NYSC is very stupid... When I (Petroleum Engineer) did my service... They posted me to a secondary school where I ended up in teaching physics and basic tech!

I'm sure many of us will hail this news, but we also have to think of its feasibility in many states.

It is not about NYSC and COREN barring them from teaching, but them providing enough Places of Primary Assignment. I'm trying to think of the companies where these engineers will work in states like Katsina, Zamfara, Osun, Kwara, Ebonyi, and Kebbi states.

I'm sure this policy can't work in many states because some states do not have robust private sector-driven economy to absorb these young engineers.

this is bad news. what this means that many engineering oriented corpers will not have PPA. unless they are willing to work in small scale engineering sector

When you been dey school, some Engineering Corpers taught you as well. I see no problems with Engineering students teaching as long as the student has the skills to impart knowledge.

Nobody read "Teacher" for school as Course.


This new directive can't work. We do not have enough Engineering firms to absorb all the engineering graduates we produce every day.

sounds a good news for our unborn children I hope there NYSC don't go back to their vomit once again. Nigeria always getting things right after every 50yrs

That will give d NYSC officials work... That is, by posting less Engineers to states with few engineering industry!




And its better to interchange d engineers, that is by posting a civil engineer to an electrical firm than posting him/her to a secondary school.

They have started again with another irrational policy. I hope they won't start posting civil engineers to block industries, mech engrs to mechanic workshops or even elect engrs to electrician shops because these are the only functional area of placement apart from the few oil servicing companies dat are struggling 4 survival especially wit d drastic drop in crude oil prices.
