Not true. She would have problems. She wants to study English, a pass in Literature is a must.
Remember she going in for B.A (ED) English and not B.A in English.
I actually read Mathematics Education and a coursemate of mine who never did sciences applied for same course and was admitted with English, Mathematics, Agric. Sc, Biology and Economics. Although I became his saving grace in the first 3 semesters of 100 and 200 levels involving Physics-related courses through intensive Tutorials and today we are both graduates even for someone who never studied physics b4. So I also knew about English Education graduates too who did not even had O-level literature as a subject reflected on their result at all.
By the way, He said she has been admitted and I guess the same O-level result was submitted to jamb during UTME registration isn't it?

We should remember that most of this other courses are actually being replaced by sociological, psychological and phylosophical courses under Education apart from other educational courses too just like we in Maths Education dropped 2 mathematical 3 credit courses only to be replaced by 3 or 4 2credit Educational Courses. So it could be a part of literature that would be undertaken as NUC's requirement is that no program at any semester should exceed a maximum of 24 credit loads except for some few sciences courses that must be covered before graduation owing to the compulsory 6 months INDUSTRIAL ATTACHMENT to be undertaken

I totally understand your point and I want you to see mine.

Lemme ask you a question, can a Physics edu student not have physics as one of his compulsory subjects that must be passed?

English and Mathematics are compulsory. But for some courses, they have compulsory courses that must be passed and some give you the liberty of picking 3 out of 4 options.

For my course. 5 credits. English and Maths compulsory.
But if you have pass in Chem and Physics then you won't be admitted.
The department won't accept you, they'll defer you to another department that accepts the combination of subjects that you passed.

About the Jamb admission issue, Jamb can't use WAEC results to decide if a university should accept students or not.
They do Jamb, pass it. Then you do P.Utme. Pass it
Then you're given admission.

Then the screening starts. That's where the issue of waec subjects combination comes into play.

It happened to some of my course mates. They thought they were already admitted for the course.
They were deferred to another course during screening.

Lol!

Actually you can go for your service and come back for convo later on.

What about institutions that for more than 3 years now, there is no convocation.
Won't the graduates go for NYSC? They will.

Hey calm down and ease ur nerves ok.
>Naturally Convocation is not always compulsory
>Better still, the proposed feb/mar could be such that camping would have ended at most by mid April, so you could still attend it during the few one or two weeks break from ur place of primary assignment. Or has the date been fixed for early April?

Yoruba will say "Iranse nkan o di kan lowo". In as much as the date of the convocation doesn't fall in of the days one will be in camp and you have the finance to transport yourself to school, then nothing is stopping you from attending the historical gathering.

Well, as for me.
I'll have a meeting with all the State Coordinators and Camp Commandants.

Give more attention to the Kitchen department.

Looks for ways in which corp members posted to rural areas of the state can have more compensation.

Lastly, seek for ways to increase the allawee.

Yes and the reasons are usually politically motivated as most of the invited guests and Honourary Doctorate Degree awardees do pay for such, hence you can't be inviting them annually and be expecting them to be paying every year nauw

Sad but funny

I went to watch barca match last weekend buh was shocked at the sight of a crowd outside the viewing centre, i move closer to knw wat was happening nd i saw a grown up man weeping as he sat on the ground, he was a Chelsea fan, though i knw Chelsea had lost buh his display was amazing. Curiously i asked why he was weeping like that, a grown up man for that matter..l was told his bike (okada) had been stolen, that was when i realised he's a bike man.

The funny part,
like a popular song it was double wahala for the man, Chelsea lost, bike stolen. People were consoling him, they told him not to kill himself, but his response was so funny that everyone busted into laughter.

He said '' eje fimile kinku, tin ba kuku ku loni maa ku lola''...you had better leave me to die, cos if i don't die today i will surely die tomorrow.

I cudnt stop laughing.

We later called his wife to come and pick him, it was then we knw why he wanted to die, he jst got the okada at hire purchase, also his wife started insulting him right from that spot, she was like ''eeya pe awon chelsea pe won ti ji okada lo, boya won a rami fun yin''..you had better inform chelsea that your bike has been stolen, perhaps they will get you a new one..

I was sad nd wished i cud help..

I don't think he should have a problem reaching out to chealsea to help aid his predicament....since he is a fervent supporter. Very funny incident, walahi. I love the wife!

He's a Yoruba guy. Maybe he feels the best way he could express himself is to use the phrase. which is a Yoruba adage.

I'm actually laughing/smiling at the way you think he could be attacking/mocking you.
And I understand where you come from. Simply because you don't understand Yoruba Language.

But Abbie, next time try and understand the meaning of the phrase before taking action.

He simply means, being on NYSC service doesn't disrupt or interrupt Convocation.

Infact you have just coroborated my point. What you just explained obtains everywhere across all Nigerian Universities but WHAT I WAS TRYING TO POINT OUT IS THAT IN EDUCATIONAL RELATED PROGRAMS, FACULTY OFFICERS AND HODs OF THE VARIOUS UNITS DOES THE CLEARING AND NOT THE COURSES LECTURERS IN THE VARIOUS SUB-UNITS, WHAT THOSE ONES DOES IS SIGNING OF COURSES IN THE COURSE FORMS AFTER CLEARANCE AND PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES.
THE EXAMPLE OF PHYSIC EDUCATION YOU CITED DOESN'T APPLY BECAUSE IN MY REFERENCE, I DIDN'T SAY THAT MY COURSEMATE FAILED MATHEMATICS AND I ALSO MENTIONED OF ENGLISH EDUCATION GRADUATES WHO DIDN'T EVEN HAD OR WROTE THE SUBJECT LITERATURE AT ALL DURING THEIR O LEVEL EXAMS, ALTHOUGH THEY DID A PART OF IT DURING THE COURSE OF THEIR UNDERGRADUATE DAYS.
FINALLY, MY PARTICULAR POINT IS THAT, FOR UNIVERSITY EDUCATION STUDENTS, MANY OTHER COURSES ARE USUALLY BEING DROPPED TO ACCOMONDATE OTHER COURSES IN SOCIOLOGY, PSYCHOLOGY AND PHILOSOPHY AS THEY ARE RELATED TO EDUCATION APART FROM OTHER CORE EDUCATIONAL COURSES OF WHICH LITERATURE DETAILS IS ONE OF THE COURSES BEING DROPPED BECAUSE ALL EDUCATION STUDENTS INCLUDING US SCIENCE STILL TAKE A COURSE CALLED COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN BOTH 100 AND 200 LEVELS WHERE WE WERE EVEN FORCED TO BUY 3 NOVELS, AND YES WE BOUGHT IT IRRESPECTIVE OF BEING SCIENCE STUDENTS UNDER EDUCATION, NOW AS A SCIENCE STUDENT IN SECONDARY SCHOOL WHAT CONNECTION DO I HAVE WITH LITERATURE? BUT ALAS I HAD TO DO A BIT OF IT UNDER EDUCATION SO MAY BE ALL THESE BORROWED COURSES ACTUALLY MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR CLASSIFYING EDUCATION PROGRAMS AS DOUBLE HONOURS BECAUSE ON THE CERTIFICATE,IT IS USUALLY WRITTEN B.Sc (ED) followed by the course which could be MATHEMATICS PHYSICS CHEMISTRY BIOLOGY INTERSCIENCE ETC.
WHILE FOR ARTS, IT IS B.A (ED) followed by GEOGRAPHY ECONOMICS CRS IRS ENGLISH SOCIAL STUDIES ETC

Ok, frm the submissions so far, i can deduce that she may likely get another program instead at worst scenario not that her admission may be rejected and that won't be a prbm. Cos based on status-quo, one must have passed 5 relevant subjects bfor he/she can scale through the screening process except schools where they issue outstanding forms. Also for art students, i thnk literature is as relevant as physics or chem is to science students, that got me worried. The school is Adeyemi university of edu. Ondo.

But I'm almost certain that she needs literature. I'd suggest you call the HOD or college officer and make inquiries so you can be certain and your minds can be at ease.

NYSC doesn't care whether or not we do convocation. In my school last year, they were mobilized November and their convocation wasn't till January. If during convocation you're still in camp, they'd give you guys a week exclusion if your school requests for it.
