Earlier today the Namibian Police Special Reserve force rescued a bunch of tourists who had been lost for three days without any food or water,The rescue team however gave them water and something to eat and assured them that they were now in safe hands. The tourists had been navigating their way through the Namib desert at the time and strayed from their path(because they didn't pack a GPS system undecided)Although they are safe now and were found with all their limbs attached to their bodies...The group has made it clear that they will never be visiting Namibia ever again.
Any idea, what nationality they are? Seems a bit unfair blaming Namibia, when getting lost is 90% of the time self inflicted.

Nigerian Air Force getting 3 units of JF-17 multi-role fighter jets.

Beegs reported over a week ago that the Nigerian Air Force was getting 3 units of JF-17, additional 2 units of MI-35m and 10 Super Mushak trainers.

However, because we've been here multiple times before, i didn't post the news, i needed a second confirmatory source. Punchng.com has now provided the confirmatory.

Nigerian Air Force total expected deliveries for 2016

-3 units of JF-17 Block II ( startup haul)

- 8 units of MI-35M ( continued delivery )

- 12 units of MI-17 terminator

- 10 Super-Mushak Trainers

Algeria Orders 12 Su-34 'Fullback' Fighter-Bombers from
Russia

Nigeria is also interested in the SU-34

"Several countries in Africa, including Uganda and Nigeria,
which [are] waging a war against Boko Haram, could buy the
Su-34. Such top of the range fighter bomber aircraft could
also strengthen Ethiopia's Air Force, which still operates a
large fleet of aging Su-27 fighters," Korotchenko said.

You can blame anyone if they doubt..? Until I came across the military budget news on punch, that was when I had my total conviction....... grin

Let me just emphasise that I(As well as Patches689 and the rest) will always post photos of African militaries (mostly SANDF of course) above non African militaries!! I mean as you know, we are just as patriotic as you lot.

Unfortunately new photos of African militaries aren't readily available, and honestly I don't like reposting old photos again and again as what happens on a regular basis on this thread, I feel it degrades this thread, and plainly makes it more boring!

Bringing something different to the thread(Which is still military related), I feel made it more exciting, its also just temporary, something to pass the time, untill new photos emerge.

I feel @Lionel4power and the rest of the guys will agree with me.

When you write a university degree project, do you add irrelevant off topic materials just because you don't have as much relevant materials as you wish for? Do you know what academic discipline is? If yes, apply it to real life, it's a sign of good education.

Not blaming anyone, just saying the hand writing was already on the wall clearly to see, 95% of budget supported procurement get done.

The Beegeagle discuss was based on this same budget data, just that Beegs got it first before Punch news. There is no way NAF will not buy the JF-17 when many things point to the urgent need, nobody can deny it, the need was clear for all to see.

After going through the same process 4 years in a row, i simply wasn't willing to invest. I needed actual executive confirmation.

I'm happy with the JF-17, it's a great plane, and one of the most cost effective fighters in the world!

- 25 JF-17s,

- 6 SU-30s,

- 24 L-15s, is my ideal set-up.

I have no idea. However, our local industry is well developed to produce bulk 50 - 70 meters ships. There are multiple companies in Onne, Lagos and Warri who can't take on this builds. As we've seen, we already export light vessels.

I feel your thoughts my big boss, so many disappointments and delays in the past, don't worry, your wish is now granted by NAF getting a 4th generation jet.....and the deal for technology transfer remains on the table for Nigeria to build the jets at home and maybe even export, we will control the African market if we play smart with Pakistan as the first buyer in the world. Watch other countries follow us this 2016, they will start buying.

For ideal set up, I will prefer more deadly for NAF aircraft mix :

20 JF-17 Block 3 (Six trainer versions)

6 Su-35 Stealthy Flanker (Two trainer versions)

6 Su-25 COIN (Two trainer versions)

36 Super Mushak....4th gen trainer/COIN

Same $1.5 billion cost....the JF-17 answers MiG-29 and Gripen, Su-35 answers Su-30 and Rafale, Su-25 answers Boko Haram close range when pilot need to I.D. friend or foe by eye visual observation in a confused closed quaters combat ground battle space, Super Mushak answers Boko Haram at safe distance with guided munitions.

We need to be able to help African nations while we help ourselves. Brothers are brothers, long live Africa !

With the size of the Nigerian economy, their defence needs and their history of cooperation with Pakistan Air Force and their history of major defence purchases from Pakistan they very well could become the second largest operator of jf17 after Pakistan

Money Money Money

Nigeria has more important things to spend on than JF-17s and other shiny fighter, and with the current oil prices being as they are...

It makes sense for Pakistan to muster a huge airforce... you guys (@Pakistanilad) face India who have an impressive list of Heavy (they can blot out the sun with their Su-30MKIs) and Medium fighters (s.exy Mirage 2000's everywhere)*.

Nigeria has no such problems... Cameroon has a whole 5 MB-326s, Chad has 3 MiG-29's which have been ordered and never heard of again and Niger has a whole 2 Frogfoots...

They have bigger fish to fry and more logical purchases to make. And RSA, Angola and Uganda have fallen into the same trap in the past.

Best strategy would be:

- 12 or so JF-17 to replace the F-7's in the point defense role
- 6 or so Su-34 for long range strikes across Nigeria
- augmented by a large number of 24 or so light trainers for training and localized strike missions (cheap to operate, versatile and do not require lots of training to be effective)**.

In interstate conflicts, massing these numbers will be enough to achieve complete air superiority over any of their neighbors.

And the cost will only come to: ~$780 mil, well under budget and leaves another ~$700 million for the rest of the airforce (46 Super Puma OR 58 Gazelle OR 40+ Mil 17's OR 13 C-27 Spartans etc etc etc

But hey, thats just my opinion and I only bothered with this academic game because I am bored out of my skull right now.

*Luckily the HAL Tejas is an absolute P.O.S
** Hongdu JL-8 is cheap at only $10 mil a pop, but Aero L-159 Alca is the same price and can be configured for both western and eastern weapnons.
