Yes, eggs are VERY fragile.
In handling it, make sure each crate keys in perfectly on each other while stacking them in a vehicle.
When buying your crates as a distributor, go for the large size crates. With large size crates, your eggs are safer especially the big and extra large ones.

While moving your eggs, the walls of your vehicles ought to be lagged with sacks stuffed with soft materials so as to checkmate the crates of eggs hitting at the body of the vehicle.

Lastly, the driver of the vehicle moving the eggs have a lot of job to do - he MUST drive carefully. Infact everything is on the driver for lesser breakages.

When eggs are in your custody for over 7 days, its a RED FLAG.
At moment, I am battling such a situation - a farm gave me a volume of eggs mixed with some retrieved from a supermarket. Almost in all crates, you get a rotten egg and its a bad experience.

As you are coming back into the business again, just be strict on go cash and carry basis. It may be rough but it is better you have a few clients who pay cash on demand than having thousands that go on credit.

If you must allow the credit offer, all old supplies must be settled before a new one will be accessed.

You need to step up your game this year.
Getting supplies from farms aint that a rosy affair due to their management strategies that does not favour distributors most times.

Now, this what you should be looking at right now:-
Send proposals to as many farms as you can and monitor your application till they are successful.

Set your target on at least 10 farms.
If you get say 50 crates from each, that will sum up to 500 crates.
You can even give out a larger quantity of it out to many petty and upcoming distributors for a fee.

This is a remote route to steady supply of eggs all year round.

I'd like to start with 50 crates to test new grounds 1st. The wholesaler in my area offered 650 for small eggs, 700 for middle, 750 for big eggs. If I buy them at that rate how much would I resell? Get your clients first!
If you plan to buy 100 crates, make sure you must have gotten clients who will take 150 crates.

Some who said yes to your marketing may decline.
Instead of you begging then to take the eggs on credit, its much better you were not able to meet their demand.

It will also help you to know who and who is serious among them.

Crates are the most easily lost property in egg distribution.
I just took stock of mine this month and I have lost over 100 units and how it happened, I cannot tell.

For now they are too far from me. I would appreciate it if there are contacts from Uyo. though I have two farms I have in my database to visit there once I get mobile, which will be like next month. And also songhai farm is another place I'll visit once the vehicle comes.
But please if you know any confirmed farms in Imo, Abia, Uyo state I'll love to visit them and discuss with them.
