On the social front, we shall aim to finally solve the problem of unmarried women in our midst, because they really (if you actually study the problem) constitute a security risk to Biafra. We must adopt a marriage system that allows ALL women to have husbands, because not doing so will allow situations which enemies can capitalize on.
Currently the problem is already there, still manageable but gradually excalating.
In the days of our ancestors, the problem did not exist, or at least it was not as "epidemic" as it is now.
Sooner or later we must acknowledge that this is a problem to our future security.
I'm willing to twik our marriage laws to adopt our ancestral practices to help ensure that all our women have husbands.
If we are willing to invent a whole new language for Biafra, it is very easy to simply dust up our ancestral marriage traditions and institutions to solve this problem in Biafra.

Nwa nnem, while the intention behind this your idea is noble, i dare say however that a State getting involved in the marriage habits of its citizens, does come across as somewhat paternalistic . . .

Such tendencies are found more in stagnating feudal States or communist environments where the citizens are deprived of individual liberties by the State and not trusted enough to make the right decisions about their personal lives. Such paternalistic tendencies, to be honest, are not in the least progressive and should not be the lot of Biafrans.

The leadership of Modern Biafra should create the enabling environment for all its citizens to be able live freely within the law and be able to express themselves and attain whatever it is they wish to achieve with their lives. And while these enabling laws should be founded on the traditions of the different peoples that make up Biafra, they must be refined to reflect modern understanding of human behaviour and aspirations. It is imperative therefore that the individual liberties of all peoples living within Biafra are protected by law and not stifled by atavistic belief systems!

The State must therefore refrain from interfering with people's personal life choices and experiences provided they do not infringe on the liberties of others. It should not be the role of the State to make decisions about when people should get married, what or who they choose to believe in etc. The State must instead occupy itself with creating that enabling socio-political environment that allows all Biafran citizens to be the best they can be. This we must aspire to, if we want a truly modern and progressive society that we can be proud of.

And while we hope that our lovely women all settle down and not end up 'roaming the streets', it would be somewhat misplaced to think it is the role of the State to get them all betrothed. Infact it is worth acknowledging that not all women, or indeed men at that, will choose to end up their lives shackled to somebody in matrimony! Nwa nnem, not all in these modern times will make that choice. . .

People like you will always reason from the wrong end! To all the succinct points the man raised, all you could reply was a terse rhetoric!

Great leaders don't march his poor innocent people to war if he knows he cannot win or will not die with them. He must not value his life more than those millions that died.

What a self-serving cowardly leader is that who ran away from the war for his dear life while his people died in millions? Only Ojukwu!

List the names of leaders who died in war front.

Wait o o, where did Ojukwu mentioned that he ran away?

The statement in bold is your own and not mine. How dare you put the Palestinian question into the same bigotry as ibos'? Palestine was a country until the creation of Israel and the subsequent wars, especially in 1967 which displaced millions of them. Their right to return to their country and end the Israeli occupation is the matter before the UN in the form of "Two-State solution to which overwhelming majority of UN member states ascribed to.

Before your schizophrenic wish for ibo's own country deteriorates your already intellectual feebleness further, there is no comparison between the Palestinian issue and biafra.

In your disorganised delusions you flippantly declared 'biafra has Nine States" without saying which states have signed up to join biafra or whether there is an official request pending before the Nigerian Parliament!

At this juncture, I must reiterate that leaders of old biafra had declared biafra dead or ceased to exist, yet people like you who have nothing better to do than mischief keep throwing up tribal bigotry around ibo issues as if you are the only tribe in Nigeria.

As stated, Nigeria did far better without the Ibos during the war and emerged relatively unscratched while the ibos saw hell on earth without Nigeria, just to stress the point of who is the armed robber and victim!

In short, your confused noise about building your biafra by displaying a collection of foreign pictures without exploring the wherewithal, the origins, architectural history, the wars fought, history and development of the nation state, philosophy and economy has taken your hallucinations to raving madness.

Lest you don't know, UN has no mandate to divide a sovereign country into tribal countries or even to interfere in internal domestic politics of member states as far as no one tribe is being persecuted. But then your bigotry won't let you see reason.

For your mind you've made some valid points?

Check this out.

Thanks bro. I honestly believe that Biafra will be totally different from Nigeria. In fact it is self evident.
I am inspired by my conviction that Nigeria can NEVER EVER offer us same opportunity for peace and development.

Still crunching my numbers though cheesy
what is biafra, a tribe without leader.

Clearly this issue is a very touchy one, but we must still address it.

Nwanne m, I never said that the STATE WILL MAKE DECISIONS for anybody about how to marry or who to marry. What I stated is that there should be FREEDOM of MARRIAGE, between men and women of course. There are many ways the state can help encourage a desirable home and marriage for citizens -tax incentive is one of them. The state must not force anybody to marry. The goal is simple, encourage as much marriage-age ladies to be married as possible!
In that freedom of marriage, men should be incentivized to (1) Marry on time; (2) Marry more than one women if they can afford it. This is not unChristian. A lot has happened in the history to make this seem unChristian, but all the men close to God in the Bible were all polygynists, including Abraham.
This issue is BIG and frightens a lot of people, but what I fear more is a situation whereby our ladies are not married. All kinds of evil things happen as a consequence. We cannot have a country patrolled by unarmed beat policemen, free of crimes and ruled by collective responsibility if we don't revisit our past as Africans, to examine what worked for us before the colonialists came.

if we say we are people of God and He is our God, then we must do his bidden. I do not agree to having polygamous home in biafra. Even laws should be made to make biafra a monogamous family country. The traditional ways where ways of d dark before d light did come. Now d light has come xo we must reflect in its beams and be a radiant glow. We must not derail from Gods word or be plauge for disobeidence as d people of isreal were once too many shown.

My brother, I have actually researched and thought about this problem for a very long time. As a STRONG Christian (apart from my security concerns) I believe that what we have now makes too much room for ADULTERY and FORNICATION both of which are expressly stated in the Bible and in the 10 commandments that God hates, and both of which are pervading Biafraland as we speak.
I would encourage you to do your own independent research on monogamy; you can start with a simple Google search: "History of monogamy"; or "Is Polygamy Biblical", or something along those lines. I started doing the research when I became alarmed at the number of divorces happening in countries that force monogamy. In fact in those countries, what you have is SERIAL MONOGAMY -some men marry and divorce 8 (EIGHT) times in their life times; but Jesus was clear that a divorced woman has only been made an adulterer by her husband. The only narrow room Jesus allowed was if a woman committed adultery. People divorce for all kinds of things in such societies. What we have now is a very SELFISH and SELF CENTERED marriage system which breeds ADULTERY, GREED and WICKEDNESS. If we don't control greed and wickedness Biafra will not be different from Nigeria.
For your information, nearly ALL of the men closest to God in the Bible starting from Abraham to David were all polygamous.

My brother you can show me where God commanded Isreal not to be polygamous, and I will stand corrected.
Nobody knows it all, for sure.

Your copy and paste response to original thought cannot bring you biafra from the grave! Neither is South Sudan born out of tribal bigotry or false premise for the Ibos to have a country of their own. In deed, Biafra is a minority ibo project, e.g., Kanu, MASSOB.

I will tell you what you need to know about South Sudan before latching onto it because it is a false example for biafra. Firstly, South Sudan is part of Sub-Saharan Africa subsumed into Ottoman Caliphate of Egypt in the Sahel region, including Sudan in the 19th century. South Sudan was never part of Sahel region geographically!

South Sudan has 5 major tribes and about 75 other sub-tribes unlike biafra, which is a fruitless Ibo tribal country quest, albeit a dead one!
South Sudan has international boundaries with six African countries: Kenya, Uganda, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan but Ibos are entirely surrounded by Nigeria and totally dependent on Nigeria from air, land and sea.

South Sudan had been fighting Sudan for almost 40 years. During this period, there were countless massacres, crimes against humanity, famines and countless deaths. This is the condition for UN to get involved in internal affairs of member states. To prevent genocide or ethnic cleansing!

Even so, the Peace Agreement that made possible the referendum and subsequent independence was mediated by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development and a consortium of donor countries. As an impartial referee, the UN sponsored and supervised the referendum. Note that none of these could have been possible without the agreement of the warring parties. UN does not impose referendum or create countries.

In your desperation for biafra, you can grasp at any illogicality to buttress a stale tale. For us, Nigerians, the tale of vanquished biafra is a non-issue but your dogmatism is the chief source of your ignorance. Finally, you can't create biafra from the internet but you can make noise all you want.

Mr man
Biafra existed even before Britain
So your opening analogy is already floored
As for palestaine
They occupied a land owned by an exiled isreal who where ravaged and taken into slavery by the romans
The isrealites after so much persecussion in the hands of the descendants of the romans (contemporary europeans) decided in the 1940's to return back to their original ancenstral land which resulted in conflict with the occuping palestinians (called philistines in the medivial era)
Ask your self
Are this names jerusalem, bethlahem, galilie. Palestinian names
If they are
What do they mean in arabic or what ever language the palestinians speak
Remember every name has a meaning in the language it came from

Boy, why do you want to make a fool of yourself on social medium with half-baked dictum and gibberish?

The name Bethlehem is called Bayt Lahm in Arabic, which means "House of meat". As far back as 1330 BC it was inhabited by Canaanites.
Galilee was called al-jalil in Arabic and Ha Galil in Hebrew. The Bible names for these towns were adulterations created by translators of the bible. You don't swallow the bible whole, sink, hook and line without question.

The Bible has four methods of allegorical interpretation: literal, anagogic, typological and tropological but an inept rookie like you will gorge at it gleefully. Further, if you believe that the Jews and Arabs were both descendants of Abraham, then your reference to Palestinians as occupiers shows the depth of your ignorance.

Without delving further into history of the Middle East or origins of the bible, suffice it to say that the Palestinians and Israelis have equal rights to the land within the 1967 borders. You only confound your ignorance by equating any of the references to these peoples as applicable to the ibos and biafra dream! They do not.

Me too bro, but it is not because of the colonialist ideology. I do so because I can't handle more than one woman at the same time. But there are others who can.
Honestly this issue will be handled easily in Biafra because our culture (when allowed to play itself out unimpeded) is very close to the Israelite of the Bible culture. Colonialism (and its continued existence through neo-colonialist "countries" like Nigeria) has dealt us a very bad hand.

I thought of somting, we should limit d number of churchs to a bearest minimum. We dont want to have hundreds of churchs like is in nigeria. There must be stiff requirement like a sound proof building etc to disqualify many of them, so dat we wont be so much divided by many church denominations.

On "Churches", in Biafra we shall encourage agglomeration (rather than proliferation) of churches. There should be a "Biafran Church", one created by our theologians and anthropologists for Biafrans.
To me though, the real "church" is the one embeded in the individual citizen. Our bodies are the temple of the Most High, and His spirit lives there. Jesus (THE bread of life) stated this when he said that what defiles a person is what comes from inside. That is why we must discourage ALL forms of body abuse: adultery, fornication, debauchery, whoremongering, gluttony, alcoholism, m.a.stur.bation -all things that DEFILE the body, hence destroying the temple of the Most High Chukwu Okike Abiama, our God.

This thread is about HOW BIAFRA WILL BE BETTER THAN NIGERIA.

It is NOT about South Sudan, Eritrea, or any other jaundiced imaginations that you futilly try to yoke Biafra (unequally I must add) to in any way, shape or form: THEY ARE NOT related to Biafra. You cannot compare Germany with Greece just because they are both European. To do so would be very st.upid.

Biafra currently boasts some of the best human resource pool in Black Africa -our peoples are technocrats and engineers working for such High tech companies as NASA and BOEING. Our peoples attend top schools worldwide (MIT, Harvard, etc) and have received awards of excellence from GLOBAL bodies.

Our history in Biafra (eastern corner of "Nigeria" . ) has been one of mutual respect and peace. Nobody colonized another in thousands of years of our existence before the arrival of the colonialists. We are one people and we are about 90+% Christian.

Next is Industry/Manufacturing:

This sector shall received MAXIMUM attention by the Biafran state. Basically suffice to say that technology shall form the legs upon which the nation shall stand. To make this happen as desired, a fixed percentage (2%) of the GDP must ANNUALLY be budgeted to support research and technology by Biafran universities and private tech companies, each of which must be made to specialize in one or two specific fields of technology.

For instance, a university can specialize in auto engineering, while another in computer engineering, and another in aviation physics and aerospace technology.

The government funds should be by way of grants mainly, each of which must only be renewed upon showing of WORLD CLASS products.
Biafra will aim to dominate specific corners of each field of technology. For example, Biafra can choose to be the worldwide authority in ship propellers, or naval navigation systems (software for example)

The grants should go to universities and private companies which have demonstrated RESULTS not plans.

So, to recap. Biafra will invest at least 2% of GDP into technological innovations ANNUALLY.

Biafra has demonstrated during the last war that our engineers could build guided anti-ship missiles, and that was at a time when computers have not been very much miniaturized. Building such weapon today should be easier since we also have better trained scientists and engineers.

Biafran scientists shall work both in universities, and tech companies on a rotating basis. cool

One more issue to discuss is Taxation:

A very sound taxation system is the bedrock of a modern economy. I personally prefer that we emphasize more on VAT (or sales tax) than any other taxes. PAYE is still good, but it tends to be evaded by people a lot. But a robust VAT system and a reduced company tax would help to attract some of the world leading companies (after infrastructure has been first taken care of, of course). Instead of hounding people all over the place because of personal income tax ( a lot of our people will still be traders and business persons no matter what), we can have a high rate of VAT. We can use VAT to encourage or discourage consumption of particular goods and services.

Your post and the questions you asked showed one that was heavily laden with limited knowledge but pretended to know. It is sad!

Which tribe in Nigeria is not indigenous people?

You asked for one common element but this has been answered by several responses already and I quote them briefly:

" ...Ibos are entirely surrounded by Nigeria and totally dependent on Nigeria from air, land and sea....

As for who is a parasite and who is a benefactor:

... Nigeria did far better without the Ibos during the war and emerged relatively unscratched while the ibos saw hell on earth without Nigeria, just to stress the point of who is the armed robber and victim!

I wanted to ignore this but I had to quote. Please go and upgrade your education because you have shown your lack of enlightenment on history. Biafra is not an Igbo affair,Igbo is a language in Biafra. Google can help your lazy ass on research and it is far more better than your gutter press and nairaland.

We are not the only indigenous people but are the only ones with guts to exercise the right to self-determination. You can roast in your cowardice and parasitic state. Allow us make our noise on internet without interfering, can you?Monkey!

You are the most unrepentant down-at-heel hedgehog with imprudent mouth I ever came across! Here you are insulting people, including Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, a national hero but you have the effrontery to accuse others of doing the same thing, you bald-headed vulture!

Zik's national heroism places his image on the Nigerian currency and places of national monuments named after him. This is a feat you can never aspire to in your generations of armed robbers and hyena-cannibalism!

There was the Bight of Biafra but never a nation of biafra until ojukwu's lunatic experiment with 3 million disposable ibos! You are not only improperly configured but an unbridled liar too. If you don't know what you have in common with your country men, then seek therapy for your psychological imbalance!

Bla! Bla! Bla!

Has B.oohari renovated his rottening grave? From Pan Africa to One Nigeria, all in vain.

What does his people remember him for?

Occupying 500naira note that is worthless and an airport in Hausa Fulani land. Monkey get off my mention. You ain't worth my attention again.

Mr man
You cannot change facts
If the Arabs are the original owners of that land why is galilee not called Al-jalil
Also is the word Jerusalem arabic
Why is bethlehem not called beth-lyhm (or what ever that is)
What of jericho, judea etc
Did they have arabic names too
If they did who changed them and when was that done
Have you asked yourself why the Isrealites (jew is just a tribe within isreal, tho their opperessor succeeded in using the term "jew" to brandish all of them) where scartered all over europe and the world over before 1940's
What do you think will make an indegenous set of people who should have a home be scatered all over europe and the world
They can only get scartered from somewhere
Now question is
Where did they get scartered from
Have you asked your self
How the arabs(babylonians) who originated from present day saudi arabia (know as babylon in the ancient times) found their way to the present day jerusalem and other places in isreal
How,when and why was the al-aksa mosque established where the temple of solomon is (remember solomon was a king of the isrealites)
Also who established those so called holy sites where those of the christain faith go to see about their pioneer yawhashwa (wrongly called jesus)
Also how did islam that was pioneered by a so called mohammed who originates from present day saudi arabia find its way to jerusalem
As I always say
When you want to get to the bottom of things
You look at real facts on ground (emphasis on real)
Draw your inference
And you get your answer
As for the restoration of biafra (restoration because like I said it existed even before britain), that's a forgone conclussion already cause that's already on the way

Thank you for your endless sermon, with this, I'm convinced that you believe that biafra is not achievable.
I advise you quit this and other similar threads so as to allow us to continue our Wild Goose Chase

That is why we must discourage ALL forms of body abuse: adultery, fornication, debauchery, whoremongering, gluttony, alcoholism, m.a.stur.bation -all things that DEFILE the body, hence destroying the temple of the Most High Chukwu Okike Abiama, our God.
owk gud ideas....... In battling these temple destroyer then the state will have to control porn circulation. Perhaps an out right ban will Do....

Boy, you are in serious need of history and religious lessons, which I will not oblige you because you are not configured to learn. Briefly, in 1400BC the Assyrians inhabited Jerusalem which they called Ursaliimmu.

It later changed hands and was occupied by the Jebusites who called it Jebus. During the times of the ancient Hebrew, they called it Salem. I told you that the biblical names of those places were mistranslated and were not Israelis names or language.

The above is just to enlighten you that what you read in the Bible is not to be taken literally. On the allegorical interpretation of the Bible there are already 4 different ways of understanding the bible. Yet you are making general and unspecific references to the Bible and asking questions.

Only an elementary child answers a question with a question! I now see that you are not worth it because dogmatism is in front of your learning ability. If you want to resurrect dead biafra from internet, you are welcome to spend your aimless dream online. You will know when you wake up!

Mr man
My facts are not based on some nonsensical Roman configured book called bible
My facts are based on real history
Like I asked
Why are those cities/towns not answering their so called original names
If the names where changed
When where the names of those cities/towns changed and by who
Why was the al-aksa mosque built on a site where the already existing temple of solomon was
Arabic as a language originates from present day saudi arabia
Now how did it find it's way to prsent day isreal
Also where were the Isrealites living before they found themselves scarttered all over europe and other parts of the world
These are simple questions you are supposed to be able to answer if your facts are right
As for biafra
Don't bother yourself cause its restoration is already on the way
