Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala commented on Mr. Buhari assigning the petroleum ministry to himself.

“I think the president has the prerogative to do a lot of things, and this is not the first time in our country. President Obasanjo was also the president of Petroleum Resources in his time. I am not saying this is the best way or best practice but I am just saying for our
circumstances it is not the first time,” she said.

“If that will bring more clarity, more openness, more transparency to the way the oil sector is done no problem, it’s ok.
But if it will not, we have to ask questions.”

Just look at this.

The learned and erudite economist NOI is clearly investing her confidence in PMB'S ability to administer and transform the petroleum ministry on the basis of existing precedents and his personal attributes/political will which fuel the war against corruption, despite acknowledging that it might not be the ideal approach, and against the background of OBJ's mediocre performance when he adopted the same strategy.

If this vote of confidence in PMB from NOI does not clear the ethno-partisan crust distorting the sight of some of his detractors that fail to see the path of recovery he is leading us through, then I wonder what will.

The way and manner these pdp cronies keep pledging their support to Buhari on the ground of corruption makes one wonder if pdp will still be in existence by 2019.well,keep then coming when God is with you even your enemies will find peace with you.

Simply put, she's indicting GEJ's adminstration obviously and she "unwisely" regretted being part of it.

This is a sober reflection. She regrets joining the GEJ Government because she found herself encircled in the web of corruption, having to cover up and make excuses for the corrupt practices of your hero and his powerful cabals. This brought disdain for her eventually from Nigerians and that's her regret! That woman could have lifted this nation with her economic prowess had she served in a government as the present where accountability and prudence is the watch word. Look at Kaichukwu now being a potential icon if he does a great job in Nigeria's oil industry.

Lesson: Never involve yourself with unrepentant criminals like PDP cabals, free yourself from their claws while you still have a chance. The only thing they know is how to cheat and to do this successfully, they deploy the best brains like Okonjo Iweala by buying their conscience with money.

Are you serious Who is this, who submitted this crap? Let me roll through the neighborhood first and check to see if anyone yet reacted to this nonsense. I will be back to comment.

Edwin Clark, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and the list goes on...

These were pillars in the last administration.

The jury is still out on whether President Jonathan meant well for the nation. But one thing is certain: his reign will be remembered for the sharp division this country experienced along ethnic, religious and tribal lines.

Monumental corruption in public office was exalted as an article of faith.

If the comments attributed to Mrs Iweala is true, then it's a sad commentary on the ex President's legacy.

Never again will we have someone unprepared for the office of President and commander in chief.

The chickens are coming home to roost.

With, www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/191420-okonjo-iweala-backs-buhari-on-corruption-war-says-president-leading-by-example.html , I think it is safe to comment.

Frankly, what more is there to say?? This woman who was referred to as the de-facto president/ prime minister in the last admin his come out to "condemn" and "distance" herself from the rot that was Jonathan's admin while eulogising President Buhari's efforts at eradicating this monstrous malaise which was in retrospect worshipped, pampered, condoned and encouraged.

I fail time and time again whenever I try to rationalise some of Jonathan's pronouncements regarding corruption, like his goatandyamtheory, "stealing is not corruption", "corruption is exaggerated", "how much did Jim Nwobodo stole (sic)", and his knack for granting state pardon to the biggest criminals in the land. He even came out at some point to shamelessly admit he's scared of exposing corrupt individuals www.nairaland.com/1444394/president-jonathan-shamelessly-admits-hes .

We are yet to hear the last of these recent revelations from his closest allies whom to me partook either covertly or overtly in ruining this nation especially in the last 5years. First it was Edwin Clerk, then Stella Uduah and now the Big Fish, NOI- the same woman that used her propaganda NOIpoll to churn out fictitious figures and indices regarding the strength of our economy- she never saw anything wrong!! Now she want us to believe "it was a mistake she made taking up the job of Finance Minister under Jonathan".

What a shameless bunch of people.

Whatever it is, whether they throw Jonathan under the bus or under the tires of a Boeing 747 jet, they are not gonna be spared the hammer if found guilty by any competent court.

I am shocked to see that your comment had been on the air for hours, yet Im the first to endorse you.

In fact i had intended to write a mouthful in donation to socialmediaman, whose entry i find offending and insulting in its inferrence tbat NOI does not act on her own will and the ex MD of World Bank is a victim played and used by others for their corrupt ambitions. A pliable person is a misfit in the arena of finance and economy. If its true NOI was a victim of more assertive and selfis crooks then she needs to resign from public service and stay away from partisan politics, she should go and start lecturing in university, thats best for her to tell students her regrets about being an errand minister for money launderers and smugglers.

Omenka, will you kindly take socialmediaman under your wings and tutor him on PR in Nairaland.

Sorry, this is a case of people applying common sense. It has nothing to do with loyalty to anyone, besides, a true patriot should primarily be loyal to country and not to any funny hat wearing individual.

NOI has just subtly hinted her regrets for having to work in one of the most shamelessly corrupt regimes in the world.

Really?? Are you playing the victim card for NOI? She was clearly complicit in the corruption that happened unabated in the previous government, else why did she come out to openly criticize SLS who had the audacity to blow the whistle.

If she had any modicum of dignity left in her (i.e assuming your theory is true), then she should have resigned from the government to show her non approval.

Goodluck Jonathan was not a man who should have been made President. Let us face facts. Even if you hate "Hausa" people, dislike welfarist economic policy, are scared of Muslims etc.c the fact still remains that a better material should have been presented by PDP.
Leaders are born and made. This guy did not show the sacrificing, courageous, self disciplining qualities until shortly before and after the elections. Sadly it was too late.
Yes mr Iknowitall,GEJ is not man ought to be president of Nigeria but need to lead the commonwealth nations which comprises of 33 member nations ok, is because of myopic people like you that Iweala is regretting serving such ingrate people who can't even stand her children. I guess that's why she failed and the song she had to sing all along was "rebasing of our economy" just to show she's clueless just like her boss.

Who celebrates rebasing of economy as an achievement?

Let's have. System that will naturally purge corruption out of Nigeria.
Now that we have gotten a right person.....
let's take a close look on weather Buhari is really fighting corruption or going after those who doesn't support his presidency. For instance, Timipre Sylva was confirmed ole and mercilessly corrupt of which he was answering to the anti graft agency, has the monies he looted returned to the state, was he acquitted no, remember this was somebody we Bayelsans stone as if the muslems were stoning their devil but today he is compensated with apc governorship ticket in the state because Sylva supported him, think of Audu Abubakar with the same credentials of corruption if not more, to the extent of saying if you vote me in, I will return the 11b stole from you,so if he doesn't win what hapen? Is that not madness yet the same Buhari compensated him with apc governorship ticket in kogi now tell me, is any ready to get it right? These are few of such million cases. My earlier comment was an indictment of NOI. I was a critic of hers without taking away some of her achievements! I didn't say she wasn't guilty, I said she was used, she became complicit because morals was absent in GEJ's government. Yes she's probably guilty of corruption, But NO, I don't think she came into government to steal like many others.

A small part of me still pities some of these professionals who got bought into GEJ's web of corruption at the detriment of Nigerians.
Maybe she was used and she became complicit which makes her guilty but also teaches us something which was the lesson I intended to convey. She could've resigned while she still had her name, greed got to her. All I can say is thank God we pushed those criminals out.

Go check the records of all those supporting gej and their mental capacity.... most of them are not very smart, what do you expect from the followers of a clown as a president and the most annoying part is gej was a lecturer and a phd holder, I wonder what he was passing to his students then. That man is a disgrace to Nigeria, a country where you have smart people in all sectors to be lead by gej, that was God punishing us. And we wondered how he married mama patience, beds of same feather flock together.

I sense a woman who regrets being identified with Jonathan. This is a subtle but clear indictment of the inept & corrupt GEJ administration.

While I do appreciate her candor in admitting her failure and speaking glowingly about PMB, I'm curious to know why politicians & public officials suddenly become Patriotic when they lose the patronage & glamour of office - case in point, Edwin Clarke & NOI.

All friends now deserting the Cluless one, even madam gele who was leader of the Musketeers. Failure is an orphan indeed!

As for the obdurate ones still clinging on to the shadow of their "Hero", this is a wakeup call - your role models are deserting you in droves. Even those who swam like Olympic champions in the corruption-ridden government of Jonathan are now towing the path of honour and praising President Buhari’s anti-corruption agenda. Soon you lot will left clutching at nothing - even GEJ will leave you people soon to join the CHANGE train.

1. She affirmed that once the leader takes decisive actions in deference to one sector, the message is felt across others - "body language"

2. She hinted that her returning to the government the second time may have been 'unwisely'. Somehow smirked of innate regrets with how she has been associated with an alleged overtly corrupt government of the time.

My thoughts:

I think it is only those who have decided to remain completely obdurate and adamant with their views that will not give an iota of support for the ongoing efforts of this government to abate corruption.

I strongly believe that in 4 years, the questions our friends of other nationalities will be asking us will change from "how come a feckless hat wearing leader is governing over intelligent Nigerians" to "wow, you guys are so lucky with the President you have. We wish we are as lucky as you"
