The thing with lagos state, is that waste is not properly disposed off, d landlords create a gutter that is higher than d road level; thereby making small ponds at various sections of d road. Lest not forget those food vendors that pour anything called matter onto d road.

In Nigeria the problem isn't just lack of drainage system. It is that people block even the existing drainages with refuse

Lack of proper planning, most areas in Lagos are below the sea level, was in Sokoto about 3years ago despite been in a semi desert region the drainage system are better compare to that of Lagos. The highbrow areas ain't exempted, some part of Ikoyi & Lekki have shitty drainages which result to flooding of the road after heavy downpour.

You have heard, haven't you so what's the lecture about. For the people of Nigeria the thought of draining the highways is simply divine. Only angelic intervention, Solomon's wisdom, Joseph's dream interpretations, Daniel's visions and of course Jonah's aquamatics can solve Lagos's flood problems. Na wah.

Ode this is a norm in lagos, don't think there will ever be a way out and beside it's your bia-fraud people that are the cause with there many shops erected besides the road side. If they end up demolishing all those shops now you people will come here and start blaming the govt and yet you people will not want to stay in your under-developed state yet rushing down to lagos to make it by crook or fraud.

See what I mean. 'He can never see a way out.' If one cannot see, abeg is that not blindness.

See how residents of Awolowo road, Ikeja, Lagos struggled to get to their destinations following a heavy downpour which rained across most parts of Lagos state yesterday.

Both those on foot and cars were affected by the downpour. Is Ambode really working?

Those who blocked all available drains, channels and waterways with bottled water containers, satchet water nylon, canned malt/ coke bottles, gala, Meety, super bite and plantain chips nylon will still blame anybody else but themselves for these floodings. I collected the waste from someone today in order to prevent her imminent throwing out on highway. That is a move I chose to make as my own little contribution to preventing this terrible habit of Nigerians. So compatriots, let us pull the logs in our individual eyes, then we can make things work for govt. Our present attitude will block any drainage system in less than 3 months.

Nonsense govt officials the turn blind eyes when d are building on drainages cos d have collected Egunje and start to complain later.
Re: See How Lagosians Struggle To Get To Their Destinations After Heavy Rainfall by godwin120alex: 10:19pm On Oct 09, 2015
I agree with my pple here throwing refuge on d road and inside d gutter is very wrong and govt need to start dealing with pple dat commit dis crime of blocking d drainages.Go to areas like Idiaraba,Ijesha,Avenue in Ago place etc and see how d dump dirts into d gutters.

i think i may have an idea, A recycling centre ( company) were people can take their bottle, cans, paper, plastic bottles, card boards for recycling and get paid for it, which i will then export to china and others countries, what do you think? Unless there are recycling centres in nigeria.

Thanks for this. Pending d time our govt gets recycling sectors established, that gala nylon and fanta bottle can be kept in a nylon and taken home for your dust bin.
My car will be cleaned in few hours. The trash of drinks can and snacks nylons will be dumped in our dust bin.
I forbid anyone on my car drop trash on the street.
Dropping it in danfos is even better than on the streets.
Govt has its part, people have their part.

exactly! Knowing nigerians they may not abide by the rules? Hence why a token (money) will be offered in exchange. Nigerians don't engage in any thing that does not involve them parting with money grin grin

What has this down pour got to do with Ambode

This occurs virtually everywhere in in the world now.
You should google on South Carolina, USA. See what happened there.
Stop being smart by half, don't compare apples and oranges.
South Carolina had the largest amount of water,in a thousand years, dumped on it in three days, brought on by Hurricane Joaquine.
That caused the Ashley n Cooper rivers to overflow their banks too.
Tell me what river or stream in Ikeja n other areas, far from the shores of the Atlantic, that overflowed its banks?.
And rains we've had so far had not been record rains.

It's not a case of Lagos being an island, it's a case of lack of planning.

What happened in South Carolina is completely different. It's a case of Hurricane Joackim and God forbid something like that in Nigeria because the whole oceanic side of Nigeria will be wiped out.
I served in Sokoto. The traffic in Ile Epo bus stop has nothing to do with flood or heavy down pour. It has always been like that. Even now, the road is very bad. Or you want to say the same for Abule Egba bus stop?[

Definitely you have never been to Ile-epo

That place is pathetic during rainy season

Ask anyone who stays dere

That was not Hurricane.

It was heavy rainfall. The hurricane did not hit ground as at that time
It was not as if the hurricane made any land fall.
