perfect response for the bigots.some universities(eg University of Ibadan ) in Nigeria have Latin as their motto. We muslims didn't complain that Latin is one of roman Catholic languages.
I think to solve such scenario is to include the English version of it. English is understand by at least 80% of Nigerians

It is one of the languages we speak. On many of the insignia worldwide the Latin language is used even when none of them speak Latin and never did as a nation.
...and how does your latter scenario of Latin compare to this? People are questioning why Ajami (which is basically Hausa) inscription is in The Nigerian Army logo, you are talking about Latin (which nobody speaks anymore in it's pure form, and has long been the language of the "learned" such as in professions as Law).

however, Arabic isn't bad, and lemme even correct the notion that only Arabs use Arabic, Christians in the middle east use same. Mr. Itk pls learn to respect other people's religion if you must succeed in a mixed religious nation. aslong as the inscription didn't mean boko haram, I am fine with it and FYI my dad is a soldier and I am Christian and I am proud of all Christians & Muslims in the Nig. everything to some people is politics in Nigeria. what is wrong in us having the logo what it is? If you think with your religion, you must have your way in everything in Nigeria, then you are not fair and you cannot realize your expectation. How would you see it if the Muslims too ask for holiday on Fridays to allow them go to mosque like you people do on Sunday? You diplomatically argue, mend and manipulate issues to favour yourselves rather than allowing God to have His way. We understand the basis of your question. ''no be today''

Muslims are the best of mankind!

My strong take is that he will pretend as if it is not as important as getting jobs for the Nigerian youths!
Muslim /Christian sentiments will always be here for a long while! Check from even amongst young people on Nairaland...if the question is put here...
If you want that Arabic insignia removed...all the AYEs will be Christians and all the NAYs will be Muslims! As in all on both sides of the divide..so where do we go from here?
God bless you for saying the truth.. We are the ones that tied ourselves down.
Re: Meaning Of The Arabic Word On Nigerian Army Logo by abnur14(m): 2:15pm On Dec 13, 2015
this is something that has been on the logo for decades...moreover it is not about religion or so ..in Nigeria the 7 clans of Hausa originated from the rule of an Arabian who was identified as bayagidda used Arabic letters to communicate before the white man came to the country.. the language that was spoken then didn't change but the letters that were used to express it was arabic..we call it ajamu da larabci..if u check the Arabic writing on hundred naira its written in Arabic bt transliteration of what's there is ”naira Dari" ...meaning hundred naira..so don't assume its some kind of international language inscribed on our logo its also a language used by Hausa people.. based on my assumption its a way to indicate the influence of the Hausa clan in the Nigerian military.. am not sure ..BT y d Igbo or youruba writings were not included pls don't ask me cuz I don't know am just giving my assumption.. #dont get me wrong #

My dear U sound a bit emotional!
Arabic, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, French etc is a language and non is bad!
But the application in this subject matter is wrong!
That a President/leader understand a foreign language does not justify it usage in a national currency.
If U own a company, do U communicate with your employees with your dialect or in our lingual franca?
This case is simple devoid of any argument my brother.
I love everyone too as I also have them as good friends but the truth we cannot hide from each other!

My dear, your point is baseless in the sense that if you open your english dictionary, you will see thousands of Latin and Greek words there together with their meanings.
So, my questions are:
Who wrote the dictionary?
How many Arabian and Persian words are in the english dictionary?
Are the words Biology and Mathematics originated from english words?
Thanks as I await for your answers.
try check the origins of these words algebra and algorithm.

we also want to know why Latin is being used in most legal phrases,we also want to know why some universities use Latin as their motto.
Some universities in the north have arabic texts in their logos.. That one is very acceptable. Some english words and legal terms are borrowed from latin, spanish, french, portugese, german, and so on, and are used as english terms once borrowed... That is also very acceptable..
But the "Nigerian Army".., The Text there is not supposed to be borrowed. it was clearly not written in English. It's way too far.

Don't tell me that these northern univeristy logos have latin texts in them too.... These are just two.. There are many of them.

Everything in Nigeria is Islamic, check the inscription on our currency also.
funny enough you people accuse Muslims of intolerance but just this Arabic issue, you are saying it's improper. Fg recognizes two Christians sabbath days, Saturdays and Sundays as public holidays but fail to do such for Muslims on Fridays. Governments hospitals have crosses on their ambulances too but you won't criticize it.
FYI, I don't care if Arabic is used or not because it doesn't even signify any important things about Muslims in Nigeria like you may think but my point is most of you are hypocrites.
It's not ur fault though as Muslim leaders will not talk about relevant issues but criticizing removal of Aramaic/Arabic inscription on naira.

Islamic clerics speak it, and there is proof that many decades ago before the advent of British education system many more people used it in the courts of the Kano sultanate and in the Bornu Empire by scribes. It is also a lettering which predates most others.
Even yoruba muslims once used arabic(ajami) for writing!

Before Latin became the language of the learned as you say, Arabic has been used by scribes and mathematicians. It is was also the first of the ancient lettered languages which the Nigerian entity came into contact with.

The Nigerian Army logo is an item of national importance.. A lot of things need to be corrected.

Corrected to what, Aramic/Arabic or Ajami are very valid ancient lettering and very much intricate in ancient mathematics and arithmetic as well as history and text.

A great deal of old texts dating back to the time after Emperor Constantine and it's fall to the caliphate are written in said text

Is english your language, at the time of the formation of the British Royal west African/Niger force, the Yoruba language had not been developed into such vivid text, neither had the Igbo. The only language with substantive text was Ajami.
