In Igbo culture hospitality to strangers is a societal norm ..

And number ceremony used in welcoming someone is by presenting kola..

"Elu ta oji, ala ta oji" means "Up should eat kola and down should eat kola"

meaning it is open to everybody...

"Nno" meaning "welcome" smiley

So Nno!!!

[b]Hello Guys ever since we talked on this thread i have been nursing the possibility of propagating the Igbo History, culture, religion and general ideology to the world.

One of the problems faced by these ancient African civilizations is lack of written records as regard their history.

This dependency on Oral heritage of our antiquities, religion, history and norms has seen it go near extinction at the face of an alien culture..

If any is interested i will like us to be as many as possible, dabble into deep research on the actual History of the Igbo people.

The original Religious view of the Igbo people to correct the missionary mutilation

Norms and general way of life and tradition.

Most importantly our youths need to show interest in our own history, myths and folklores.

Let see with deep research and consistent approximations we can reach to publish this work for public consumption..

Cc. Philfearon, SonOfLucifer, Menesheh, krystalzkris, tsdarkside... what say you..

you made a very strong point here... The Igbo culture and tradition is being branded fetish and devilish, and that's why its slowly dying off

The Kola nut is the symbol of the sacred bonds of friendship, kinship, love and integrity.

When prayers are uttered before the kolanut is broken, truth and integrity are invoked to stimulate one's conscience.

One can observe peculiar twitches in the face of liars and evil doers when the kolanut is broken after the prayers.
Evil people or those with a bad conscience tend to avoid eating kolanut when the kola prayers are uttered.

So, the kolanut prayer is a subtle form of social regulator, serving to affirm and reinforce the moral and philosophical underpinnings of Igbo traditions and culture.

[b]I am so much glad at the turn out here...

@Krystalzkris Nwadam Igbo ji eme onu i know you will be joining our team..

@Philfearon its a very good point you have made and with the type of enthusiasm i see here we can pull through, we won't know if we don't try..

@sonmvayina thanks ... lol.. we could need all the help we can get..

@SonOfLucifer you are the chairman na. . . Odogwu Igbo ka ibu..

@plaetton happy you are in. . . Seriously didn't know you are IGBO...Are you?

We would need a platform where we could meet up. . Whatsapp/BBm to exchange and look into each others research.

Find possible means of execution and determine credible similarities between our research to reach a sound approximation.

And with our research and work gaining full ground and our enthusiasm and zeal in this herculean task. . we could then reach a stage we would share chapters to each member who can work on them to do so using our determined research sources and deductions..

These could take even months or year... depends on our zeal and perseverance in this. .

the book could be a reality some day..
