IyaIode: There is the Blue Line from Okokomaiko to Marina; the Red Line from Agbado to Marina via Iddo and Muritala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA); the Green Line from Marina to Lekki (Airport) ; the Yellow Line from Otta to Iddo and the Purple Line from Redeem to Ojo. There are also the Orange Line from Redeem to Marina and the Brown Line from Mile 12 to Marina. I cannot remember seeing any rail project in any part of Lagos apart from the Iganmu - Mile axis. Let those living around there confirm, please. |

Re: Yoruba Commonwealth and Politics by DeLaRue: 7:14pm On Nov 06, 2015 |
My first contribution to this thread..and I agree with those who have observed that the contributor 'FireFire' appears more interested in seeeing things from a party political (PDP) perspective rather than putting 'Yoruba' first. Now he has even extended the thing to Tinubu and Funsho Williams when there's absolutely no connection with the topic in hand. As soon as more of his like on both PDP and APC sides decend on this thread, it's going to be downhill from here on. |
Re: Yoruba Commonwealth and Politics by Firefire(m): 7:15pm On Nov 06, 2015 |
DeLaRue: You need to study the trend of discussion before jumping into unnecessary conclusion. When you say party perspective, who are the party representing, are they not representing the masses ? And moreover, we are not even mentioning any party here. So be guided accordingly. |

Aareonakakanfo: The 2 rail lines are the project of Lagos State Govt. The road lanes are being done by Ecowas. It is meant to be a regional super highway for west Africa. I have not been able to understand where Lagos road construction stops and where that of Ecowas starts. |

Incidentally, one of my clients is involved in efforts to inject new life into one of the lines being discussed, and I was involved in high level communication with a particular foreign investor weeks ago. Let me put it this way: Those expecting Ambode to be firing on all cylinders and in all directions concerning the various lines proposed/initiated by Fashola just don't understand. First, Lagos State simply does not have the funds to finance all these major projects (road and rail) started by Fashola. Second, Lagos State is pretty loaded on debt already, so additional substantial debt financing is not seen as atractive at this point. Thirdly, I may be wrong, but it does seem that Fashola embarked on too many of these big ticket projects at the same time. Fourthly, it is ineveitable that one or the other of these projects will end up in PPP with the private sector stepping in. Finally, with the exception of a couple or so rail lines, many of the other lines proposed by Fashola (yellow, greenline or what else), will not happen. That's the reality. |

Abeg the politicians should spare us the politics here pls. There are enough threads for that. Here Tinubu and Fayose are the same because they both belong to this elegant tribe of Yoruba. Firefire: You are a card carrying member of a political party. Therefore, whatever you post here will be viewed from party angle. In my own opinion, that project should have been completed by now. The projects completed so far do not correspond with the IGR generated yearly, monthly allocation from FG and debt accrued. FACT. Anyway, let me quit discussing Lagos. I'm not a Lagosian and I have never lived there. Wish Lagosians best of luck. We can't afford to derail this thread, there's no way we will discuss some issues without mentioning names. So, we minimize the discussion for the purpose of this thread. God Bless Yorubaland. Development of Yorubaland is non-negotiable. It is well. 1 Like 1 Share |

DeLaRue: All the light rail projects was proposed to run on PPP... AS Nigeria’s business headquarters, the Southwest is expected to lead other regions in the quest to develop Nigeria through massive investment in infrastructure He pointed out that the rail project was being implemented under a public and private partnership. The state is building the infrastructure while the private sector will provide the rolling stock and management. Dr Mobereola also pointed out that the Lagos rail will generate employment and create more housing. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/08/lagos-building-new-nigeria-rail-projects-lamata-boss/ 1 Like |

This is the reason why i hate the pdp (sorry for going political) and those fla.theads, we shouldn't how those fools kill our progress. IlekeHD: Im eating, reading, typing, got music in my ears, heading to meeting in a few mins, need to send email, need to call my love and blow kiss...again, i need water, i should skip respond to this rail thingy but i cant cause when i saw it i was in a train snaking through subterranean tunnels....so i rearranged to do list and put on my thinking hat.... Im not a social critic but I would recommend that as a first rule we create a meaningful rating system for producing performance stats and scoring for administrators...that way we cn rate on big projects like this. Venting on a waste of public resource do us no good The rail system is proposed as a solution to ease Lagos traffic. Why is Lagos traffic this bad? Due to population explosion. Why are there so many people in Lagos? Due to its relative modernity and urban profile. So will the addition of this rail system increase that profile and appeal? Yes. What can be expected? No one in Lagos will leave but more people will troop in to experience the new glamor and make the population problem worse. Will this situation ease Lagos traffic? No, it will worsen it. Sustainability. Our mindset, habits and reactions to infrastructure and environment has not improved and we still respond to our environment in a stand-offish manner as consumers instead of owners. So we must be sincere with ourselves. After the whites passed administration of Nigerian Railway Corporation to us we ran it to the ground. Same with Apapa ports. Same with airline. We can't maintain roads, can't maintain buildings, we do not maintain drainage and sewer, when whites ran this country our water pipes flowed...not any more, we can't even generate and distribute electiricity successfully and consistently. So what public infrastructure do we maintain in our society? None! Now we are adding another burden to the public treasury. Are we matured to handle the responsibility that comes with owning, operating and sustaining a rail transport system? 2 Likes |

IyaIode: I can take you on another expository thread on your thoughts about the Leki/Epe toll / PPP and the corresponding cost attributed to the project. No matter what, we can only move our region forward when we are set to ask instructive questions on accountability / stewardship reports from our Yoruba leaders. Irorun igi, o ni irorun eiye. Firefire: My understanding is that little or no work has been done on the Red Line. So, all aspects of this project (infrastructure, rolling stock, and management) should be farmed out on PPP basis. Let the private sector handle it, as it does not look like the State can afford to put the cost of this project on its balance sheet right now. |
