Please I have a question for ernie4life: if a mutual investment fund require #5000 naira, does it mean I have to invest #5000 every month? Can I use the principal for the first month as a principal for the second month( using the same #5000 for different months) or am I to keep using fresh #5000? I asked from First Bank as per the #5000 option but I got confused about their answer. N.B: anyone who has used mutual funds before can also reply this question. |
Re: Mutual Funds by taiwoliu(m): 1:47pm On Jan 02, 2016 |
rapmike:5000 is ur start capital..... U could leave it lyk dt till year end, or u could increase it as u want by adding 5000 monthly, biannually or quarterly. It's ur choice. |
Re: Mutual Funds by rapmike(m): 2:09pm On Jan 02, 2016 |
taiwoliu: Thanks. I went to First Bank branch and enquired about the mutual funds option that was #5000 as minimum requirement. They directed me to one dude who was just talking about me dropping #5000 per month. I was just discouraged as I planned to drop #5k once and keep using it for a year or thereabouts. Maybe I will ask from another branch. |

@Carpenter What role does a Register play in the FBN MM? According to your story, you had signature issue with the Register during the time of your fund redemption. I invested in FBN MM fund but i never had a any dealing with the Register. Please clarify. |

Re: Mutual Funds by drdams: 4:22pm On Jan 03, 2016 |
I notice Investment one is confused as regards rate too use this year because technically it should be 4% considering the assymetrical thingy! ARM is the highest for now as the lowest yield since the revised MPR is 10.38% or thereabout. Now I can risk my VGIF for this month , if it runs @ 4% , I will redeem ALL my fund and interest but to where? STANBic ( plumetting) of FBN ( vague and obscure) or Add to my ARM ( last resort cos I like divesting and monitoring/ comparing trends ). Kindly input your view! Regards. 1 Like |
Re: Mutual Funds by drdams: 4:27pm On Jan 03, 2016 |
MCFRESH: Except otherwise stated, All interest rates are valued per annum. You can get your monthly intake by porating - (int/100) * ( 30days/365days) * Principal. This may not be applicable for funds whose rate/yield changes on a daily basis. |
Re: Mutual Funds by Johnrake69: 7:51pm On Jan 03, 2016 |
civilserva: There are three parties involved in the Mutual funds investment -The fund manager -The Registrar The Custodian The Registrar is charged with all the documentation. Anytime you want to redeem your investment, your redemption form is taken back to the Registrar to ensure that what you have filled out corresponds with their record. Any discrepancy will be communicated back to the client so the necessary reconciliation is done. Hope this is useful 1 Like |
Re: Mutual Funds by Johnrake69: 8:02pm On Jan 03, 2016 |
rapmike: Maybe you should try us out at ARM. The ARM Money market fund is very flexible. Minimum investment of #5000 and the minimum additional is #1000 and its not mandatory you make additional payment into the account monthly. Its actually at your discretion I.e, anytime you have any extra money you don't want to spend, you can pay it into your account with us. |
Re: Mutual Funds by rapmike(m): 8:32pm On Jan 03, 2016 |
Johnrake69: Okay, where is ARM? Cos am in Osun state @ d moment (Ile-Ife to be precise). Moreover do I need to open a bank account with you guys? |
Re: Mutual Funds by drdams: 8:54pm On Jan 03, 2016 |
rapmike: They run virtual account opening. Its up to them to do proper kyc. ARM isnt a bank. Just open the investment account and you be guided on how to make payment. They have different payment channels : Transfer to designated account, cheque deposit, quick teller and I know of GTPay. |

Hello Everyone, any idea where I can get the rates and charges of various mutual funds in Nigeria? From the little I know their commissions and charges can makes all the difference. Thanks in anticipation. |
Re: Mutual Funds by Johnrake69: 8:00am On Jan 04, 2016 |
rapmike: We don't have an office in Osun state. But what I can do for you is to email you the form; and you complete it and scan back to me, which should be accompanied by the kyc requirement. Like your national government issued ID and your utility bill which serves as a proof of your address. Note: Distance is not a barrier cos we have clients that invest from UK and America. @drdams well done and happy new year. Seems your one of our client. |
