1)(a) of the Public Procurement Act, the provisions of the Act are expected to comply to ‘all procurement of goods, works and services carried out by the Federal Government of Nigeria and all procurement entities.’ This definition clearly includes the Central Bank of Nigeria. (B) It is however regrettable that the Central Bank of Nigeria, under his leadership, has refused and/or neglected to comply with the provisions of the Public Procurement Act (PPA). You will recall that one of the primary reasons for the enactment of the PPA was the need to promote transparency, competitiveness, cost of effectiveness and professionalism in the public sector procurement system. anonimi:The Sanusi here was not the No. 3 citizen of the nation and Saraki is not an appointed Head of a financial institution. The seat occupied by Saraki is a venerable one,and he must act as such. |
