Aareonakakanfo: Thanks a lot for this. These pictures do not do justice to those waterfalls. They are truly majestic. At the bottom of those waterfalls are lots of smooth stones with a metallic sheen that glisten in the sun. Someone guessed that the shiny particles in the stone might be copper particles or traces of tin.  Am yet to check this out, however. |

Well done guys. This is a really good medium/project, and if properly managed, help aid the process of reversing the systemic damage done to the Yoruba race in Nigeria. I'm still on page 40. Will get up to speed in some days ( if the thread doesn't run faster than me). Ilekehd, shymex, aare, 9jacrip, and even the sometimes irriating contributions of guys like anonimi ( he's politically biased but he makes sense occasionally); thanks for pouring yourself out for this... Professor Aderemi Kuku  Professor Aderemi Kuku started his University teaching and research career in 1965 at the then University of Ife as an Assistant Lecturer in Mathematics and was promoted Lecturer in 1967. He moved to the University of Ibadan as a Lecturer in 1968 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Ibadan in 1982. Professor Aderemi Kuku was Head Mathematics Department, University of Ibadan (1983-86) Dean, Post-Graduate School, University of Ibadan, (1986-90), and Foundation Chairman, Committee of Deans of Postgraduate Schools in Nigerian Universities (1986-90). He was Professor of Mathematics at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics, (ICTP), Trieste, Italy (a United Nations Research Centre in mathematics and Physics) 1995-2003. Professor Aderemi Kuku has been the William W.S. Clayton Endowed Professor of Mathematics at the Grambling State University, Grambling, Louisiana, USA. He was president of the African Mathematical Union for nine years 1986-1995. He is also the President of the African Academy of Sciences. Professor Kuku has rendered numerous academic and scientific services to Nigeria. Africa and the world. He has several visiting positions outside Nigeria some of which include: 1. George Olatokunbo Okikiolu  Dr. George O. Okikiolu is the father of Katherine Okikiolu. The two of them are one of the few successful father-daughter researchers combinations in mathematics. He has published more papers, over two hundred, than any other Black Mathematician. His first paper appeared in 1967, and his Ph.D. was in 1972. In the late 1970s, Dr. George Okikiolu formed a company, Okikiolu Scientific and Industrial Organization, London which published his first book and publishes a journal, Bulletin of Mathematics. Professor Abiodun Alao Kings College London  Abiodun Alao is Professor of African Studies at King’s College London. He teaches on the ALC M.Sc. programmes and supervises Masters/PhD students. He is also the Chair of the Centre’s Examination Board. Abiodun holds a Bachelor’s in History and Masters in International Relations from the Universities of Ibadan and Ife respectively. He holds a Doctorate in War Studies from King’s College London where he was a Ford Foundation Doctoral Scholar and also held the SSRC-MacArthur Post-Doctoral Fellowship. Apart from extensive publications on African security issues, he has undertaken numerous assignments for international organisations, including the United Nations, African Union, European Union, World Bank, ECOWAS and for individual countries. In 2000, he was part of the team that undertook a comprehensive Threat Assessment for Rwanda after the genocide and between 2001 and 2002 he was among the Team of Academic Experts that advised the Office of the UN Secretary General on the Civil War in Sierra Leone. He co-authored the Concept Note for the Common Defence and Security Policy for the Africa Union in 2003 and also co-authored the first post-Civil War National Security Strategy Framework for Liberia. He was also a member of the King’s College London team that worked on the “Development of Donor Countries Effectiveness in Fragile States”. William Atiomo University of Nottingham William Atiomo qualified at the University of Ibadan Nigeria in 1987. After a brief stint in Nigeria working in obstetrics and gynaecology, he travelled to the UK for his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology during which he gained wide and deep experience in clinical and academic obstetrics and gynaecology. In addition to successfully gaining the postgraduate qualifications in clinical obstetrics and gynaecology (MRCOG) he took time out pursue a doctoral degree in gynaecology and was awarded with a doctorate degree in medicine (MD) by the University of Plymouth for his work into the polycystic ovary syndrome (a common cause of female infertility). His initial specialist gynaecological training took place in University Hospitals in the Southwest Region of England (Exeter, Bristol and Plymouth). Following a decision to go into academic medicine, he worked as a clinical lecturer in obstetrics and gynaecology at the Royal Free and University College London Medical School from where he was appointed to his current post. William Atiomo was awarded the fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in recognition of his contribution to the specialty in 2007. William also holds a Masters degree in Higher and professional education from the Institute of Education, University of London and is a fellow of the UK higher education academy. William has had several research publications in gynaecology and was a member of the UK Medical Research Council (MRC) College of Experts affiliated to the health sciences and public health research board and is currently a member of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RCOG) Reproductive Medicine Clinical Study Group and the College of Experts Affiliated to the UK National Institute of Health Research Health Technology Assessment board. Michael Odetayo Coventry University  Biography Dr Michael Odetayo is a Principal Lecturer in Computer Science. He obtained his MSc from Imperial College, London, UK and his PhD Degree in Computer Science at the University of Strathclyde. Oyemade  Olusola Oyemade, M.D. graduated from Edinburgh University,Edinburgh, Scotland in 1967.He did his residency in Pediatrics at Buffalo Children's Hospital ,Buffalo, New York and fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. as well as a Pediatric Research Fellowship at Children's Hospital, Los Angeles. He also obtained a Master's Degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland in 1971. He was Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University and Meharry Medical School from 1971-'72 and was appointed Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Director of Ambulatory Pediatrics at Howard University School of Medicine, a position he held from 1972-'76. From 1977-'83, he was Senior Lecturer/Consultant in Pediatrics at the University College Hospital,Ibadan, Nigeria,but returned to the U.S. where he has been in private practice of Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology in the city of Rancho Cucamonga, California. During this period he also served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Loma Linda University for some years. He has continued to teach medical students and residents as well as presented some scientific papers .He has been closely involved in the drug development at IMI, where he serves as one of the Directors. Sola Adeyemi University of Greenwich  Sola Adeyemi started with the University of Greenwich in June 2013. Before then, he was at the department of English and Drama, Loughborough University, where he taught Introduction to Performance Studies, World Theatre and Performance and Research Methods. His researches are in World theatre and performance studies, particularly the works of Femi Osofisan; diasporic African and black British theatre, especially the works of Kwame Kwei-Armah, Oladipo Agboluaje and Ade Solanke as they explore the politics of identity on the various 'streams' of British stage; and the performance of creative writing – short stories and poetry. He is currently working on a book, 'Osofisan's Vision of Change in his Dialectical Reading of History and Political Discourse'. Yinka Shonibare MBE  Yinka Shonibare MBE RA was born in London and moved to Lagos, Nigeria at the age of three. He returned to London to study Fine Art first at Byam Shaw College of Art (now Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design) and then at Goldsmiths College, where he received his MFA, graduating as part of the ‘Young British Artists’ generation. He currently lives and works in the East End of London. Over the past decade, Shonibare has become well known for his exploration of colonialism and post-colonialism within the contemporary context of globalisation. Shonibare’s work explores these issues, alongside those of race and class, through the media of painting, sculpture, photography and, more recently, film and performance. Using this wide range of media, Shonibare examines in particular the construction of identity and tangled interrelationship between Africa and Europe and their respective economic and political histories. Mixing Western art history and literature, he asks what constitutes our collective contemporary identity today. Having described himself as a ‘post-colonial’ hybrid, Shonibare questions the meaning of cultural and national definitions. Shonibare was a Turner prize nominee in 2004 and awarded the decoration of Member of the “Most Excellent Order of the British Empire”. He has added this title to his professional name. In 2013 he was elected Royal Academician by the Royal Academy of Arts. He was notably commissioned by Okwui Enwezor At Documenta 10 in 2002 to create his most recognised work ‘Gallantry and Criminal Conversation’ that launched him on an international stage. He has exhibited at the Venice Biennial and internationally at leading museums worldwide. In September 2008, his major mid-career survey commenced at the MCA Sydney and toured to the Brooklyn Museum, New York in June 2009 and the Museum of African Art at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC in October 2009 . In 2010, 'Nelson's Ship in a Bottle' became his first public art commission on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square. |

Adebisi Adewole UWS  Dr Bisi Adewole is a Lecturer in Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management at the University of the West of Scotland, He obtained a degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the area of Business Relationships and Supply Chain Management from University of the Arts London, a Master of Business Administration degree from University of North London (now London Metropolitan University) and a Master of Arts degree in Diplomatic Studies from University of Westminster. Iwa Salami University of East London  Dr Iwa Salami is a senior lecturer in commercial law and financial law and regulation at the School of Law and Social Sciences. She has also lectured at Queen Mary, University of London. Prior to joining UEL she was a research fellow at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary, University of London. She has previously worked in the UK and abroad including the Government Legal Service and the African Development Bank. Iwa has published widely in the field of financial law and economic integration in emerging economies. She is currently working on a research project assessing the legal implications for monetary unions across Africa. Iwa holds a degree in Law from University of Westminster, an LLM in International Business Law (Merit) from King's College, University of London and a PhD from Queen Mary, University of London.
