afolabibalogun: You have given him a good advice tho,But at the same time since he is doing it through the school,That should be a problem, because he is definitely not doing it illegal,The school would just ask him for necessary documents,The most important thing is if the school grant him admission they will forward his papers and I-20 etc to the embassy themselves and they will change his status for him,It is the easiest,He doesnt really have to stress over coming back to nigeria....I hope this helps.....Bless.....Happy New year. 1 Like |

wisdom92: Wisdom, you start by using Google to check what exactly you are looking for in a school. There are two basic exams you will need to write. They are GRE and TOEFL. Also try and "study" this thread very well. The gurus are always eager to help you in every way they can. |

warriboy21:Did you work last year? If yes your employer will send you your W-2 by January 31 to file your taxes. Last year I filed my taxes using my Form 1098-T from my school and my Form W-2 from my employer. I got about $2000+ in tax refund. 2 Likes |

Dear forumites I received my State ID in the mail last week but I noticed something unusual. I checked the expiration date and noticed that my State ID is valid for only one year { It expires on the same date my Form I-20 expires}. When I checked my siblings ID I noticed that there state ID is valid for seven years. The one thing I can think of is maybe because they are immigrants and I am a non-immigrant. Is this rule only applicable in Charlotte North Carolina and does anybody have similar experiences. Ojap, Imperiouxx, Msnas, bigfrancis21, Walspring, Slimmy05, DARKLIGHT, Zeezahbee and other forumites your inputs are highly appreciated. |

LUCAS99: Lucas, I think it's applicable to all F1 visa holders. Mine expires the same day I'm expected to finish my program. But it can be renewed. 1 Like |

Lucas, I think when one's F1 visa is still valid or when one has gotten his H1B visa from his employers or one has gotten a green card or when one has become a citizen, one's documents can be upgraded. 1 Like |

LUCAS99:Yes, its the validity of your I-20 that matters. They are Immigrant so they get 7years. I don't have state ID, but my Licence is valid for 3 years based on my I-20. But A friend has just one month on his I-20 but when he renewed his license he was given 5years. lol. |

LUCAS99:You know you have Work Authorization, when you get Educational Tax credit which is like $1000, you should be able to get additional $1000 based on your 30-40 hours of work year round. Students like us who have 20hrs of work weekly with tax deductions not more than $15 monthly We should get like $1400 or $1,300 1 Like |

Finding it hard to book a flight to Baltimore (BWI). Saw flights to BWI on wakanow but when I check some of these airlines' website, the said flights ain't available. e.g Emirates and Etihad Please gurus, who can help with a directive to connect greyhound bus from JFK to Baltimore? Make cold no go kill person while wandering around in a strange land. Thanks fam. Darklight, Slimmy05, Bigfrancis, |

meritdee:Greyhound park is 11 mins from JFK, check greyhound.com. when do you arrive JFK? Do you want to check for flights direct to JFK or BWI? I saw Lagos to JFK Royal Maroc for $799 (11ths) $750 (18th). |

meritdee: My Oga, Slimmy05 has told you what to do. Greyhound is nice. I have used Greyhound several times. I just printed my ticket not long ago. But just zero your mind it's gonna be a long journey. If you are lucky to be seated near a beautiful chic, then the journey can be worthwhile. 1 Like |

slimmy05: Thanks for the time Slimmy I saw Royal Maroc as well but I'm just following the review on this thread about the best airlines to fly. Emirates to JFK is within that range as well but I'd really prefer direct flights to BWI. I got the Greyhound app on my phone and I checked out their route already. Is it very easy to get a cab to their park from JFK cuz Uber is not helping with their complex stuff. Really appreciate your time. Thanks 1 Like |

DARKLIGHT: lmao, don't teach me bad thing biko. Thanks, I guess I'd use Greyhound then. The flights to BWI on the thrid party websites too long sef. Emirates flight: Lagos - Dubai - Boston - Baltimore = 37hours to 48hours Etihad Flight: Lagos - AUT - JFK - Baltimore = 35hours to 42hours God help me |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 8 by Nobody: 9:25pm On Jan 02, 2016 |
meritdee:Fly with your pocket, flights are expensive at this point. You don't need Uber, when you get there, take a cab to the nearest greyhound station. You can check for their schedule online. |

meritdee:I don't see why the hours should matter since you're not trekking. You better enjoy the in flight experience and get used to it. I used greyhound bus once and swore never to use them again. Not cos of the service, its cos of the useless stops and slow movement. I rather save and fly. |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 8 by Nobody: 9:28pm On Jan 02, 2016 |
meritdee: Hahahahaha! No mind me, boss. If you cannot get a flight, then resort to using Greyhound. When you get into the States, you can be able to travel with plane at cheaper rate when you plan well. Most of my travels occur suddenly that's why I end up using Greyhound because it's cheaper in price, but as regards to time wasting and lack of comfort, it's expensive. |
