I have to disagree with this. Vardy is currently the best in leicester and arguably the best striker in EPL at the moment. No one comes close.

Smalling is the EPL's most in-form defender this season, besides the gap between Smalling and the best defender (Say, Kompany) in the league isnt as great as Vardy's with the best Striker (Say, Aguero), so it is more forgivable to use 'best' to describe Smalling as the only weakness he used to have has been worked on and he is playing like the 'bests' even at their peak - something Vardy isnt and wont do.


Why bandy that word 'best' though, best is considering a whole lot of things that makes a striker; goals, hold-up play, bringing others into play, creating chances, blah blah..Vardy has some but not all of that, yes he has goal, can run around and his upper-body strenght is decent, but he isnt the 'best'..Only Aguero deserves that tag in the EPL.
