I share your concern about the tribunals but they have always been like that. And sacking Ishaku was in order - our parties should stop throwing out the rule book. I hope the Court of Appeal orders a rerun and make a similar ruling in Benue where the APC did their own primary magic.
I have noticed you are quite neutral, so I'll try to explain the situation to you.

The problem here is that PDP didn't comply with the electoral laws. One, they held primaries outside of the state capital, which is against electoral laws. Two, they even held the primaries outside of the timeline stipulated by the electoral laws. Now, based on these two grounds, it means that PDP was ineligible for the election, to even start with. In the eyes of the law, they didn't even contest at all, because they weren't eligible. These are valid points that are undisputable.

Therefore, the tribunal couldn't order a rerun because the only eligible candidate with the highest number of votes was Aisha Alhassan.

These guys that are arguing know these facts, but they have refused to keep their emotion aside and face reality.

Democracy is all about what the majority of the people want!! So far majority of Tarabians have voted against her at the polls!! Any attempt to smuggle her through the back door would lead to anarchy!!
Even if that is true, why didn't PDP play by the rule? Or is it because they are generally rule breakers?

oga u have large population of Moslems in auchi, edo state. have u seen them produce a moslem governor. have taraba had a moslem gov before, we know state in the north where Muslims can rule not taraba for now.

u may have to continue shaking ur head, probably at ur own ignorance.

Most of you have refused to come to reality with the judgement and the grounds on which it was made. No higher court will reverse this decision.

Meanwhile, I sympathise with those who lost their loved ones, and RIP to the dead. But the law doesn't give in to emotion.

Well, you are probably right. After all, the Supreme Court didn't order a re-run in the Amechi-Omehia case. But it doesn't end there. What has just happened is that the person the people voted for has been outed. In a part of the country where ethno-religious tensions are always simmering just below the surface, we may be headed for another Plateau. I hope the Court of Appeal orders a rerun. This law that lets someone come in by default is judge-made and we need to look at it again. It seems the majority must see their candidate win for peace to reign.

Okay, she may not have been elected but it has been proven that they were some discrepancies on the part of her opponent's candidacy e.g. primaries for governorship election was conducted in Abuja and not in Taraba state, this is against the party's constitution. I am pro PDP any day, but I also think it is about time a woman becomes a state governor too. I still hope she will change her party though
. It's about religion, not party
APC would have won by a landslide if they had presented a Christian candidate, be it male or female

I warned about this yesterday. Most people commenting on threads here have never been to Taraba and do not understand how politics goes on there. I witnessed and conducted the last election in Taraba as an ad hoc staff and was baffled at the pattern of voting there. APC won in every muslim village or polling unit while the opposite was the case for pdp. One has to thread softly here because politics is sensitive in that area. Its like having a christian as governor in Kano state.

Spot on. I had my service there during the 2011 inec regs, and I can say that Taraba is Muslim vs Christian when it comes to electioneering. And the Christians will never want a Muslim to be at the helm based on some characteristics the Muslims in Taraba have exhibited over the years, while the Muslims would fight tooth and nail to get that trophy.
I hope this doesn't degenerate into some thing more serious because Wukari has been a ticking time bomb since that 2011. God help Wukarians, I love em.

Nice comments from both of you. Don't mind those e-idiots saying rubbish. Kaduna is predominantly Muslim, yet it has been governed by a Christian before. So, why should Taraba be any different?

By the way, the grounds on which the tribunal nullified the election and declared her winner is very clear. The PDP didn't comply with the electoral laws, plain and simple.
The Christian governor of Kaduna only resulted from elevation of the deputy after the death of the Muslim governor

And that's why Benue people are not okay with an APC governor, in as much as he's a Christian. APC knew the right to do in a state like Taraba but their hidden Islamic agenda would not let them.

The worst the tribunal should have done was to order a re-run and not declare her Governor against the wishes of majority of Tarabians!! What sort of democracy is that? To your last statement even if Alhassan decamps to PDP she would still have problems!! Majority of Tarabians are christians and would not want a muslim Governor ruling over them.

You think only Muslims voted for her? The Christians who voted for want her to be the Governor. There is nothing in the constitution that says a Muslim cannot be the governor of Taraba state if the Taraba citizens elected him/her.

You problem is ignorance. Any indegene can be a governor. Governors office is not a mosque or a church.

In your foolishness INEC should not even accept a Muslim candidate for Taraba governorship, only non Muslims should contest , abi?
