Please name one or two stocks for short term profits of about 10% and above.

Over 50m units of FCMB was traded today. The last time such a huge volume was traded was April 2015. I have FCMB in my portfolio and it's only normal that it caught my attention. My mandate to buy more at N1.53 wasn't successful today. No intention to promote it either.....just saying. In fact, it could be a prelude to a big crash in price.....may be not.

Good observation. I guess someone is placing a bet based on inside information.

That's 1.46% profit after Morgans tax!
Hmm. U get mind oh. 4 D's kind one any small mistake, short term go turn long term!
This means that if he traded with N100,000 for example, he will make gain of only N1,400 after tax and fees? What kind of investment is this? It is better not to even trade at all than to take this heavy risk and gain only 1.4%...What if it went the other way round? NSE is loosing it but we are making money this year whether they like it or not.

I hope you are aware that their q3 result is not yet out and speculation is that the result might be bad....Some people might have gotten the info and may be dumping.... This is exactly what oando did to deceive shareholders when over 60million units were traded last year before they released the bombshell result...Better pray for the best...Remember, no company will ever withhold a good result for too long.

Okay. This is a very personal opinion. Watch the sell off going on in SKYE. Target the N1.15 to N1.23 range. Let's hope it gets there. It just might touch N1.23 by Friday, hopefully (apologies to those that have SKYE in their portfolio). How deep your pocket is should guide when you start buying. That your 10% go dey small when harvest time reach ( max is 2 weeks from date lower value of the range was reached). Very very very personal opinion indeed........more like what I am doing in front of my computer. If it goes against projection.........na to sigh and laugh at myself o. grin If you buy at that range their is no point panic-selling if it dips further. March/April is just around the corner......meaning don't use borrowed money so you go fit convert to medium term. tongue

For me, if I must hold 2 banking stocks in my portfolio in 2016, FCMB and FBNH will top my consideration especially at their current prices. Their holdco structure will confer on them certain privileges deposit money banks can not benefit from.
Govt is going to be raising a lot of domestic debt in 2016, the likes of UCAP, FBN Capital and FCMB capital, among others, will be arranging the funds (of course for a fee). The capital market will witness increased Govt patronage and we know the leaders in that field. I am aware DMBs will benefit from the fund raising but not in the form of incomes accruable to lead arrangers.

This is not a JIJO perspective though and you are permitted to thrash it as soon as you are done reading. cheesy

Oil price falls below $35 a barrel to fresh 11-year low http://www.bbc.com/news/business-35243442

Oil has continued its rollercoaster ride into the new year, with Brent crude falling below $35 a barrel for the first time in 11 years.

Brent crude sank by 4.2% to $34.88 a barrel, surpassing its late December fall, and taking the price to its lowest level since 1 July 2004.

The price of US crude dropped 3.3% to $34.77 a barrel.
The sharp falls followed a short-lived rally on Monday after Saudi Arabia broke diplomatic ties with Iran.

Goldman Sachs has warned that oil prices could go as low a $20 a barrel, but most analysts are expecting the price to stabilise in the second half of the year as supply from non-Opec nations slows and demand remains relatively robust.

Trading of shares and index futures was halted by automatic circuit breakers from about 9:59 a.m. local time.

Stocks fell after China’s central bank weakened the currency’s daily reference rate by the most since August.

http://www.punchng.com/external-reserves-lose-112m-in-five-days/

The nation’s foreign reserves have fallen by $112m in five days to $28.960bn; the latest figures obtained from the Central Bank of Nigeria have shown.

The loss, recorded between December 31 and January 6, was the biggest in Nigeria’s reserves since the CBN implemented the use of Bank Verification Number in the forex trading.
