My Experience In Sotheast- My Project Tour To Southeast. by OBAFEMIawolowo: 8:54pm On Nov 06, 2015
I was opprotuned to visit all southeast states on a project work sponsored by an international organization in the U.S. I had to visit several big hospitals in the region like UNTH, NAUTH, FMC owerri, ABSUTH, FMC abakaliki. The work has to do with the prevalence of PUD in southeast and it lasted for 10weeks. This is my first time of going to southeast and I was eager to know what ile Igbo looks like.

On getting to Niger bridge from Asaba airport, I met a 10lanes road in Onitsha which serve as gateway to southeast, the road was well marked and wide ( I was like "welcome to southeast"wink, then i was immediately taken to my hotel at fegge area of Onitsha (top rank hotel).

Onitsha
Onitsha is quite a formidable commercial city, but I can't live in onitsha. The city is tick, dusty and congested, most of their roads are dusty with no walkways. Onitsha has heavy buildings but tiny roads, aside the expressway, I don't think any other thing fascinated me about onitsha. I remember visiting on Chinese restaurant at awka road though. I can remember also visiting oguta road, modebe, zik road, port Harcourt road eetc onitsha needs a total overhaul but i won't deny seeing heavy buildings. I spent two weeks in onitsah then we moved to owerri.

Owerri
I lodged at rapour hotel along orlu road in owerri. Owerri is a very lively city but lot of abandoned projects scatter all over the city. I remember seeing two abandoned flyover projects and it doesn't seem it was abandoned recently. Nice houses, night live is also encouraging. I remember spending time with fine owerri girls, they have beautiful girls. I was disappointed in okoroacha, owerri roads are not well marked, most street lights are not working. But owerri is quite more inhabitable than onitsha. Spent two weeks in owerri then moved to aba.

Aba
Didn't really spent much time moving around here, roads are quite bad here but I saw some construction work going on. i remember our car falling into a big pothole ( I had to role my shirt to push it ooo). The city is also very noisy. I moved to Enugu after one week.

Enugu
I lodges ate fildema hotel at independence layout. Bros, make I no lie, this city get government presence ooo. Didn't really see heavy building like in owerri, aba and onitsha but the city is organized with well planned road networks, street lights and well marked roads. Didn't enjoy enugu well because water is a problem, I also noticed their soil is a strange stony red soil. Enugu is quite better than others. I spent two weeks here then moved to abakaliki.

Abakaliki
I even forget the hotel wet I lodge sef, but it was along Enugu road or so. Abakaliki is quite the least of all ot these cities but i remember still seeig wider roads than i saw in aba and onitsha. Abakaliki is quite laidbacked with similar soil like that of Enugu.

I moved to back to enugu to spend extra one week, visited several clubs and lounges in enugu. Fine residential buildings, I remember eating opa with coke along oguiyi road. Stella odua messed up in that Enugu airport ooo, chairs for there don dey soil finish, but well sha, i will love to visit Enugu and owerri again.

I enjoyed southeast ooo, please lets stop the tribal rivalry here and tolerate each other, I even caught some sweet igbo chicks in owerri and Enugu mmeaning, I will still have to go back there. As for me, Nigeria is the same, I felt at home in these places.

I don't mind settling down with omo ibo sha wink

I prefer a united Nigeria with equity, instead of what is obtainable today. Nigeria is blessed. Same way I fell in love with Sokoto northern Nigeria.

During my visit to the south east, I couldn't wait to get out of Onitsha. I didn't come that far to experience another Idumota......... and I didn't want to leave Owerri.... very calm place.

Your analysis is spot-on. I also like how Owerri girls are polite and they love outsiders. When they like you, they greet you politely....... unlike the ones wet dem eye don tear finish for Lagos.

I went with some Igbo guys that try to switch the conversation to Igbo language when they see I'm getting the attention of the females...... they did it so often that I had to shout at them to speak in English. grin

I only moved along that ogoja road, didn't really flexed abakaliki the way I flex Enugu and owerri. I can remember seeing one ongoing construction of a skycrapper along that road (at round-about) before getting to FMC. No vex if I no see the other government projects.

Nobody is stopping you from relieving yourself.
The SE is very very urban even for southern Nigeria, so there are always many pleasurable modern attractions.
But don't come here to start giving us Bullshitt reasons for nationhood just because you met one or two ladies that tickled your fancy or because you liked the food.
I could go to benin republic tommorrow and have a good time, it doesn't make me part of their nation.
