I see your point. I guess that's why it's grossly unfair to compare Tinubu to Awo coz Awo had administrative jurisdiction over the entire Western Region while he was Premiere, while Tinubu never has never really had that much reach. Yes he has considerable influence over the politics of the SW but pragmatically there's only so much he can do outside Lagos under the current system. Even Awo himself lost relative influence over the region after the demise of regionalism despite his political eminence -- it was not uncommon for some of his lieutenants/proteges during his time (e.g. former Gov. of Oyo, the late Bola Ige) to overrule his suggestion at times.

Ogun lawmaker calls for rehabilitation of Sagamu- Ogijo- Mosimi- Ikorodu Road




WORRIED by the spate of road crashes, armed robbery attacks and terrible traffic along the Sagamu- Ogijo- Mosimi- Ikorodu Road, a second major link road between Lagos and other parts of the country, the lawmaker representing Ikenne, Sagamu and Remo North, Remo Federal Constituency, Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu has called for the urgent rehabilitation of the road.
While describing the road as a strategic petroleum distribution network route in the country, the Ogun lawmaker, during the Plenary Session at the House on Tuesday, said “the road hosts several strategic installations and industrial plants such as the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company Limited (PPMC).”

According to him: “The deplorable condition of the Sagamu- Mosimi section of the road continuously poses great danger to lives and property in the surrounding communities, causing high rate of fatal crashes, creating gridlock and quite unfortunately, providing ample opportunities for armed robbery attacks on commuters and residents.”

He added that the strategic nature of this petroleum distribution network route necessitated heavy vehicular traffic, mainly petrol tankers and other haulage vehicles servicing the industries in the axis, hence the need for urgent intervention by the Federal Government.

He stressed that due to the bad state of the road and inflammable nature of the products being regularly conveyed, it had become imperative for the Federal Government to give prompt attention to it.

Adebutu, who revealed that he had received several petitions from the local communities, which decried the state of the road, said that apart from raising the Motion on Infrastructure in the House, he would also be working assiduously with the House Committee on Works to ensure that the reconstruction of the road was on the priority list of the 2016 Budget proposals of the Federal Ministry of Works.

He reassured members of the public, particularly the residents of Ogijo and Sagamu, that the matter of the Sagamu – Ogijo- Mosimi – Ikorodu Road was on the front-burner for prompt legislative action.

I read in news yesterday of a man found on our land in posession of a human head. He was arrested and put in jail. In his court appearance the judge granted him bail.

A murderer should never ever ever EVER...be allowed back into society unless he is absolved of the crime during trial.

This is not the first one to be bailed.

The State Executives, Legislators and Judges need to address the issue of ritual killing as a very serious problem and throw the books at these criminals.

Poor transport infrastructure is such a major problem. It is unbelievable that in Lagos, people can spend 3-4 hours in traffic on each leg of their journey to work, every single day!! Mind boggling! In some areas, if you do not leave home at 4a.m, you can't get to your office on the Island at 7:30a.m.

Tinubu is no socialist but he is no self-serving uber capitalist either. He is somewhat in the middle i.e socio-capitalist. From the way he talks and reasons, Tinubu's belief is that government should directly oversee and empower the projects, policies and plans that will enable Nigerians to do the rest themselves to secure their own socio-economic development. In other words, Tinubu is of the 'teach a man to fish' school of thought.

The problem is that Tinubu has a lot of enemies and many of them naturally revel in deceiving Nigerians by deliberately and deceptively dealing in half-truths and even outright lies. they will tell you about Eko Atlantic and his many private ventures but they will not tell you of his efforts, in his home state of Lagos, to deliver independent power supply while he was Governor. The will downplay BRT , like the British bus lane, which is the first effort of its kind in Nigeria to transport ordinary Nigerians faster and in relative comfort. You will not see him get credit for his dogged dedication to the notion that road infrastructure increases economic activities. This is the backbone policy that saw Lagos construct more square-km of roads than some African countries managed in the same period. Are you aware of Tinubu's effort to secure rail transport for use by all Lagosians and not the elite alone? this was at a others were still buying bicycles for the citizens of their States.

I initially wanted to write about the terrible condition of this particular road. The Ikorodu-Ogijo-Sagamu road is one of the worst road in the whole of west africa(i am not exaggerating). Regrettably, Ogijo is a host to so many steel industries/factories with little commensurate infrastructural development in the area itself. Not too far from Ogijo is another place known as Simawa. Simawa has a lot of housing estate springing up left, right and center but unfortunately there is a dearth of basic ammenities in this place too.

The Sango-Ijoko-Alagbole-Akute-Berger road in Ogun/Lagos state has also been abandoned after construction works started on it about three years ago. That road is also very very very terrible. I wont forget areas like Ibafo, Magboro, Asese ...................... JESUS !!! People living in those places are really suffering. Some communities there havent had electricity supply for the past TEN YEARS.

I would have wanted you to show us what this road looks like but then again make we no spoil the thread with dirty picture .Do you reside in Ogun state?
