What a City fan had to say today on Pelle's stubbornness:
Yeah. The odd start but give him more playing time. He's done more than can be expected given how little playing time he has had. Pellegrini has a player who looks like future Balon d'Or shortlist material, yet he's had just over 300 minutes of time on the field.

I saw a bit of Iwobi, he can become a very strong winger.

The point some people are trying on purpose to miss is that we all know he is capable of greatness we just want to see it more often.
abi ooo. Iheanacho should be playing regularly. He played over 80mins today, that is the kind of playing time we want for him not 3 mins-5mins injury time.

You mention 3 British Citizens who have all opted to play for England, people who started from proper academies in England and are products of same academies, people who ave been exposed to pro-football and the processes since they could kick a ball.

Does Kelechi have same benefits? No, he doesn't. He's arguably one of less than five teenage African kids who are fully home grown making waves in Western Europe currently. Compare him to people of similar circumstances

Anyway, there are rumours of a loan move to West Ham.....but these are just rumors

west ham? i am in support of sure a move
west ham have a very good coach and team

Now, that is the pt some of us have been making. We know regular game time is the ideal bt that doesnt mean players hu are in top clubs bt dnt feature regularly dnt stand a chance in the Olympic team.
Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi have reiterated the fact that though they dnt get regular game time they are capable of doing great things when given the opportunity. I didnt watch Iheanacho bt I watched Iwobi for the over 70mins dat he featured. Iwobi has shown that in addition to being a winger he can also play from the middle jst behind d main striker which he did excellently well today. He was jst like a replica of Ozil. His passes were so sublime and he took on defenders one-on-one with so much confidence. He was part of the build up to Arsenal's first goal.
I think a loan move will do Iwobi good as Arsenal has so many senior players playing d wings/AM role.

I can see safarigirl in a celebrative mood for "Nacho". grin

I do not know why you people make someone repeat himself unneccessarily.

Nacho is just about six months in professional football. He should use this time to learn his craft.

After learning his craft, he can fight for game time.

Is Chicarito six months in football? Why the comparison?

The question is, is it better Nacho goes on loan or trains week in week out with Pellegrini and the City stars?

He is going to develop faster at City than on loan with some crap players and coaches.

Please, is six months learning forever?

mijestic:

Still waiting for the GoodJoe to come explain what happened with Hernandez. That was the perfect response to those who think playing time is not important to the performance of a footballer. Even outside the football world, it is a known fact that one gets better in what he does frequently. Iheanacho staying at city will not help his development. He has a lot to prove after learning from the best, playing alongside the best players at city. His recent interviews will tell you the boy is eager to do just this. A student cannot keep learning forever. He's got to be pragmatic and creative with knowledge. What's the use of knowledge when it cannot be applied?

I am seeing that some people are supporting a loan move to West Ham for Nacho.

Ridiculous. We are talking of a top promising footballing talent working day in day out with Pellegrni. A man who trained the likes of Forlan, Riquelme and Sorin.

You want Nacho to sacrifice such a golden opportunity to work with a coach who trained who?

Nacho needs lessons with Pellegrini and the likes of Brian Kidd who worked with Ferguson to train stars like Scholes, Beckham and Giggs. A coach who worked with Tevez and Robinho.

How can you people say at this time, Nacho needs playing time than learning. He has his whole career ahead of him to play.

Nacho needs to learn how to do it like the greats and take his chances when the coaches give him his chance.

If Guardiola comes next season and Nacho is not a regular, Nacho should not go on loan. He should sit and learn from the greatest tactician in the game.

A man who reinvented Messi into the greatest player in club football. A man who coached the likes of Eto'o, Villa and Alexis Sanchez.

What can he learn on loan that he wll not learn more under Guardiola.

Look at Jack Wilshere. He could have stayed at Arsenal training with good coaches but his loan to Bolton was what made him improve dramatically even though the talent was always there.

Great coaching without understanding the pressures of playing every week will not improve a player to the desired standard.

A premiership loan deal will benefit iheanacho more than just training with the first team. He gets the opportunity to test himself against the best players in the league every week. And like they say, experience is the best teacher.

So you are saying the pressure of playing regularly will do Nacho more good than Nacho training with top coaches and players.

Nacho's current form has a lot to do with training than game time.

I am glad Nacho is with Coaches who feel his training is more important than playing regularly with small clubs.

Why do you think I want Success at Inter with Mancini instead of Granada? Will Success get more playing time at Inter?

Success gets to work with a coach who helped develop Adriano and converted Aguero to a top striker.

Before Nacho signed for Man City, I said I wanted him to work with Pelegrini. A loan move does not make him work with Pelegrini.

Owen Coyle had nothing to teach Wilshere. Wilshere was ready and went to Bolton for exposure.

Nacho is not ready and he is learning everyday in the campus with Pellegrini.

Amoo Tasks Osimhen, Etebo, After CAF Awards

By James Agberebi:

U-23 Eagles assistant coach Fatai Amoo has charged the duo of. Glo-CAF award winners; Victor Osimhen and Etebo Oghenekaro not to relent in their efforts to become better footballers.

Osimhen won the Best Youth Player Award while Etebo went home with The Most Promising Talent of the Year award at the Glo-Caf Awards on Thursday in Abuja.

Both players helped the U-23 Eagles to win the CAF U-23 Cup of Nations and also qualify for this year's Olympic Games in Rio.

In a chat with Comple tesportsnigeria.com, Amoo advised both players to be focused and work harder.

"We thank God for the awards. My advice for the two of them is to remain humble and be hardworking so at the end of the day, they can reach their zenith and rub shoulders with the likes of Yaya Toure, Aubameyang and the rest.

"They've started well and I hope they remain focused and be professional so as to achieve their goals."

Wenger Praises “Fearless” Iwobi After FA Cup Victory

By Izuchukwu Okosi:
Youngster Alex Iwobi had a promising game for the Gunners in their 3-1 FA Cup third round win against Sunderlandon Saturday and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger showered praises on Iwobi for his performance at the Emirates Stadium.

The 19-year-old Nigerian was handed a rare opportunity to start for the first team as Wenger rested a number of key men for the cup clash.

Iwobi did not disappoint as he made his team not feel the absence of the mercurial Mesut Ozil who was rested for the visit of Sam Allardyce's men.

The nephew of former Nigeria and Bolton captain Austin Jay-Jay Okocha was substituted in the second half by goal scorer Aaron Ramsey to rousing applause from the fans.

Wenger praised the Super Eagles forward after the game, particularly for his accurate passing in the centre of midfield.
“Alex Iwobi was one of the guys who was very good in the first half but tired a little bit in the second,” Wenger told the media after the match.

“Overall he did well. I liked the timing of his passes and in the middle of the park that’s a vital quality.

“He plays forward, sees the pitch and isn’t afraid to take people on. For a young boy that’s not easy.”

I always tell anybody I discuss football with that Nigeria's golden generation is coming soon.

But they are only two problems hindering that.

1. The failure to scout potential youngsters whether abroad or in Nigeria. I remembered when I was shouting Dele Alli b4 he shone at MK dons. What about bobby adekanye that barca got banned for, they said he was messi's favorite youngster. Amuneke didn't make effort to invite him to the U17, now he's with Holland.
I am not just talking about abroad youths alone. Daniel Emmanuel, the goalkeeper that did so wonderfully well at CAF U23 wasn't invited to the CHAN tourney. I understand that competition for shirts is tough but give youth a chance.

2. If you are talking about the next generation stars in naija football. You'll mention, iheanacho, success, awoniyi, osimhen, iwobi, nwakali, alampasu, ndidi.
Did you notice something wrong? No. Yes. They are no defenders. No matter how big naija's youth pool is. it will mostly comprise of attacking talent. Who can you say is the top defender naija can rely on in the future? even if you name some. how many? is it iorfa? that has already played for England.
If we begin to groom more quality defenders we can talk about that golden generation.

Thank you

There are a couple people here are conversant with: Musa Mohammed, Ndidi, Zarahdeen Bello, Mustapha Abdullahi, Elahor Ekpolo, Alampasu, Udoh Akpan, Lazarus John, Nuru Abdullahi, Troost-Ekong.

We have players in all departments for the golden generation.

I know.. but how many of do you think stands a real chance of making it to the National team. Only siasia gives youngsters chance. Ekpolo has been invited thrice yet no show. Out of this last U17 it's just Lazarus John that was exceptional.

We may have defenders quite alright. But how many can you boldly say will become ighalo, or shine like iheanacho. From the last U17 n U20 no defender really shone or stood out. Even locally based. In the last U23 our main problem was defense.

‘He’s a better no.10 than Coutinho!’ Arsenal fans react to Alex Iwobi’s performance against Sunderland

Arsenal starlet Alex Iwobi was one of the stars for Arsene Wenger’s men in their FA Cupclash against Sunderland.

He may already have made two international appearances for Nigeriabut this was only his second ever start for the Gunners, giving supporters a chance to take another look over his potential.

It’s fair to say most observers were rather pleased with his performance as they took to Twitter to praise his display, which included direct attacking and some moments of skill before he was substituted after 66 minutes.

You can see what Arsenal fans reckoned about his antic below…

As an Arsenal fan myself I will say Wenger is at it again. He has jst chuned out another Fabregas more like in the mode of Mesut Ozil. Iwobi showed so much display of confidence and maturity. Nt afraid of going forward and taking on defenders. He hardly made any faulty pass and was even d initiator of the Arsenal's equalizer. I go in the line of TheGoodJoe that training with d best coaches and players is a lot deal jst like the Iheanacho case too. Iwobi must have learnt alot from some1 like Ozil that he came on d pitch and we saw a replica of Ozil . Knowing Wenger for hu he is Iwobi might get some more playing time going forward.

The thing is the best players in the world are usually Forwards and Midfielders. Defenders also hardly make d headlines rather the forwards do bc of their goal scoring abilities. Plus also it is easier for forwards and midfielders to sign professional contracts than defenders and bc of that strikers progress better d defenders. Take a look at d last 2 U17 Eaglets and u'll see that d strikers and midfielders have progressed farthest even though there were a couple of good defenders from among d two crops.

Also, coaches experiment more with strikers which means young strikers have more opportunities to move arnd. So yes it is more likely for the likes of Success, Iheanacho, Osimhen, Etebor and co to break into d Super Eagles soonest than d likes of Zaharadeen, Mohammed, Lazarus, Mustapha.

U have a point but i wouldn't purely say defence because we do a good enough job producing fullbacks. Central defence seems to be the issue, we need to find the next Taribo, Keshi and even Yobo.
