Sunshine Stars striker Tunde Adeniji

Tunisian clubs have continued their new-found romance with Nigerian players with Sunshine Stars striker Tunde Adeniji and U23 midfielder Godspower Aniefiok both close to securing deals there now.
Godspower Aniefiok from Kano Pillars is set to join league leaders Etoile du Sahel after he arrived Sousse on Thursday, while another Tunisian side, Club Africain, are ready to give Sunshine Stars striker Tunde Adeniji a trial.
Towering defensive midfielder Aniefiok featured at the recent U23 AFCON in Senegal.
Already, Emem Eduok and Bernard Bulbwa are at Esperance and Junior Ajayi and Kingsley Sokari are on the books of CS Sfaxien.
Three Tunisian clubs including Esperance are also on the hot chase for Nigeria U23 star Oghenekaro Etebo.

There is absolutely nothing wrong in inviting him for trials. He is nt yet a senior international. Even some nt well established senior internationals go for trials too.

They may have only seen him at the U17 WC and they would physically want to see him perform.

It is normal for U17 players to go for trials. It is now left to Osimhen to prove his worth.

BTW u peeps overrate these our young players a lot.
still i did't like the idea

Sokari praises Enyimba ahead Esperance showdown

Sokari on his debut in Tunisia

by Samm Audu
Kingsley Sokari has praised Enyimba boss Felix Anyansi-Agwu for making his move to Tunisia to go through just as he looks forward to Sunday’s showdown against Esperance, who he would have joined earlier this year.

Sokari made a winning debut for new club CS Sfaxien on Wednesday after a day’s delay in the coming through of his transfer papers.

“I thank the Enyimba chairman, Chief Anyansi, who gave me the chance to play top-flight football in Nigeria,” said the enterprising midfielder, who has signed a three and half year contract.

“He played a great role in seeing me come to Sfax.
“I will miss the fans, coaches and players in Enyimba I will really miss them but I need to move to the next level.

“I wish everybody at Enyimba the best and I hope they win the CAF Champions League next year."

Sokari is likely to face Esperance in Tunis on Sunday in continuation of the Tunisian league.
The former Enyimba star was set to join Esperance soon after the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand in June but the Tunis club failed to come through with the payment of his transfer fee.

Esperance, who are still reeling from a 3-0 loss at league leaders Etoile du Sahel, are third on the table with 27 points from 11 matches, a point behind second-placed CS Sfaxien.

Portuguese club chase Nigeria U23 ace

Nigeria U23 midfielder Usman Mohammed

The Portuguese club of Nigeria international Shehu Abdullahi Uniao Madeira are believed to have tabled an offer of about 400,000 Euros for Nigeria U23 midfielder Usman Mohammed.

Uniao Madeira, the hometown club of Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, are ready to pay in three instalments for the former FC Taraba skipper.

It is now left for Usman’s handlers to agree or reject this offer.

The versatile Usman will move to Europe as a free agent as he was only on loan at Taraba after a failed move to play in Ukraine.

He was an ever-present at the recent U23 AFCON in Senegal which Nigeria won, has been capped by the Super Eagles and he is currently in the Eagles training camp bound for next month’s CHAN in Rwanda.

If Arsenal offers any thing less, Victor should just fly to Wolfsburg straight. Afterall, Wolfsburg is also a good club, at the moment, there are even hotter than Arsenal.

Who are the 3 overaged players you would like to see on the plane to Rio next year?

Mine are Ighalo, Carl Ikeme and Oshaniwa.
An attack comprising the likes of Moses Simon, Osimhen, Iheanacho, Ighalo, and Awoniyi would be special!
why is no one talking about Victor Moses?
I'll love to have him anytime anyday in that olympic team.

I'll pick Ahmed Musa ahead of Odion Ighalo for the olympics...
Other possible addictions to the main stream could include; Onazi, Efe Ambrose, Mikel, Solanke and perhaps Aneke

For team balance however, I would love to see this three
Ahmed Musa, Efe Ambrose and perhaps Onazi or Mikel... These three will bring loads of experience to the team.

However, it is unlikely that club sides would release their players for the tournament since it is not a FIFA tournament.
Sad to say, players like Isaac Sucess, Ahmed Musa, Odion Ighalo, Efe Ambrose, Onazi will HARDLY be released for the tournament.

I'm telling you. Yaya Toure wasn't offered anything even after he went on trials. Wenger told him, he didn't see him as a midfielder and that he should convert to a striker. Yaya Toure said he can play like Patrick but wenger replied 'no, you can't play like Patrick'. The rest they say is history.

The Olympic tournament has been part of the FIFA calendar since 2012. So clubs are bound to release players for the tourney.

Definitely one of my best Super Eagles player. His overlapping and tracking back looks effortless. Juwon Oshaniwa is one of the most underrated players in football today.

You are right about Wenger not thinking Yaya or anyone could play like Patrick Viera and in his practice match Wenger said he looked pretty average but he still wanted to sign him. Yaya couldn't obtain a work permit and he grew impatient and left to Ukraine.

Oshaniwa is far better than Echiejile. Echiejile's injury gave Oshaniwa the chance to represent us well at the World Cup. Echiejile's return coincided with the poor form of the Super Eagles which resulted in the poor games of the qualifiers.

Coach Keshi noticed it late and returned Oshaniwa to the line up. Our results improved but it was too late and Coach Keshi faoled to qualify us.

Oshaniwa is far ahead of Echiejile in all aspects, defending, overlapping and most of all, crossing.

I simply dnt agree. Oshaniwa was instrumental to our nt qualifying for the last AFCON.He was usually out of position and found it difficult to track back. In the commencement of the current AFCON qualifiers Keshi gave the left back role to Kingsley Madu.

Since when did Musa Mohammed start playing left back?
Besides Musa Mohammed is U23 so he is eligible already and nt as over-aged.

I dnt even want any over aged player at that left back. We have good U23 players that can play that role.

My mistake. Mohammed is a right-back.
Also, I've changed my mind on inviting Carl Ikeme to the squad. The keeper that played in the last Olympic qualifiers is very good; he deserves a starting spot in Brazil. Ikeme can be one of the 4 "alternates", not on the main 18-man squad.

The 3 over-aged players could be in the defense, midfield and attack.

U are right abt Ikeme. The U23 keeper is capable. Besides, we need to raise our younger goalies to take over on a longer term basis.

Echiejile recovered and flopped. That is a fact. Echiejile is a weak crosser. If I start digging my comments, you will see complaints I made.

If you remember Oshaniwa running to celebrate with Coach Keshi in one of the qualifiers, it was due to his impact on the team.

I actually watch that wing a lot. There is no way you can compare them. I just hope Coach Oliseh gives the young man a chance. When Oshaniwa plays, you do not notice his forward runs and track backs because he does it effortlessly.

We need to groom a new left back from this U23. The Super Eagles deserve better left backs than Echiejile and Oshaniwa.

In 1996 Celestine Babayaro featured at d Olympics and subsequently replaced Ben Iroha at left back. We need to do same here. We are tired of Echijile and Oshaniwa options. Both are mediocre left backs.

I do not think we need an overage wing back. I think the midfield and central defence needs the experience players.

Oshaniwa should fight for his chance to play in the National team. I hope Oliseh gives him a chance. He fits the big club criteria playing for Hearts in Scotland.

In that case, Omeruo and Mikel (if he continues his good form under Hiddink till the end of the season) can fill the respective positions.
Efe Ambrose is another player to consider for the overage slot. Although he plays as a centre-back and right-back for Celtic and Nigeria, I prefer that he be deployed in the midfield. He hasn't been all that great as a defender.

I disagree on Oshaniwa being mediocre. He did not have a bad world cup. Put up good performances against the stars of Argentina and France.

A lot of people miss the impact of Oshaniwa because a lot of times, he overlaps but our players forwards fail to pass to him. Moses is guilty of this a lot.

I do not think it is fair to compare him with Celestine Babayaro. Babayaro was a rare breed. It was easy for Chelsea to spend big money on Ashley Cole to replace Celestine but on National level, it will take time to raise a star like him.

The best we got on National level is Oshaniwa but I do not think his wing is critical to the Olympic success. I think we need experienced players in our weakest positions. Strengthening the strong areas can not fix the weak points.
