[quote author=Mekurexx post=39221485]Guys, quick question about WES for those that have used them.
: I plan on using WES Basic(Course-by-Course (with GPA & course-levels) is it OK and accepted by US schools? And hope overall GPA conversion be done? Also the schools I am applying to... ]

The Course-by- Course is the most adequate one as that's what most of the schools I've encountered ask for. Yes, overall GPA conversion will be done.
However, you will pay extra to have your evaluated transcript sent to schools. $30 while the evaluation is still ongoing and $50 for the 1st one after the evaluation has been concluded. You will also pay mailing fees depending on your preference...least is $7 sha.

I requested to have my scores sent to 3 schools and paid $323 in total. undecided sad

You do stand a strong chance of being made a lecturer on completion of your PhD. For many universities, a PhD is the minimum requirement to have to be considered a lectureship position. So yes, you do stand the chance.

Thanks. This is a morale booster. Someone told me it's not possible in the states. Make I begin jack GRE and prepare journal articles.

Hello house.

Just had my interview for an F1 visa at the us embassy Abuja. Met the black lady and she gave me tough time. After bombarding my life with questions, one of which I couldn't answer I just shrugged to.. She asked for my sponsor and I said my dad.. She asked for account statements which were good, I passed them to her, she mellowed down at this point.. And she began to type for a long time. I could swear on my life I was going to be denied but then she handed me the yellow script and told me to come back with my dads most recent bank statement.

What are my chances d next time i go? She didn't give me back my Ds 160. Do I need to print another one? Will I meet her again next time? Cos that lady has serious wahala.

Reply? Anyone? Pls

Asides the DS160 she held on to, what other documents of yours did she hold on to?

Oh yea, you would need those. Be sure to prepare for the GRE using Grubers and/or Barrons. The books are highly recommended for the GRE.

Gruber is not really good for GRE prep like before.
Barron is still okay for strategies.
Hope you had a blissful birthday, sir?

For the processes involved from getting admission to scheduling your visa interview, 1.5 million naira is way too much. An estimate of N200,000 to N300,000 or lower should be enough for you. DO NOT use visa agents of any sort. YOU CAN do everything yourself starting from getting your admission to getting your visa. The visa agents do not have any special effects on the visa process or do anything that you cannot do. All that you would need are littered all over this student visa thread if only you can take the time to read the threads from the earliest that you can (this is part 8.).

Has any change been made to the Grubers of recent?

I didn't really get the chance to celebrate my birthday. I was very busy all day. cry

The GRE has left Gruber far behind.
I believe the book should be a quick reference only since
most of the contents do not reflect the change in the test.
I wasted almost two weeks on the material.

Eeyah... grin grin There will many more birthdays. Make it up to yourself
during the Christmas and New Year Holidays

did she interview you before asking for those documents? Just try to get the updated documents. Why are you scared of being interviewed again? You stand a chance.

Hmm, good to know. I used Grubers in 2013 when I was preparing for my GRE and it was really good. I combined it with Barrons.

Oh yea, there are many more birthdays ahead. grin

I believe if you go with the updated Bank Statement with reasonable money and it genuine. u dont have any problem and most likely u will be having a brief interview again.

Before dropping my transcript... I want to thank Walspring for helping me pay my sevis. I say big thankyou to Slimmy,Profojah and Walspring for having time to read and comment on my composed transcript......u guys ar experts cos the 3 of u said the same thing and made the same corrections.....i was suprised.....be lik say una get degree for this field..lol. Thanks guys. God bless u and evryone that are helping pple out on this forum.

Lemme state my profile to encourage som pple dat myt be thinking they cnt get their visa approved wit similar profile.Luke 1:37.....But with God nothing shall be impossible.

I am single.

I havent traveleled @all i.e my passport is virgin and wil expire nxt yr decembr

I graduated 2009

My sponsor (uncle) resides in the US and in the same state (Florida) as my sch (uni of south florida)...our names no bear any resemblance @all.

I got to the abuja embassy around 7:30.....see men in siuts...choi....i was the most casual cos i had no tie or suit on me.
I was called in around 8:30 and the slow movement insyd the hall began........see crowd o......the place con be lik banking hall.....i neva tot the interview is a stand-up thing o....as i enter, the funny thing i first saw ws the white lady in window 7 dat told a guy to go back and try his luck with somone else cos she has rejected him twice...lo and behold...the guy ws rejected again by the lady in window 9.

A guy said he is 35yrs old.....stated working at the age of 23 and has worked for 6yrs...the woman jst dey smile...even we wey dey queue laugh am.

One was asked of his wife's name....the guy con dey think am.....vo had to ask him why it took him so long.

I am saying this so dat those that havent gone yet wil do their homework verywell....the questions are jst some normal things u ought to knw...i dunno why naija peeps dey fall person hand like dat.
One claim to be earning 750k per month in an oil company.....u need to see the bony face this guy brought to the embassy....if you must lie......tell a lie dat is within the range of commonsense.

I too dey talk.

The VO at window 9 called next.....and up i went.

VO: hi
me: walahi i no respond....i no even knw wetin hook my mouth

VO: plz pass ur documents
me: passed my passport and the ds160 dat has been folded by their staff in it.

VO: can i have ur sevis?
Me: u knw nah

VO: you ar going to florida to study what?
Me: master's degree in biotechnology

VO: what do you do for a living?
Me: i work as production chemist in a pharmaceutical company

VO: so how much do you earn
me: N40,500
(i knew in her mind she don dey reason how i go pay the tuition....sharperly.....i don add this)
my uncle will be responsible for the tuition and other expenses.

VO: oh, what does he do for a living?
Me: he is a succesful engineer...he is into real estate...he buys, sells, develop and manage properties.

VO: ok....can i see his statement of account?
Me: passed it......com see typing o.....for lik 30secs....i stood there waiting for her nxt question.

VO: did u write the GRE
me: yes

VO: pass it
me: i did

she read through it and noticed i applied to central michigan university and the catholic uni of america.........gre wsnt forwarded officially to USF so it didnt appear on the score report ( i wrote my login details on the page as advised here)

VO: why didnt u send ur report to USF
me: they accept scanned copy for admission decision to be made

VO: ok.....why did u choose USF over central michigan and catholic uni
me: they offer pharmaceutical biotechnology and there is an ongoing research in the department about the exploration of soil bacterial for the synthesis of new antibiotics which i really want to be part of.

She jst start to dey pack my load o....i no even hear how she announce the news.......buh she continued sayin i cant enter the united states unless it 30days to my sch's resumption and dat i shud kip my i20 cos i will nid it at the POE and then she gave me the white sheet wit pick up details.

It can only be God.
