Buhari who could not account for 2.8 billion naira oil money when he was young how can he manage his office with oil money now he is old? I advice him not to hold it cause if he escaped the first stealing he will not be lucky enough to escape this time. 2 Likes |

We still will not have the complete list despite the four month preparation period. O ga o! So how many months again will it take to compile the remaining names? I want to believe that this government is aware that four years is just around the corner. 2 Likes |

mykl01: Oil is not the emphasis but gas which you know is the future. What people like you do not realize is that the so called innovators only advertize the pros of their innovations but keep the cons in wraps. Solar technology still has a long way to go, China pretends to have solved the panel problem but who solved the battery problem? Most Electric cars are useless outside the country where the OEM's exist, by and large, Hybrid is the way to go such that you resort to Thermodynamics after your battery has parked. The Solar heater has been around for a while but why is it unpopular? The rays from the sun is converged using a reflective Parabola, it heats a steel tank containing water which flows into a lagged medium for storage, that is the easiest and cost effective but bros! the most effective of all the lagging materials available can only hold for 6hrs. Some guys still generate heating capability from the panel and battery set up, but the starting current threshold will be very expensive, Oil is phasing out no doubt but Gas remains the future. While you follow technological trends, wear a more realistic lens, BTW hope you got tested for Ebola!! @OP, Buhari being the Petroleum minister is a bad idea, we lived through the bureaucracies created with that arrangement under Obasanjo, it was so bad that Nigeria resorted to PSC for survival in the industry, Refineries went to coma etc. Overall, we expect that a Buhari would approach it differently with more sincerity of purpose unlike OBJ. In my opinion, the petroleum ministry should be run from the office of the special adviser to the president on Petroleum matters, if he really doesn't want a minister, then a technocrat will fill that void, I have no doubt in his competence to get it right there after all his sojourn as a federal commissioner gave birth to the Warri refinery, who knows what he has on the table now, we can only wait it out. Nigerians should learn how to criticize with sense. |

BabaO2:Yes, Permanent secretaries run ministries. They implement the policies of the ruling party. The ruling party come with their manifesto including their economic blue print. The Perm secs with the civil servants implement these policies using machinery on ground. The ministers come up with policies and supervise the implementation. Permanent secretaries are like slave robots. They adjust to the direction of any new government. They only maintain the rules of civil services when want to and break it when they also want to because they know all the loopholes. They are the most corrupt and can loot without being caught because they have learnt the ropes after being in the system for so long. |

I back this move 150%. Reforming comatose institutions that have been decimated by corruption, incompetence, cronyism and decay means that certain positions/tasks cannot be delegate and must be handled by the very person who believes in the need for reform above all else. In short Buhari must handle, reform and reposition this very important make-or-break sector himself if his Presidency is to succeed. 1 Like |

Re: I Will Be Petroluem Minister-Buhari by obailala(m): 12:50pm On Sep 30, 2015 |
agabaI23:It is a very sensitive position that has always led to needless controversies and fraud. If Buhari thinks he has the wherewithal to be the president and also be in charge of the most important ministry in Nigeria, then I would rather have a Buhari whom I trust heading that ministry. Of what benefit is it to you or I or any other Nigerian if someone is appointed into that position?.... What I am concerned about is efficiency, and if buhari thinks it is best he handles it personally, I am totally in support of that. Besides, there would be a Minister for State so by this action, PMB is only trying to keep a close eye on the ministry. |
