It is an indisputable fact that the just concluded ministerial screening, particularly the screening of Gov. Rotimi Ameachi has put the job/position of the Senate President on the line. Prior to the ministerial screening, almost all PDP Senators were solidly behind the Senate President, which made his planned removal by some powerful APC Chieftains through the CCT difficult.

However, it seems all is not well with the Senate President. Having confirmed Amaechi, which PDP Senators see as a betrayal on the part of Saraki, the Senate President will henceforth be left to his fate. It is so glaring that Saraki has fallen for the trap set by some APC bigwigs.

It will be recalled that barely 24hrs after the final screening of Ministerial nominees, the Apeal Court ruled that the CCT has the right to try Saraki. It is obvious that the case was earlier adjourned just to buy time, pending when the ministerial screening is concluded. Now, the screening is over and the pit of hell has been opened for Saraki.

It is therefore glaring that Saraki miscalculated politically. Infact he (Saraki) goofed big time. If Saraki had not disappointed the PDP Senators, there is no way his impeachment would scale through in the Senate, since APC doesn't have the number. But Saraki did not know that he was dining with the devils. Tinubu and co have no forgiving spirit and they will fight Saraki to finish. Now, Saraki is neither here nor there, having disappointed the PDP the second time, it is time to let him carry his cross.

Finally, I thought Saraki was smart till he committed this unpardonable blunder. According to Robert Green in 48 Laws of Power (Law 15) " Crush your enemies totally, both in body and soul" - When you pity or hope for reconciliation, it will make you hesitate. Therefore, Saraki shouldn't have fought half way. Let him face the music. He goofed big time!

My thought exactly but I know that PDP will back him one more time to get his total support, hoping he has learnt his lessons. He should even decamp to PDP.

Please don't hold your breath on that. Go and find out the circumstances that led to Saraki leaving PDP the first time.

nonsense but factual analysis

Saraki had no choice. It's not about him being impeached by the APC majority and defended by the PDP minority.it is about him knowing the cards were/are against him.The CCT will eventually fry him and he knows that hence the reason why he has been trying to stall the court proceeding. Apart from all these,he had no choice than to confirm Amaechi because even if he choses to dance to the tune of PDP,the President has a veto power on ministerial nominees and Amaechi will still be a minister of the Federal Republic whether Saraki likes it or not.
The fact that Saraki confirmed Amaechi is not a case of being a tactless politician,it's actually a case of knowing your game is up and trying to placate your enemy's wrath.

Do you realize that he really had no power to stop Amaechi's confirmation? The powers of a Senate President are limited. Even if the pdp senators decided to vote instead of walking out, Amaechi would still have been confirmed because if he ruled that the nays have it the APC Senators will simply call for division and a physical or electronic voting would have taken place. That's why I said nonsense analysis. You people will just sit somewhere and write gibberish.

It will be best people learn well before writing nonsense.

Okay, you want me to enlighten you more. Alright, Saraki cannot decline to grant a call for division. A point of order will be shouted and he must take it. That's why there's chief whip in the senate.

I am happy you didn't argue needlessly about the our earlier assertion as per 2/3.
