The APC and its candidate, Alhassan, had gone before the tribunal to challenge the victory of Ishaku of the PDP at the polls. The petitioners prayed the tribunal to void the governorship poll for corrupt practices and substantial non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010, as amended. They also urged the tribunal to disqualify the 1st respondent, Ishaku, and hold that all votes credited to him during the election were “wasted and thrown away votes”. The petitioners through their lead counsel, Mr. Abiodun Owonikoko, SAN, told the tribunal: “Contrary to the provisions of Section 85 of the Electoral Act, which requires the service of at least 21 days to INEC before the holding of congress for the conduct of primary election, the 2nd respondent (PDP) only delivered their notice to INEC on December 11, 2014, at exactly 6:04pm and held the purported primaries on the same day. This was apparently after they have conducted the said primary. “That in defiance of the requirement of Section 87 of the Electoral Act, the 2nd respondent held the purported primary at Abuja as against Jalingo, Taraba State capital. “That relying on their earlier notice to INEC for the holding of the primary at the Taraba State capital, INEC (3rd respondent) sent their monitoring team to observe the primary election on December 8, 2014, but the congress did not hold without any explanation from the party. “That in flagrant disregard to the demand of the Electoral Act 2010, the 1st and 2nd respondents held their primary in Abuja without approval from INEC. “That by reason of paragraphs i, ii, iii, and iv above, the 1st respondent was not duly sponsored by his political party as required under section 177(c) of the 1999 constitution nor duly sponsored, the 1st respondent is/was not qualified to have contested the gubernatorial election that held in Taraba State on April 11 and 25, 2015”. If for no other reason, the CHANGE in government will ensure PDP practices internal democracy by fire by force... They have no other option now.. Amaechi vs omehia/PDP taught them nothing, now they are going to learn the hardest of ways possible!!!. 4 Likes |

modath: Exactly. No internal democracy in PDP, they even extended it to the whole country. But after this, after the dust is settle. By next year this time, when PDP is left with say 5 or 6 state with Rivers and Akwa-ibom not included, they will be force to look inward. 4 Likes 1 Share |

modath:I don't see the pdp surviving till 2019.The slush funds just won't be there.Even if Wike and Udom in Akwa Ibom survive, with Akowa in Delta, the govs will be too overburdened with the demands of state and other issues to be able to offer strong financial support, and having no real support base, aside its patronage when in power, d party doesn't have the experience, skill and zest to garner financial support from Nigerians already inundated with tales of how pdp brought us to this depth. I still maintain that the only way out is for honest, genuine, party members to float a new party and play genuine opposition politics for some years. PDP as presently constituted is too tarnished to survive the next 4years or thereabouts. 2 Likes 1 Share |

So why is Rochas Okorocha who was in Lagos State contesting for APC presidential primaries when APC Imo State had their State primaries still doing in Government House? If APC can spontaneously announce Imo State primary election to be held by 6pm in the evening, an hour to the scheduled election and Uche Nwosu (Rochas inlaw) who wasn't part of the election emerged as a candidate when Okorocha was still in Lagos. How is this satisfactorily acceptable even when INEC wasn't available then but PDP's own becomes a problem? APC Psycophants should stop encouraging Judicial rascality and executive interference to avoid destroying our democracy for constitutional dictatorship. Say No to constitutional dictatorship, standup against APC before they sink our power to choose our Leaders. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

IsraeliAIRFORCE: You are as clueless as your your party, PDP. May be you are suffering from Alzheimer disease. What did the PDP plead in IMO state and what were the pleas of APC in Taraba state? Majek Fashek sang that you don't sow cassava and reap cocoyam. It is now obvious that ye all in PDP need rehabilitation at NIPSS Kuru, to qualify as an opposition party. Saying PDP is an opposition party is tantamount to wearing a pig a crown because a pig will always seek after decaying matter. 2 Likes |

IsraeliAIRFORCE: The problem with PDP n its supporters is that you know the right thing to do but instead of doing it you'd rather argue it on the pages of newspaper or on NL. Please ask yourself did Ihedioha seek for such prayer against Okorocha ? If he did n Okorocha was not able to met the INEC deadline which would have been glaring to all. Do you think such judgement would not have favoured the PDP ? Is it not beta to argue this at the law court instead of NL ? |

IsraeliAIRFORCE: Ngwakwe the kindergarten politcal analyst ex-moderator: 1. Primaries were not conducted in the state against the constitution. 2. Primaries were conducted after the time stipulated for prmaries of political parties have elasped. Off course PDP thought they will win centrally and offcourse impunity will be the order of the day as usual but alas, they lost woefully If you have any case against Okorocha go to court! |

slimz10: I dnt know what you refer to by hardcore. More than 65% of the state are fade up with Akpabio PDP. Not even now, but since 4 years ago when Akpabio in his first tenure started killing and kidnapping people everywhere in the state that could oppose him, I mean those in PDP. The only reason why they are still in power is because people are not allowed to vote. They use intimidation, kidnapping, thuggery and outright forcefulness to make sure they are there. Forget that nonsense they talk saying Akwaibom is a PDP state. They themselves know the truth of what could happen if they allow election in the state to be voteable. |
