Saraki: Civil Society Groups, NANS Plan Protests In Embassies by sirvic01(m): 9:33pm On Sep 19, 2015
A coalition of civil society organisations under the aegis of Heritage Centre and the National Association of Nigerian Students have threatened to lead mass protests to foreign embassies in Abuja to protest alleged political vendetta against Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, but gave no date for it.

They were reacting to the order of Saraki’s arrest by Code of Conduct Tribunal over alleged falsification in his assets declaration.

The Director-General of HC, Dr. Katch Ononuju and NANS President, Tijani Usman, who issued the threat during a press briefing on Saturday evening in Abuja, said it was a witch-hunt against the Senate President by what he described as political ‘cabals,’ who should be put under checks by the Federal Government.

Ononuju said, “The President makes appointments and does not refer them to the Senate for confirmation because he does not like the leadership there. Our democracy is under threat and that is why we are talking to Nigerians. ‎Since President Muhammadu Buhari took over, everything is going down. We are calling on the Chief Justice of Nigeria to protect the integrity of the courts by ensuring that injunctions are respected. We are to march to every embassy to tell them that our democracy is under threat.

“The President lacks the political will to fight corruption. We are very worried with the ‎turn out of things. The action by the Senate to appoint its own leadership is the reason behind this witch-hunt. Accidents have been arranged for senators who supported Saraki.

“The DSS has been used to trail senators. The current CCB should not exist. The current leadership came into office in 2010 and their tenure ought to have elapsed in April 2015. The power that seeks to undermine our democracy and the Senate is gaining the upper hand. I sincerely want corruption to be fought headlong, but we do not want a return to the days of Olusegun Obasanjo, where arrests where targeted.”

The Director-General of HC, Dr. Katch Ononuju and NANS President, Tijani Usman, who issued the threat during a press briefing on Saturday evening in Abuja
Dr. Katch Ononuju is a PDP member disguising as a CSO person. He even represented PDP in one of the earlier debates on AIT in a run-up to the 2015 elections. He is a wailer and should not to be taken seriously. His actions are neither altruistic nor Patriotic.

The crux of the matter remains....Is Saraki guilty or not?Eziachi was fucking right!!! Nigerians pretend to hate corruption outwardly but cherish it within...
How can a sane group or society come out for this trash called 'a purpose'?

The Nigerian schools is surely the breeding ground for corrupt individuals.

who are these paid groups ffor goodness sake? The law is very clear on this matter. A protest in Washington DC and London won't and can't change anything. Saraki should stop hiding behind paid groups because it won't save him. He should tender all his explanations to the Judge.

you can protest all you like from Geneva to Washington. it cannot affect the process and decision of the tribunal. "Political witch hunting" is not a defense in court. Witch hunting does not say if you are accused, you shouldn't clear or defend yourself. You can only raise objection or appeal if the process is not credible.
Saraki like me enjoys no immunity from prosecution. He is not the first to be summoned by the CCT. A "MERE GOVERNOR" Bola Tinubu appeared before the tribunal to clear his name.

Keep deceiving yourself... Buhari is not serious and ready to fight corruption.. He is just disguising political vendetta as fighting corruption. We can easily see though that.. How can you fight corruption without declaring your assets publicly

Seriously our democracy is under threat,Buhari is not a democrat. So someone can not aspire to become something in this country on his own, without getting endorsement from certain quarters and we say we want to fight Godfatherism.Saraki said he had the numbers and he presented it and got the office and ppl dat don't have the numbers want to muscle him and get his office thru the back door. Impossible, unless we are not practicing democracy. SAY NO TO GODFATHERISM SAY NO TO IMPOSITION Our democracy is under threat,we must rise up to protect our democracy!!!!!!

We the enlightened masses will not support political witch hunting as anti corruption efforts. We stand by Saraki, Buhari should update us on his asset declaration.

If these so called civil society group or fraction of shameless NANS dare the people by going out to protest the arrest warrant issued on Saraki instead of advising him to appear before the CCT, they should also be ready to face a powerful counter protest from the people against them.
Anyway let us assume that this is one of the weekend talk, attention seekers and gbemite who are looking for per head.
