Icon4s:Lolz.. I perfectly agree with you..the lads really gave a good fight and I salute their 'never say die' spirit . Great futures ahead of the boys especially Daniel , Azubuike and Etebo . I hope NFF would develop a mentorship program for our homegrown players who would guide the boys when some European clubs start chasing them. |

Icon4s: Yaya Toure Took the shot and it deflected off Iheanacho's back. The ball looped over the keeper and entered the net. It is not a Yaya's goal but Iheanacho. |

SAVIOUR GODWIN – My mum, my jewel Saviour Godwin, KV Oostende’s Nigerian striker has described his mother as his greatest inspiration ; adding without her support over the years, he won’t be where he is today. Some two years ago, the fast-paced winger was struggling out there until destiny smiled on him and was finally included in the Golden Eaglets to the FIFA Under-17 World Cup UAE 2013. Yet he was a bit player coming from the bench in six matches when Nigeria clinched her fourth title following a 3-0 spanking of Mexico in Abu Dhabi. He was not included in the Flying Eagles’ squad to the 2015 African Under-20 Nations Cup in Senegal where Nigeria ended on the podium for the Gold Medal. But Godwin is a sort of player that believes in his own ability and he naturally picked up the gauntlet to force his way into the FIFA Under-20 World Cup New Zealand 2015 team and has been an integral part of the National Under-23 Team ( Dream Team Six) under coach Samson Siasia. No wonder, he is regarded today regarded as one of the country’s most promising youngster. “ My mum has really been helpful to my career even with all the drama that I have seen in life,” Godwin, a happy-go lad told MORAKINYO ABODUNRIN. “ She has always been there to take away the pressure off me. “I remember when she used to give me money to transport myself to training and also feed myself; she is fair in complexion and a very good-hearted beautiful woman who gave birth to three boys and one girl. “She has really sacrificed for me to get where I am today; I got Inspiration from my mum and family also. A lot of other people like my manager and many others have also been very supportive and when I was down , they always talk to me but my mum will always remain special to me,” he noted. Apart from his mum, Godwin has coaches like Manu Garba and Samson Siasia to thank for fast tracking his career at the national team level. At the FIFA Under-20 World Cup New Zealand 2015, Godwin caught the eyes of everyone with his effervescent play in the 3-1 thrashing of North Korea to the delight of Garba who showered him with praise: “He’s a lad I know well because he was in our squad when we won the U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates in 2013. “I put him in my starting XI today for tactical reasons. He’s quick, holds the ball up well and he can shoot with both feet. His qualities seemed useful for taking on Korea DPR. Saviour responded in the right way, even if he can still do more. But it’s true that his two goals did us a lot of good.” On a personal note, Godwin has been faithful to himself too. In the summer , the 19-year-old Godwin fulfilled his long time dream of playing in Europe when he was snapped up by Belgian Jupiler side, KV Oostende and he promptly took to his Facebook page on August 22nd to give glory to God:“Today , I say thank u JEHOVAH for ur Favour in my life, thank u lord for the best birthday gift ever.hbd to me.” Time and again, Godwin reckons Jehovah has been his saviour and most often than not, he’s always on the social media singing and dancing to celebrate his progressing football career. ” You don’t know what I have been through,” Godwin recently on his Facebook Timeline; “U don’t know where I go, u don’t know what I do. Plz just listen cause God is the secret. ” Here is another sampler:”They ask me y am too obsessed with God, then I reply, cause he gave his life for me to be alive, take all I have lord but accept me in your kingdom.” He equally admitted that he has been blessed with unmerited favour from when he started pacing the street odf Jos as a budding footballer with EI-Kanemi Junior Team amongst other grassroots teams before hitting stardom with the national teams. From Under -17 to Under-23 It was great to be in the 2013 Under-17 team that won the World Cup and it was good moving a step forward from there with most of the technical staffs of the Under-17 who graduated to Under-20, the likes of coach Manu Garba and Nduka Ugbade. A lot of them I must really appreciate; all the crew who made it possible for us to win the World Cup because without them I wouldn’t realize my lapses and work on them; and it really made a lot of significance to my career. In the Under-20 it was a different ball game entirely; but thanks to a great man of honour Samson Siasia who has helped me tremendously in my career. He gave me the opportunity to play with the Under-23 team ; to play and work on myself without pressure. He has also been some one very important in building my career. Would have loved to be in Senegal (for the CAF U-23 Olympic Tournament) but everything had to do with my club because the league is getting tougher. thenationonlineng.net/saviour-godwin-my-mum-my-jewel/ 1 Like |

How Champions U-23 Eagles Rated Vs Algeria By Adeboye Amosu: EMMANUEL DANIEL 7/10 He proved his class in goal once again by saving a penalty for the second consecutive game. The Rangers goalie also made some crucial saves in the game to help his side win the title. SINCERE SETH 6/10 Performed his defensive task well and also made some crucial interceptions especially in the second half. CHIZOBA AMAEFULE 7/10 Put up his best showing in the competition. He helped keep the Algerians at bay especially in the second half when they went in search of the equalising goal. SEGUN ODUDUWA 5/10 Looked shaky at times and scored an own goal in the first half. NDIFREKE EFFIONG 6/10 A better showing from the left-back, but will need to work on his concentration. AZUBUIKE OKECHUKWU 7/10 He was an influential figure in the midfield helping in moving the ball forward and also providing support for the defence. USMAN MOHAMMED 7/10 The FC Taraba midfielder was full of running in the game, always tracking back to help the defence and also supporting the attack. TIONGOLI TONGARA 5/10 Failed to impress on the night and was duly substituted in the second half. OGHENEKARO ETEBO 9/10 Unarguably the man of the match. The Warri Wolves forward scored twice to help Nigeria win the game. He is the tournament's top scorer with five goals. VICTOR OSIMHEN 7/10 Fluffed two opportunities of getting on the score sheet. The youngster however put up a lively display in the game. JUNIOR AJAYI 5/10 Looked way below his best and never really made much impact in the game. SUBSTITUTES KUFRE EBONG 3/10 Took the place of Tiongoli Tonbara and failed to make an impact in the game. BATURE YARO 4/10 Did well to help his side protect their lead after coming on for Victor Osimhen in the 71st minute. www.completesportsnigeria.com/u-23-eagles-rated-mali/ |

Why Nigeria Needed The Olympic Ticket Biyi Akangbe By: Obiweluozo Martins As the CAF U-23 Championship began in Senegal, there were questions as regards the Dream Team VI participation in the Championship coupled with off field distractions as players were not released and on time as well for the announce of the squad list. Also Coach Samson’s Siasia’s mom was abducted but with special thanks to all hands on desk was released before the first games. The Dream Team IV was missing stars like Alex Iwobi and Musa Yahaya but still Nigerians watched with keen interest expecting the team to secure the Olympic ticket. Indeed even with the withdrawal of some players, the Samson Siasia led side was able to qualify for the tournament in Rio, De Janeiro, Brazil next year. On this note SoccerNet Nigeria takes a look at why the Dream Team VI needed the Olympic ticket. FOR SCOUT RECOGNITION Etebo, One of those talent that need global recognition Over the years, scout have watched major tournament for identification of talents and stars of the future and the Olympic Games offers an avenue for talent to be showcased and therefore with this qualification Nigerians players on parade at next year football event will be scouted and recognized by scout who would watch match proceeding during the tournament. Nigerian players have always been of keen interest to the scout as the nation is renowned with talented players and this tournament will further help in exposing some decent Nigerian players to the watching eye of scout across the globe when the tournament gets under way in Rio, Brazil. IMPROVE PROFILE OF THE PLAYERSThe Olympic Games is a tournament which is well renowned in the games and the football event will definitely catch the eye of many both the scout, coaches and supporters (fans) as well. This will lead to media talk, hype and several interest from clubs as this competition would aid in improving the profile of the player and bring them into limelight to the footballing world as coaches are also taking their time in identifying those that can improve their squad in the near future. This Olympic Games will offer players like Usman Mohammed, Azubuike Okechukwu and Etebo Oghenekaro an opportunity to improve their profile as clubs in Europe may be locking around at the door with potential deals. TO RESTORE OUR LOST REPUTATION To restore the Nigerian football tradition on the global stage The Nigerian football fortunes have dwindled over the ages with the recurring struggle of our national team to win games and win convincingly, but the Olympic Games is an opportunity for Nigeria to right their wrong and restore pride for this great football nation Nigeria. Players like Azubuike Okechukwu, Kelechi Iheanacho and Moses Simon have the capability to put Nigeria’s name on the football map once again to the notice of the world at the Olympic Games next year in Rio. The football world and Africa as well has been waiting for Nigeria to come on board and show what it is made off but due to some instability our national team have faltered over the years but the onus is on the Dream Team VI led by Samson Siasia to come back to reckoning and take it right place at the top and thus restoring the pride and belief every one had in the Nigeria football trajectory. The time is now and it can be done once again with a superb performance at the Olympic Games next year in Rio, Brazil. ENHANCING THE COACHES TRUST AT CLUB LEVEL Iheanacho, certainly need to showcase himself at the Olympics. Players like Kelechi Iheanacho, Musa Yahaya and Alex Iwobi hopefully would be offered another opportunity to impress at the Olympic Games and this will propel their reputation at club level and endear them to the heart of their club managers if success and good performance is attained by these players at the Olympic Games next year in Rio, Brazil. This in turn will win them a place in the eyes of the club and they will be respected at club level as they are also sorted after by prospective suitors. When you perform at the Olympic Games where all eyes are on you, it makes you a hot property (every team would want to have your signature for a deal) and it will be a massive one for these Nigerian players. Barcelona defender Godswill Ekpolor who is down behind Daniel Alves in the packing order, if selected may have a chance to make a case for himself and fight for a shirt in the Barcelona first team. POSITIVE TRANSITION TO THE SUPER EAGLES |

The failure to qualify for the previous edition won my Mexico in 2012 haunted Nigeria football as their was failure also in AFCON qualification in 2014 as super Eagles struggled do to lack of quality inclusion in the team as the then Dream Team was forgotten. This affected the Nigerian football hemisphere as quality players like Lukman Haruna, Nosa Igiebor Rabiu Ibrahim, Anthony Ujah, and Ekigho Ehiosun could not come on board and secure better deals in Europe and the coach did not really look their way due to their failure to qualify. It derived Nigeria a chance to unearthed a superb generation of players which are now scattered into oblivion across Europe but with the qualification for the next year event except a massive junk of the Dream Team VI that comprises of Oghenekaro Etebo, Chidiebere Nwakali, Isaac Success, Sincere Seth and Alex Iwobi to make the breakthrough to the National Team on consistent basis to the benefit of the Senior national team, the Super Eagles and for Nigeria football at large. www.soccernet.com.ng/2015/12/why-nigeria-needed-olympic-ticket.html |

Icon4s: I don't know why people are saying Enyeama is done with like the man is 70 years of age. At 33 he is just entering the peak of his career, goalkeapers have more longevity than outfield players. Buffon is still no 1 for Juve and Italy and that is not them being nice, they have how many goalies in their youth system but still pick him cuz he is the best. We have to stop pushing players out of our team if they can still perform they should always be there. Who is the best Nigerian goalkeaper today? Brasil won't go to groom and showcase players in a major tournament and neither do Germany nor Argentina, they go for the trophy not to gain publicity for any one player. My Ighalo choice was not out of necessity but with regards to his recent exploits. You of all people should know that he was underperforming because "he wasn't there yet" but now i believe we can rely on him to at least show our boys what it takes to reach the top. 20 goals in the championship and 10 so far in the epl it would take a bold coach not to select him. 1 Like |

BascoVanVeli: See bros, we are nt d ones pushing Enyeama out of d national team bt he himself. Somebody that had retired like 2ce before now and each time we go begging him. We are tired of begging dat same Enyeama, so we want to develop another one. Idion Ighalo is currently our best striker bt I am telling u "he is nt there yet" . The Super Eagles have a goal scoring problem and Ighalo may jst on d short term strive to fill dat position. We need to profer a longer term Solution by allowing d younger boys. Odion is average to me. We need to raise a striker or strikers that can rival Yekini and Kanu.Going into d 1996 Olympics Rasheedi Yekini was by far our best striker. Bt Nigeria knew we needed to raise his replacement and thats how Victor Ikpeba and Nwankwo Kanu (hu were both U23) led d attack. We need to see d strike partnership of Success/Iheanacho/Etebor/Ezekiel.I believe this partnership in any form or combination can get d job done in Rio. 1 Like |

BascoVanVeli: Enyeama has a lot of years ahead of him but I do not think we need the Head Coach of the Olympic team to go begging Enyeama to come back. We also have to respect Enyeama's choice of retiring. If Enyeama makes himself available for Coach Siasia, then the cosch can choose him. Until then, we should give Daniel his deserved chance. There are other areas of the team that will require more experienced legs than the goal keeper position. Why reduce the chances of having over age experienced players in weak positions than an area we already have a capable hands. |

TheGoodJoe: The word is convince not beg. You tell him why he should want to be in the team. I can guarantee u that in Portugal there is a spot for CR7, just like Sweden with Ibra and i can also bet these greats will be holding their countries flags at the opening, why can't Enyeama have that? |
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 3:47pm On Dec 13, 2015 |
BascoVanVeli: If CR7, Messi, Nasri or Neuer decide to retire from football today, I doubt their coaches will seek to convince them to play. It does not work like that. Those that play for the country are those that are ready to play. Not those that require convincing. The likes of Buffon, Ibra, Totti, are willing to play for their nations. Enyeama announced his retirement. 1 Like |

AF Nigeria Nigeria Premier League 2015 Warri Wolves Etebo shines with U23s to deserve CHAN chance Nigeria U23 star Oghenekaro (left) - He has done enough at the U23 AFCON to earn his place at next year's CHAN. Warri Wolves forward Oghenekaro Etebo has shone at the U23 AFCON in Senegal to prove he deserves to be considered for next year’s CHAN in Rwanda. U23 AFCON FINAL: Nigeria 2 Algeria 1 Etebo was not one of 26 players named by Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh, who will begin a training camp in Abuja on Monday for the 2016 CHAN in Rwanda. Nigeria won the U23 AFCON with Etebo emerging as the top scorer of the tournament with five goals including the decisive strikes in both the semi-final and final. His winning goal in a 2-1 win over Algeria in the U23 AFCON final oozed pure class as he took off on a solo run into the heart of the opponents’ defence before he coolly slotted home past the onrushing goalkeeper, who before then had only conceded a goal. In the semi-final against hosts and favourites Senegal, he led the team to victory in the absence of three other key figures in the team, namely captain Azubuike Okechukwu, Taiwo Awoniyi and Stanley Dimgba. He and Usman Mohammed were specially chosen by coach Samson Siasia, when there was a clash of engagements between the U23s and Eagles earlier this year with Chima Akas and Kingsley Sokari released to the home Eagles. Etebo is a skillful forward armed with a great dribble and superb vision to create chances for others to score goals. The striker is fast, packs a decent shot and as he proved in Senegal, he is a very cool customer from the penalty spot. He is also good at set pieces – flashback to his audacious goal attempt from more than 40 yards against Algeria in a group game in Senegal - and as long as he is not bogged down by a knee injury, which has set back his career, he is a very consistent performer. After scoring 16 of goals in his rookie season in the Nigeria league in 2013/14, he scored five goals in the just concluded season NPFL for league runners-up Warri Wolves. Etebo was dropped at the last minute from the final squad to the CHAN last year and has already been capped at full international level by Nigeria. No doubt, he is one player from the U23 AFCON, who could add quality to the home-based Eagles heading to the CHAN next month. Others to consider for the CHAN would be left winger Stanley Dimgba, if he would be fit again before the tournament, and goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel. enomakos: Tiago Ilori is likely going to play in the Olympics but I think not with Nigeria because Portugal also qualified for the Olympics. However, Samson Siasia should try to convince him to play for Nigeria. Chuck Aneke will gladly want to play for Nigeria now because he's off the radar of the 3 lions for now. But If his club book a place to play in Champions League next season then we should just forget about him. These two players are very talente and I believe that if they are given the chance they will displace...... 1 Like |

What we don't get is that at 33 he will get better. If he can come back with extra motivation why not. |

Kingsley Ehizibue scored his first goal of the season for PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie league today. He was substituted in the 89th minutes. Ehizibue is a Dutch born Nigerian player. Other Nigerians in the Eredivisie league are Michael Olaitan ( FC Twente), Tyronne Ebuechi (Ado Den Haag), Segun Owobowale (Ado Den Haag), Bartholomew Ogbeche (Chunbuur), Funso-ojo (Willem ii), Dominic Solanke (Viteses), Abiola Dauda (Viteses), Kenneth Otigba (Hevereen). I am still wondering why none of these players have been called up to play any of the National teams. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

enomakos: Just as long as we don't repeat the great mistake of Alaba. There should be an open door policy for all foreign based youths. 2 Likes |
